Heart of Autumn

heart of autumn heart of autumn waits not pacing with anxious steps ~ chrysanthemums nod calls of soaring geese echo through dusk coral skies ~ early darkness sighs wind heralds long nights for fallow fields of gold chaff ~ rain tarantellas hazy sunlight fades fall shadows stretch across fields ~ red shades of whimsy autumn spins magic in hues of umber scarlet ~ hedgehogs find warm dens 9-29-22

Anne-Lise, thank you so much! I have really enjoyed learning to write haiku and, like you, it's one of my favorite forms. For someone, like me, born with the loquacious gene the challenge of precise language in images and personification is one I embrace with great joy. I have been enjoying your haikus! Tom Cunningham encouraged me when I was learning to write haiku and showed me how to do a haiku chain. I would love to do the same with you. For me haiku is a chance to develop imagery and personification both of which you write beautifully. Hope you are doing well my friend. It's finally beginning to feel like fall. Praying for rain!
