And after that we had persisted,

Then into service finally enlisted....

Longlasting or short could come at a price
Indulging in odds when rolling the dice.
Fulfillment depends on living a dream

I Didnt Want To
I didn't want to
I didn't want to
Do those things with you
But you persisted
Crushed my soul
Then enlisted
Now your off fighting a war
While I'm here feeling like a whore...

The Opera
The Opera

Last night the opera came to me in bed
Enlisted my attention
I keep my distance
This is twisted
This is a mystery
Of all the things in life that should be missed
The opera is first on the list
To be avoided
Flushed down the toilet
So I did...

Wolverine
Wild as a beast in action
One man of no direction
Living with immortality and screams
Voice over uncontrollable dreams
Exhibits hostility over injustices
Rebounds with amity and kindness
Invincible and unbreakable, but sober
Navigates the world over
Enlisted service man and man of his word...

Premium Member Encased In Grace In God Eyes
I am enlisted
In crisis be
In Lucifer's eyes
I'm a winner
Born a sinner

But to my surprise
I am spared
If only I change
I'll be enchase in Grace
repentive now a more effective witness

Turn around
How profound
Now I'm heaven bound
Encased in grace
In God's eyes
I'm His child

An archer from Sherwood made shooting an art
Persuaded the wealthy from surplus to part.
He fell for a maid at first sight
But fearing to tell her outright
Enlisted friend Eros to capture her heart.

The Promise of Glory
He wanted his glory to be sound
And for medals to be found
So he enlisted to wear the uniform
Looking good even in death would be not forlorn

He did his duty but did not find
The glory that was in his mind
For he was injured and suffered still
There is no glory in this uniform deal.

Forget Me Knot
If you have not met your Maker yet
You may owe your long life to a vet
Especially those
With tags on their toes
Who knew from the start you would forget

women from seeking medical treatment

When I enlisted in the Air Force, homosexuality was illegal,

Then it became optional and has recently been declared legal!

Now that I've been long retired and have grown old and hoary,

I'm thankful I got out before someone decided to make it mandatory!

Standing at Attention The military graveyard is a sea of crosses for veterans of every rank and file. In a neat formation of a country’s losses they are rowed in true enlisted style, white crosses for mile after mile. 12/29/19 Writing Prompt- English Quintain Imagery - Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Dear Heart

Flatulant Fanny
Self-propelled she was
Gas powered
Protective aromatic defenses
Kept away any intended offenses

She filled a room alone
And usually she emptied them
But she was a good girl to the bone,
And enlisted in the Army elite
The "creme de' creme"
Put her on the front line,
Turn her back to the enemy,
Screaming, terrified, running,
That's all of them you'd see....

Casualty Lists
It was 35 Diggers dead each day
Of the Great War for they volunteered to stay
Mounting a total to 60,000 the cost
Each one a son or daughter of the Southern Cross lost

From a country of five million souls strong
416,809 enlisted to the battle front long
And lastly 156,000 became casualties
For us, for freedom the sacrifice was not free.

Premium Member Thank A Soldier
I have often marveled at them,
their courage and resolve.

If they have questions,
they don't ask.

If they have doubts and fears,
They don't show them.

They don't listen to suggestions;
They take orders and carry them out.

They are the enlisted men and women
who bravely serve our country.

This Memorial Day, I remember and salute them
and all the ones who have passed on....

Born of ignorant sod
King of kings, son of God
Halo crown of thorn
Pivotal pinnacles adorn

Crucifix dogwood tree
Suffer so dire malady
Forge rugged cross
Convey sanctioned loss

Purest blossoms white
Pristine petals alight
Tips in sanguine red
Pierced divine bloodshed

Father's grief enlisted
Boughs gravely twisted
Ne'er again use malice
Hardwood most callous

Premium Member I Stand For the Flag
I stand for the flag
It represents patriotism
I stand for justice, truth, freedom

I stand for the flag
It puts a lump in my throat
I stand to show respect to show love

I stand for the flag
It represents the Viet Nam War for me
And the Gulf War when my daughter enlisted

I stand for the flag
Because to me it represents those who gave the ultimate sacrifice
Standing is the least I can do...

A Final Sigh

Anticipation rewarded an ultimate breath

Flurries of inspiration sadly expired

Imbibed in mindfulness she faded

Not without meaning beckoning called

A High Priestess enlisted embraced

Liberation from base earthy plight

Surreal perceptions enlightened the journey

Images bidding farewell unburdened regret

Grounded lightly she levitated across

Her own Self enshrined forever...

"Let there be Light!"
and so there was...

Without the Sun?
How so? Because

Our Father unfurled--
the Light of the world

The Sun and the Moon
--He created... soon--

but Light "self-existed"--
before Sun rays enlisted!

Plebian Bedrock

Honorably mentioned, a talent search.
Perception stifled, from a righteous church.

Disregarded tidings from the far right.
Reckoning the left in the cloaked night.

Will ideology get its respect?
How can middle ground be beyond suspect?

Legitimately justified they point.
Can odd or even simply hide the joint?

Atonement will merge the enlisted group.
Plebian bedrock, right here on the soup.

Apache Kid Outlaw
He was rsised in New Mexico
and became feared more than Geronimo
The army enlisted him as a brave
to track down other braves.
Accused of many crimes
he escaped many times.
He led many raids
with his four braves.
He didn't trust his tribe
so he stayed on the outside.
People say he died
in a fight with soldiers
others say he died in his cave.
Even ranchers claim
to have killed the brave
down in New Mexico way
after a raid....

Poetry Revisited
Meeting Molds Made by Men

This is getting old;
Women fit into men's mold;
What next will unfold?

Men may go to far
Until on warpath women are;
Men now bear each scar.

While we are at church
Must pray for each man's poor soul,
They so badly need.

A comforting thought;
One day they will leave us soon;
Sad poems we will write.

We enlisted in
Poetry Revisited,
To serve our poems well.
(Also our country as well.)
