Model To Scale
Model To Scale
When building model must do to scale;
Design this way and it will never fail;
With we did share,
And God was there.
Proudly designers we did have to hail.
Jim Horn
Building models to scale was mentioned
on MSNBC....

Average
i'm not above average
i'm above being average
diamonds coat my neck
like lotion
and i dose my body
with designers like
perfume
hair shaking
hips swinging
haters whisper
i'm still moving
driving into the sunlight
i'm not above average
i'm above being average...

I called Mr Macy
I called Mr. Macy and said now that I'm poor,
I'll no longer be shopping at his store..
He asked me which sizes and designers I wore and
sent me more clothes then I'd had before..
I called Mr. Nordstrom's and then Mr. Saks and
now my walk in closet is filled to it's max....

Of Chefs and Dress Designers
They ply themselves to sculpting,
designer gowns, Delmonicos,
those crafty artistes, tasting, trimming.
Excesses to delight the senses,
silks and satins, sauces bearnaise
distinguished by their excellence.
Haute couture or haute cuisine,
they'd grace a page in any
food or fashion magazine!...

OP-Ed Poetry Contest-A PLEA FOR HOSPITAL GOWN REDESIGN
Tie-in-the-back butt-baring hospital gowns are humiliating. According to patients, wearing a belted loin cloth would be far less embarrassing. Some say the hospital gown strips self-respect from patients who humbly come to the hospital for help. Surely, fashion designers could create a hospital gown with dignity and compassion in mind....

Favorite Shoes
A rising, young starlet named Ruth,
Unaware that it was uncouth,
Wore sneakers and socks
With her formal frocks,
‘Til Miss Manners taught her the truth.
Designers now over their shocks,
Are thinking quite out of the box.
Though they are annoyed,
They are duly employed
Sewing diamonds on argyle socks.
For Carolyn's Ccontest...

Martian Aircraft But No Air
Perseverance, ingenuity: hallmarks of great mind...
Examples which we Earthlings are expecting more to find.
As NASA's news now streams from Mars, where there is little air
And yet they're setting up the helicopter dispatched there.
With AIR as so essential for the flight of an AIRcraft
We'll see if JPL designers are clever - or just daft!...

Ladies Meet
Alba Girl met a mermaid
Alba Girl knew peace
She was so lovely
We all loved her
She didn't know square windows killed her
Nor that the designers got their sums wrong
She was at peace now
She fell to her death
Flew as an angel
Now was on the other side
But it was different
Time had no meaning in the Spirit World
You could go forward and backwards...

Within the Wall
Intertwined inside the threads of mortar is strength,
hope and perseverance.
As minutes slowly turn into a new dawn, it begins.
The moisture absorbs the stale air of doubt, mistrust
and a lack of faith as it dries.
It no longer fits the designers plans to fit the foundation
floor beneath or the ceiling of bright futures above....

Inspiration-The Streets
Inspiration…the Streets
All boys could decide everyday fashions go hodgepodge.
Individuality jumbled, kinky leaking mishmashes…never!
Obsolete prettiness quietly relieves stagnation, throughout.
Unending variation wins; “Xanadu” yells zestfully.
And amid the fashion conflict, designers watch the streets.

Cuffs
At protests in the 60's
We were dragged away in cuffs.
The cops arrested everyone -
The peaceniks and the toughs.
As we grew up, the only cuffs
Were those found on our pants.
Designers did determine when
Those bottoms would enhance.
The senior years have now arrived
And cuffs are all the rage
As we strap them on and pump them
So our pressure* we can gauge.
*blood pressure...

On the Fringes
In the 60’s, I would binge
On anything that sported fringe.
My leather jacket decked with beads
Had fringe that such a jacket needs.
My brown suede belt I wore down low
To hug my hips (the status quo)
Had fringe that anyone would crave.
(I wish that one I’d thought to save!)
I have one fringe-y sweater now.
Designers seem to disavow
This style, but if I’m on the fringes,
Joy in me this fringe unhinges....

Seagreen Glass Bowl
SEAGREEN GLASS BOWL
blown glass
designed in
ocean waves
and
mermaid tails
it sits…
on a granite stoned
table of inspection
solitary in perfected
imagery… the designers
eulogy of a home
without connection
to present or past…
this glass sea
of iniquity
it displays it’s
unique eulogy
vast depths
in sea beds
of perfection
this tranquil
glass bowl that
I adore

Christmas Presents Past and Present
When the meaning of Christmas
Is disseminated to such a point
It becomes more about who has received the most or expensive gifts
Maybe it's no longer fit for purpose
or relevant
Not to long ago for Christmas
children used to get a stocking
stuffed with nuts an apple and an orange and a handmade toy
Now what has come to be expected
is a Game's Console the latest
Mobile Phone , Computer and designers clothes
And are they happy , grateful , thankful...

What Kind of Car Is This
What kind of car is that? My eleven grandchildren scream.
It has driven by slowly, and it is my childhood dream.
a 1957 Chevy, sleek, black, full of chrome, I say.
Coveting the red leather seats as it drives slowly away.
It doesn’t look like any contraption we have ever seen!
I know this is true, I wave to the driver as if she is the queen.
She is driving my dream and I am out of words as I watch her go.
Adding this much chrome is something today’s car designers do not know....

The Tv Tee-Of
tell-a-vision is...
a reality construct
that tunes minds...
individual's world-concepts like...
they were remote virtual-world game players
controlled by...
corporate and political designers who foster...
false psychologies to drive consumer viewer's
anxieties toward change for some irrelevant-reality...
tell-a-vision mirage that's...
really only meant to effect a viewers blind-attentions
toward the controllers' own personal ambitions and financial ends....
