Aging - Tanka

autumn’s rusty ghosts
haunt the naked cherry trees –
memories of fruits...
torpid mists enshroud the sun
with prophecies of winter...

Try Me

Starve me of oxygen
blow me out
or water me down
My inner glow
will keep burning
like a firefly
and shred the darkness
you enshroud me in

What You Need

Seek
The truth
And the light
Let faith come then
Upon your shoulders
Practice and carry it
Let it give you needed strength
Let it assist you through worries
Let it be the blanket to keep warm
For faith should enshroud you eternally

Keats Was Right

Poet’s see beyond the cosmos
that’s why they’re revered
Poet’s leave the final time zone
past and future cleared
Poet’s bow to one volition
high above the clouds
Poet’s live in love’s reflection
— beauty to enshroud

Dear mask of alabaster,
Is writ a song, disaster?
I walk about the place,
Where I face,
Whatever happens after;
Arrive, my compass guide,
As a star to Northern sky:
Be sunrise, or twilight,
Let God's palm,
Keep calming mine;
Grave, enshroud me,
Rock of earth,
Should I carry,
No more worth –

Premium Member Splurge On That Urge

Sometimes I have this urge The urge to cry aloud I do not let it purge I fight that big, black cloud That tempestuous surge Does totally enshroud Till I am on the verge Of being, by tears, cowed I let myself submerge In emotions that shroud In time, I will emerge Stronger than any crowd

Unavowed Promise

Forlorn tinged faces reminiscing old times
Where smiles did not enshroud an ache,
And the grueling effort it had to take,
Cries of help in their throat they were caught
Feeling a shimmer of serenity not a bit distraught,
But that's the thing about pain,
It might leave for brief moments,
But comes back like an unavowed promise from grey clouds to carry the rain.

Rebirth and Reclamation

You don’t have to abandon previous beliefs
to embrace what presents to you now

As windows long open whose portals of light
wrap around each new vision—enshroud

Those messages ancient and all messages new
interlock like the fingers of God

The truth by dimension delivering you whole
—new lightning reclaiming the rod

The Pain of Shame For Good Gain

Facing my Father’s feathery eye.
Racing away to enshroud my shame.
Both have been me, and now I know why
Now I can see; His love brightens my blame
only to wash it away and leave dry
a perfectly pure and snowy-white name

**I wanted to submit this to the quatret contest as well, but I decided to test the more humorous "His Recurring Rumble" instead. This one is by far closer to my heart and style.**

Premium Member The Fold Lifts - He's There in the Mist

The fold lifts - he's there in the mist
   And the world tumbles aside.
We come together and meet lips
As Night's stars fill our eyes.

It's a world of two - two in the world.
The rush - the fire of his touch
Enshroud us as a cocoon would
   And it's everything we want.

The fold suddenly lifts again -
A secret knowledge now in its stead.
I face the garish morning sun
With a smile - though twisted.

Dastardly Dispirited

Sadness within me is my skald,
Ignorant world, taunting my afterworld,
Why is my soul in this soil pinfold...

The sky is filled with dark enshroud,
Am dumbstruck, thunderstorms cloud...

Love is an unloved harken,
The heart in me, a shrunken token...

Fey reliquary in the sand,
Buffing the defoliated leaves off my land,
She lay her tears on my heartland...

Miseries of the silenced one...
Tortured hell gone...

No Light

the lonely night does me enshroud
the moon has gone behind a cloud
i only venture thus aloud
till light returns with love endowed...

ah well perhaps yes we will find another
someone closer than a mother
but life is short and time is thin
slip through the needle hole so grim...
.
That love is blind and we can’t see
Will it survive eternity
To find the other wanted wait
Rebirthed reborne remembered fate?

Fall snow fall,
Over the moaning Paris’ ground,
Let your descending snowflakes a
Healing blanket for the city
To weave
And
Charlie’s slaughtered cartoonists
To enshroud!

Faculty of Consciousness

Pay respects to both your elders
& the rejects

Showing hate to any person
Reflects your inner thoughts

It's best to be at rest
Think things through without acting a pest

Negativity infects the air
Around those who wish to share

Thought-waves emit from our being
While most don't believe what they are seeing

Aura's enshroud & form a cloud
Growing intensity as you read aloud
The words that surround
& can only confound if you decide
to shout...

Chevalier

“Mon Dieu, mon Dieu,”
   he screamed to the crowd

“On stage as a vagabond
   my home you enshroud

“My makeup—my armor,
   my performance—my cause

“Reborn with each act,
   as I hear your applause

“You take me each matinee,
   you take me each night

“To the depths of your hearts
   where my darkness alights

“Mon Dieu, mon Dieu,”
   he shouted again

“Forever my audience
   —forever my friends”

Premium Member Who Will

WHO WILL? With frozen tears, she stands alone, Not knowing what to do, With nobody to call her own, Who will her heart subdue? Listen to her heart thudding loud, She faces the unknown, When darkness does her face enshroud, Who will hearken her groan? With weeping, she worries and frets, Emotions rule her mind, Sometimes, her purpose she forgets, Who will help her unwind? 11.23.2020 (8.6.8.6 syllables)

Premium Member Age Is More Than a Number

Age Is More Than A Number Miracle Man 6/16/2023 Dark clouds, often enshroud any thoughts I might direct toward tomorrow. I’ve always been an achiever, but have shaken hands with defeat. Now my aspirations have been devoured by time. I could always do it all until suddenly I can do little. My past is an unforgiving file, Which leaves me only those brief moments, Called now. Forgive me LORD when I Whine, Forgive me LORD when I whine.

Sandy Times

Sandy Times
Trundling over soft
feet deteriorating downwards

Attempting migration
to impenetrable grains

Dramatic curving seas
landscaped for eyes to dance upon

Cloudy lilied surf
circumnavigates at the foot

Colourful daystar
skulks dreamingly away

Big whites enshroud
the navigating splendor

Scattered coral
Impinges the mind

Pebbles placed into
Intriguing decorations
On now rigid sand

Destinations met
The soul refreshed

Remembering
enjoying
Sandy times
