Moon Glow
The moon courted the night sky not to hide her
For the candle's burning low.
Lovers' face all aglow.

My peripatetic parrot went to sea
  where he met a perspicacious chickadee

He courted her a bit too parsimoniously

Danger and Darkness Courted
Danger and Darkness Courted

Much danger and darkness courted;
What I could do is have it thwarted;
Never love;
Get rid of,
Or transported away and be aborted.

The Aunt Dance
An Italian once courted my Aunt

Who was bitten by ants in his pants

     So he screamed, "Mama Mia!"

     "I got the gonorrhea!"

That's when he learned the frying pan dance!

Premium Member You Cried
Listen to poem:
You cried at losing, as some do;
Not I. Determined to accrue
That credit to my name
I courted and called fame,
I steeled myself and stood,
Rigid -- upright -- and would
Not deign reveal what graced
My form: two faces,
                              both mask-encased....

Song of the Swan
Were you invited
to the party
Do you paint
 or write or sing
Have the voices
come to visit
Did new feelings
lodge within
Were you courted
by seduction
Has your soul
become entranced
As you sit alone
and wonder
Will this be
—the final dance

Narwhals, Is Chivalry Dead
Narwhals, Is Chivalry Dead?

Narwhals cycle arctic coasts
amidst the icepack
ancient seasoned routes

swordfights, competition, Spring
female conquests are courted
mystic spiral tusks

alphas chose the heartiest
basking in the sun
coastline guides the species well

Autumn Arrives
on waves of
sheer exhilaration
for those summer
  worn bodies
hungry for horizons
enveloped in
  colorful palettes
fall is courted
with the best
of intentions
clearly
 a moody lover
   who year after year
whispers goodbye
in piles of leaves
         among rapidly
vanishing vistas...

Rose Roses of Trust
Trust is a rose
to be offered to the courted woman...
The sage offers a wise woman,
But fools offer the smart women...
The fake ones offer the faithful brides...
The faithful to the jealous wives...
All offer roses to their favorites female...
 Thanks God there's no shortage of roses
at the  rose bushes...!...

A King's Courtship
Merging threads of fate, our lives
Attached to one another. Gold, fame,
Jewels pouring like knights ramming the gates,
Entering, and conquering foreign, feeble lands. I
Surrendered myself to his love, hoping in
Time I would become his only Queen.
In love am I, fell have I by being
Courted by the King-- my King....

Premium Member Zuni and Zulu Remain Single
Zuni and Zulu cute twin gorillas
They loved the most insane hairy fellas
They courted them expertly
Fed them sweet chamomile tea
For they were such conniving bellas

Jake and Jim went to their hut for tea
Both fell for Zuni unfortunately
Zulu was so mad
She called them both “Cad”
So neither were offered matrimony...

Traveling Soles
Look familiar
Where you started from
Shoes laced you up
Made you come

Walking unknown streets
Stepping with future's feet
Mapquest to different times
Memories calling out
Like weathered chimes

Courted future and past
Strolled in the present
Shadowed footprints cast
Changed all directions
That will always last...

Premium Member Grandma and Grandpas Swing
My grandfather put up the swing when he courted grandma
I know it had a history only known to the two of them
It was always there, in the thirty-seven years I knew them.

The day grandfather died, I watched the swing fly up in the air
Grandma materialized briefly and smiled at me.
That’s how I knew he had made it to heaven....

In Every Sense
In every sense I smell his love
When the pure-scented moonlight bathes my window
Reflecting its tresses inside and the night-breeze
Spills a bouquet exploding of wonderful colors
Of evocations to mind which stroke perfumed
Warm touch on my glowing skin courted
By lavender whispers of memory… hmm…there
In every sense I smell his love....

Premium Member Ring Rang Rung Wrong
I met UFC and she courted me.
She made me wanna hit!
But I stood back from the ring,
Not battered, but better I became.

It's no life worth livin' to get
your bell rang.

Or worse, to punch a good man
to his death,

Just to get the gawkers to
sing your song!

And move up the rung
to where you think you belong.

The escalation seems so wrong....

Milady Death
Milady Death
~~~~~~~~~~~
For years I've courted her
Oh my love, The Lady Death
I've begged her affection on endless nights
When only she could hear my pleas
Danced in her warm embrace only to be spurned
Deemed unworthy of more than that it seems
Although many times I've tasted her bright and blissful kiss
She chose me naught as a lover
So now I resign myself simply to be her consort....
Premium Member He'D Have Been a Star
He'd have been a baseball star, but he couldn't hit a curve
  A Hollywood celebrity, but never got the break he deserved
He's start a company, make a few million, but his nerve did fail him
  Join the army, win a war, but his fear of death did slay him
It seemed wherever he did turn, his dreams were always thwarted
  Until he married the girl next door, the girl whom he'd first courted...
