US born John Turnbull
a portraitist so successful
The first graduate painter of Harvard
but perhaps tried a little too hard
One skinny geek, one with stuffing
The third wheel went by “Mclovin”
A wasted girl
Began to hurl
Then the fat boy took off running

graduate
my journey began
thirty years earlier
finishing with tears of pride
"somewhere your dream is still waiting"
there are so many, Faces with Books
there are so many books with faces
that they would not tell you
whose idea it was
in the first place
I hate to say it, but it's true
You don't like me, I don't like you
It's good to graduate from this place
So I won't have to look at your face.
Life as an adult
Is at times difficult
There is no shortcut
They can criticize and insult
In God you should consult
For a successful result
First class male receives stamp of approval… he’s posted abroad!

I hate that ignorance holds your heart
Something Something
has torn you apart
Hate can never graduate
It's too heavy we must deactivate!

At last, their big day.
Gowned, smiling, hopeful and proud.
Graduates, conferred!

Never spend your life
waiting for your boat to dock;
swim out and meet it.
Throwing our caps
looking back at the last four years
mix of bittersweet moments
fear creeping in
nervous about what the future
feels weird to close this chapter
Repugnant Rich worked in a drainage ditch
Smelling of sewer water, he developed a twitch
Detestable conditions for a graduate of M.U.
But he made a fortune and got off at two.

the boiler is boiling, the coil is hot,
the pressure is 15, the system is not,
the pump is just kicking, the aquastat is shot,
and I'm just here thinking about the slip joint wrench!

has the muscles
he used to

it carries far, far away
Pause,
slow down,
graduate,
roll back,
you steps,
thoughts,
acts,
from,
thoughtless,
hasty,
and,
retaliatory,
plane,
as you pause,
think more,
what these,
might have,
in store.

A Nigerian, studying for years,
In higher institution,
Burning candles.
Graduated with honors, got no job,
Searching daily,
Fed up.
Tears rolling down, he is pained,
Remember him,
This I plead.

High school graduate
Roll the dice
Hope for seven
Maybe eleven
Take a risk
Time for change
Need some luck
Borrow a buck
No snake eyes
Hope for good

She strolled briskly toward center stage,
self-confident, charismatic.
She nodded at supporters,
teachers, friends, family,
who rejoiced in her
graduation,
overjoyed,
thankful,
awed.

bell rings
seniors scream
seniors cry
today is our last day
today was our last day
its over
finally over
we move on
we separate
we grow
we leave
we graduate
its over
I can't believe its over

For the Graduate
Your school days are done;
graduation has come.
It's time to rest.
Cause a job comes tomorrow;
to pay what you borrowed,
for all those debts.
