Dragon
Either God said to go drag on

Or else a story dragged on for long

This Dragon!...

Gray days
Listless
Depleted
Existence, oddly muted
Minutes drag on
Bears are smart to hibernate
Not much to chirp about...

Days stream by
  leaves on a river
Nights drag on
  hard frozen ground

Life's promise deserted
  barren branches
December's transit
  bound for nowhere...

No Big Deal
The new is always a novelty,
the old just a page in history.

Yet nothing is really changing,
just this tired world spinning.

Life is one monotonous grind,
a drag on this restless mind....

A Theory
I think you are God
I can prove it

When I'm with you
Hours pass in the blink of an eye
When we're apart
Hours drag on to last days

You can manipulate time.
This -among many other things-
Proves to me,
that you are
God...

On A Warm Summers Day
On A Warm Summers Day

On a warm summers day
I met God
Standing in the courtyard
Of my very own backyard
Now here he is
Drawing on my pipe
Passes it to me
Offers me a light
And the mind slips away
Feet drag on the floor
Spinning me in circles
Until I don’t want to be spun
No more...

You
The days drag on my heart is
now yours
The nights are lonesome and bitter
longing for you
The days are passing by and my
Soul remains in place
Dreadfull endings not ceasing to
end my tears
Frozen in place captive by fears
 in my head
Falling for you was the chance for
me to take...

Cuz when we're together, the hours fly by like seconds,
And when we're not, the minutes drag on like days.
The colors fade to black.
Cuz without you, I'm not myself.
You make it seem like I'm invincable,
You make me smile beyond belief.
Forevery is a long time, but I wouldn't mind spending it with you.
Cuz in my book, you're everything that's right....

The Ground
falling
spiraling
tumbling
approaching ground
watch it all
gawk at the sight
who will catch her
who notices her cries
don't tell me lies
don't say those words
why do you care
she could die
and you probably wouldn't notice
her world falls apart
each moment silent agony
why do you pretend
please end her misery
the moments drag on
the ground grows closer
she just doesn't see...

The Fury of Rage
I deleted another poem tonight
and the Muse raged into fury
“You never asked for my permission” she said,
as her voice thundered deeply inside
“You’ll pay for this in sleepless hours
and nights when dreams are truant…”
Her promises kept, my nights defiled,
and days drag on untethered
As I write yet another “I’m sorry” to her
in verse both coarse and dry

(The New Room: May, 2022)...

Premium Member When Long Days Drag On Me
When long days drag on me
And my soul cries in the dark
Then I speak my prayer in sleight
And He slips it into my jar.

Prithee – give it wings to fly up
Beyond to the sapphire throne –
Leaving me amidst where I am
Yet I do not feel alone.

Someday when time is cut sharp –
I'll retrieve it from Whom I belong
And finding a full jar of prayers –
Know that I was never alone....

When You Realize What You Had
Sometimes the afternoons drag on---
Yesterday was a haze of smoke,
Cigarettes and coffee---
And the radio plays
Jazz---
The air gets blurred sometimes
With cigarette smoke and sax

Thinking of you
Makes the afternoons go by faster
Until they blend into dusk,
And then evening---
Evenings without you

But I don't care
It doesn't matter
It doesn't mean anything to me

It's just that smoke
Gets in my eyes...

Always Afraid
I’m always scared,
I’m always at guard
my heart, from pain
skin from scar
she’s always in arms,
but given to such
Need to love
passion to clutch
true, unchained
naked, ashamed
we’re both afraid
we count up the gain
the loss, the fuel
To carry us there
in creation’s direction
distance, fare
We drag on the castle
stilts on wheels, slaved
afraid
dreading the kill
always scared,
bandaging scars

always afraid
always so far...

Who Am I
Who am I?
When I look into that mirror
Who am I?
When I think of how much I miss her

The days drag on
And my soul is so alone
My heart gets chiseled at
But it is still hard as stone

I wonder about the day
Where light will be in my life
Think about the hour
That it will all hit me tonight

No friends looking over
No one to just tell
I’m trapped in this world
It’s my 6x9 cell

So I ask again
Really who am I?
Still no answers
As I sit alone and cry...

Premium Member Broken
Our days are broken
The nights drag on
How many have paid the price
For your self serving song
You will not scare me
I have nothing to lose
Moving ahead
We will play by the rules
I have learned from a master
How to maneuver his charm
Accountability will reign and decide the cost of harm
I did not want this
I loved you dear
You became greedy without any fear
And now
Our days are broken
And
The nights drag on.........................

Simplicity
Your face is like an angel, calming and serene.
I pace back and forth just thinking of when you came into my life.
I honestly believe in you, I'm holding on as the days drag on.
I've become lost in your eyes and I can tell that I was offered a chance.
A chance to be the best I can, to pick myself up and not have a set plan.
Everyday is like a winding road where each turn leads to better things.
I'll hit bumps and get bruised but I'll never be hurt by you....

Falling Asleep Dog Tired
(this poem is a bout falling asleep but there is no category for it)

Heavy lids; burning eyes,
no more chance of getting high.
Dreams both start but don't sound,
as carriage carts drag on cobble stones.

Your heart - slow baritone beats,
pulling you away to sleep.
And it suffers you,
for your loss of control.
It scares you too.
Still, down you must go.
Into the vast sea
of nascent mortality
of terminal vistas.
The hindmost journey
being quiescent aloft....

To Sparkle Once More...
`My nights drag on,
from dusk till dawn,
my mind should be silent,
but my thoughts race,
in the mirror i stare at my face,
my soul is so restless ,
that my mind searches to understand,
who is this person,
I ask, as i touch my face with my hand,
who have i become?
who was i before?
how can life change so fast?
when will it come to an end at last?
i pray and cry,
only in my dreams does my heart fly,
so at long last,
who is this girl who is so different from my past?...
