Your poem is so powerful and important. My uncle was a double amputee from V. Nam He would always learn from a special source when a deceased unnamed soldier was arriving into the US. Dressing in his uniform he would salute them as they arrived on the runway. Your poem moved me so much. I'm grateful to have found it.

When I joined USAF, one could ride from California to the East Coast in uniform with no end to cold beers and friendly company. Hard to believe it is the same country that "welcomed" your uncle home . . . . .

Equality of gender is a must for the peace and prosperity of any nation. No Government can be supported if its policies are discriminatory ! Well voiced, Rico !

God must be very disappointed when Congress opens with a prayer from those without any honourable intention . . . .

My father and grandfather were both in the Navy, so this touches a cord, especially the starkness of those closing lines - also thank you for serving, Rico

I served when servicemen warranted a beer instead of spit that should have been directed at politicians .... thank you or reading and commenting! Aloha!

Completely lacking in integrity, Congress reneged on providing pay and benefits to African-Americans, 250,000 filipinos, DOD conract employees, and other WWII allies. The Supreme Court ruled Congress does indeed have the right to change the terms of an employment contract after the work has been performed.
