Gainfully
Eyes’ floodgates pour free
Plunging gagging still rising
Both nostrils enflamed

dark bubbly gagging brew

Big Fat Lies
I always was a fool for you
Eating your lies with a silver spoon
Now I’m on a diet
But you still try it
Gagging me with a new ruse...

Indian Food
Indian food has recently caught my fancy
Delicious and it also maintains my chic chassis
May sound like bragging
Do I hear you gagging
Can't stand it myself, my bod's always been baggy...

Snickers Senryu 1
the dog is gagging
in some vomit on the floor. . .
my vanished earring
(well, it's kind of about nature; a very natural thing for dogs. haha!)
For PD's (Make Me Chuckle with a haiku) Haiku #1 (or senryu)...

The Stench
leaving the stench
of extinguished species
across scorched dirt
beastly commercialism’s
love of the green lining pockets
born from tomorrow may never come
prompts consummation of resources
and without manners of a cat
leaves unburied their
poop and piss of pollution
gagging every earthly creature...

Lunch Hour Redemption
A mercury-free tin of tuna fish
bolted down, gagging all the way
To the accompaniment of gossipy lips
a revolting noon hour this hot day
A walk inside COVID's masked prison
did not appeal to me either
Tossed the tin in the can with a certain elan
Farewell, tuna fish; unleashed, my inner Tarzan...

Sliding Back
vertiginous in a virulent cityscape
gagging on gritty gray gloom
luckless in a loveless race
at the bottom of a solipsistic sinkhole
(\\\\?!?!----!?!?\\\\)
exhausted by lucent losses
lying low & flying blindly behind
sliding back into Whateverland
where dust confronts the futile frontier...

Towers of Shame
Academicians …
masticating and
grinding their ‘truth’
Spewing out
what they would have us swallow
in gagging choking egotism
Regurgitating it back
in the toxic chunder
of a narcissistic reality
Papering the walls
of modern thought
with the bibs of their retching
As they hide within
their ivory towers
—festering in mass
(St. David’s Pennsylvania: September, 2023)...

Hodge - Podge Again - Repost
Over the pine trees the ball I threw
Neighbor’s bay window the ball went through
My neighbor asked me if I would?
Come over to his house, split a cord of wood
In the woodpile see the chipmunk pray
I do not want to be the Bald Eagle’s prey
From the woodpile a gagging scent
A payment my neighbor’s skunk had sent...

A Poet
you see this tear stream down my face
a lonely star that's been disgraced
while mom and dad went out to play
this girl sat with her thoughts all day
a mom who felt the chill of a tear
a father who ignored the fear
a sister who felt insecure
a brother who remained sincere
a phony front for a casual life
consumes her and her family time
an exhausted gagging in her throat
she's tired of this life she wrote....

The Higgins Boat
The Higgins Boat
gray-green heaving seas
men retching and gagging
oh Lord don’t let me die
Jesus let me live to go home
rancid smell of sweat and urine
putrid scent of soiled pants
could I make it
could I survive
will I do my duty
salt spray crashing into the boat
sobs for mother
muffled explosions like thunder
coxsun counting down
destination Omaha
the steel ramp opens

Sickness
Shivering through fever,
fire and ice.
The devil rips his
jagged claws
deep into my lungs,
ravaging pain
spurts through my chest,
gagging me
with spasms.
Pitch fork spears,
stab my body.
Pain flows like blood
through out my skin,
and only fever dreams come,
in broken sleep.
I succumb to sickness,
helpless in my bed,
no strength to cry out,
I just wait
through blurred
days and nights,
for Satan
to finish the job....

No Explain
Fear causing visceral strain
nausea rises like the moon,
full and vain;
not enough……..
never enough……..
greed without end……….
What more is there to gain?
Choking on the tension,
the pleasers refrain.
Gagging on the longing
the loneliness,
the pain.
No excuse.
No explain.
Rest awhile these aged bones…
in the space between
between one breath and the next
meditation is the thing.
Just breathe and
loose the vise again....

Meat Or Veg
MEAT OR VEG?
With an empty bowl an owl may howl;
At drinking beer a deer may sneer;
Porcupine sometimes on pork may dine,
Or rabbit if they can’t break the habit.
I’ve often seen a snake ache for cake
Or a crane in pain for grain.
For pancakes a crocodile will smile for a pile,
For chaff a giraffe may laugh.
But if I was wanting to eat goose,
Standing here with my gun on the loose,
I’d be busy picking a gaggle -
If I wasn’t already gagging for a pickle....

Dead
to see you grieve for you son
in wordless screams
makes my heart quiver
my hands sweat
your hair has gone white
your words slow and soft
no sparkle in your smile or eye
but how could there be
and yet
I am so proud that you allow yourself
to be lost in sorrow
drowning
gagging
suffocating
at this loss
no amount of time will heal
here
I will hold you when you let me
I am your friend
you are still a father, even if he is dead
and I will hold you when you let me....

When Left To Dream...You Find Me Crying.
Ramshackled heart,
rusted chains of indifference,
scars the arms with jagged cuts,
lines encased in deep throated laughs,
gagging on the insolent indifference.
Walk that mile in shoes of lead,
weighted down with suffrance,
magnetized with fetid truths,
masks of righteous lies,
and truths that barely scrap the earth.
When eyes are opened,
the ones sewn shut,
and the brightness blinds for moments,
the stinging breath of something known,
this life is just the dream....

Blowout
The image could not be more clear:
the blowout from a diaper,
recoiling from my precious child
as though she were a viper.
Olfactory assault enough
to bring you to your knees,
the onesie soiled, arms raised, she cries
for you to help her, please.
Shaking, sweating, retching and forlorn,
gagging in the sink, “Who gave our daughter corn?”
