Primrose
citrine shine petals

flips like frills of frocks

A Friend Descends the Steps of the High Museum of Art
Her skin, pale and fragile
as bone china
protected by a heart
inviolable, gilded threads
weft and warp cloth-of-gold
that flys pennoned from her
shoulders, red hair burning
brighter as she competes
with the setting sun...

Wild woman can outrun a stallion
Out laugh a hyena
Out drink a camel

Wild woman knows her strength
Her spirit rivals the ocean
Competes with the mountains
Shines through the shadows of the forest

Wild woman cannot be held back
She lives her truth, dazzling the rest of us
We stay out of her way...

Shop On the Street
There's a shop on the street
that sells foetid meat
There's a boy on the corner
His corpse competes with the odour
There's dust covering mankind
the cruel and the kind
Ochre villages and towns
where death rains down
It's gender specific
noisy horrific
I seen it on telly
I ate ice cream and jelly
It's far away from me
But my heart is breaking......

Tasty Funs
only a direction,
learnt, everywhere,
from different ones.

full education and training,
a bundle of references,
for tasty funs.

but lost a way,
where progress competes,
a successive runs.

arguments, a burning matter,
sharing or non sharing material,
Trust or dis-trust guns.

for settlements,
prosperity and peace,
Otherwise life exists for nones....

This Is What I Think
What does a woman want?
a beautiful skin? No
Beauty queen to be seen? No!
This is what I think

Every woman beautifying
competes with naked nature
to become its princess
this too could be wrong

This is what I think
a very beautified woman
points towards a deficiency
a malnourishment of love

This is what I think
if she beautifies the hair
and paints body with cream
hidden advertisements they are...

Apple Pie
My jeans are tight I don't know why
It must of been that apple pie
I couldn't resist it piping hot
With lots of custard draped on top.

That soft lush pastry just makes me go yum
As my mouth competes with my tum
I feel so bloated and fit to drop
When I tuck in, I must remember to stop.

I know I ate a little too much
But an apple pie wasn't meant just to touch
So get stuck in and start to eat
You know you deserve a little treat....

The Goodwill
More and more
its like a big-box-store
with what had been worn
(whether tattered or torn)
never given to the poor.
There's only rising prices
more and more.

While the making of beautiful
paintings or hours spent doing
needlecraft is tossed on piles
in frames
as detritus with no names
anymore.

Dust covered glassware
competes with sofa springs
for space on the floor
as other days bring fresh donations
of creations
to discard
more and more....

Memo
Although a period has no real jurisdiction,
It has substantial reason and purpose.

Bringing to mind its’ weight in space,
as well as, on paper.

What this solitary mark does,
Enables a pause.

Indicating ultimate culmination, this mark competes, only with
the colon, leaving nothing more to say,

Unless it is to filch some jurisdiction from its’ fellow marks;
none of which, can lawfully tell.

This period reeks of authority!

Between the Lines
The daily start through the curtain shines
Grudgingly opens his sleepy eyes
The morning competes with heavy sighs
As thoughts lock in to the daily grind.

Another day, another try
another battle in his punished mind
Proleptic pines imagines better times
And a different life from a different design.

He confronts the clash and all it’s crimes
A conscious decision to fight the good fight
The day ticks over and as time flys
He learned to live between the lines....

Premium Member View From the Hammock
When sun's bright rays scorch the earth's face,
when dust grit strays to cover every space,
faded blossoms weep while Daffodils sleep
'neath Snapdragon's shade.

Then lily buds burst in rainbow array,
birds slake their thirst in water-hose spray,
as Rose of Sharon competes with Herculean feats
of Cardinal Vine's parade.

The lazy summer breeze will make me pause
while monotone of the bees will give me cause
amid summer's quest to seek quiet rest
in solstice serenade....

Niki Birrell
Niki was born on August the 17th, 1986,
And is a British Paralympic sailor strong,
Who joins forces with his brother, picks,
To sail the sea, the waves to get along.

Born with Cerebral Palsy he competes,
In the 420 class, the keel to keep afloat,
He came 5th in Beijing among the fleets,
Where he joined Rickman in the boat.

In London 2012 he took a solid bronze,
In the SKUD 2-person keelboat event,
Because between 2009 and 2011, oz,
The two won four World titles to tent....
