Premium Member If I Had Money
If I had money
All cheeses
Of the world
Would I display
For our guest
List of hundreds
Spinning my bride
Dancing for the stars
Seen sitting or standing
Glimpsed so majestically
Above us
Entwined
In each other’s arms...

The value of a fresh hot pizza is immeasurable
Loaded with cheeses, all the things I shouldn’t eat
Sitting in front of the television, every bite pleasurable
I’m always happy when someone says, “Pizza would be neat!”

Premium Member A Novel Use For a Plumber's Snake
Pa hankered cheeses of every kind.

Alas, it placed him in a painful bind!

"For fast relief", said his wife,

"Plumber's snakes should ease yer strife!"

"No thanks! I'll use Ex-Lax for my behind!"

The Big Bang
Whales and snails
Bees and fleas
Apples and eagles
All from the Big Bang

Planets shine and align
Bananas and cheetahs
Seashore and dinosaurs
All from the Big Bang

Peaches and cheeses
Asparagus and cactus
Human eye and butterflies
All from the Big Bang

Newborns and acorns
Pandas and pooches
Goose and spruce
All from the Big Bang

My Measure
Bring me not the humdrum,

Just bring good things to me.

Fine wine, and cheeses

And books of poetry.

Let me debate a philosopher,

Let him steel my mind.

Then, we could quaff good ale

And drink till we were blind.

Just for a little while,

Give me naught but pleasure.

Then when it's back to the grind,

I'll feel I've had my measure....

I Remember Do You
I remember
Going to your house and spending the whole day
I remember
Playing fun games with you
I remember
Us going to Chuck-E-Cheeses, the water park, and the zoo
I remember
The day I left and never came back
I remember
Asking when I would see you again
I remember
That you were my one and only friend
I remember
I never saw you again
I remember do you...

Premium Member Mushy the Dwarf Woman
Mushy the dwarf woman lived a stress-free life.
She had berries, acorns, cheeses and no strife.
Her husband introduces her as his fifth wife.
She is a master cook who wields a fine steak knife.

Mushy knew his other wives, the angry four.
They sometimes met her in the grocery store.
They had mean stories about her man and his snore.
She got angry and threw at them a juicy apple core....

Premium Member A Day With Me
What do you want to do today? How about we...

Make fresh coffee
Stay in bed late
Work on puzzles
Read books
Play guitars
Write songs
Go flying
Take a bike ride
Stop at a craft fair
Drink tea
Try new cheeses
Watch the sunset
Build a fire
Listen to music
Eat sushi
Smoke cloves
Snuggle under the covers
Stay up late talking

Anything else? Ok, what do you want to do tomorrow?...

Premium Member Thanksgiving's Picky Boy
He passed on turkey, passed on ham
and even on Mom’s candied yams!

He passed, for sure, on salad greens
and carrots, peas and lima beans!

He passed on Mom’s best home-baked bread
and cheeses ready to be spread.

The gravy and the mashed potatoes:
Those he passed on - and tomatoes.

Mom then served desserts; we knew
he’d pass on pie and ice cream too!

But for fruit JELLO, the small brat
yelled, “Mom, please pass me ALL of that!”...

Premium Member My Go To Sandwich
Peanut butter and jelly is my go-to sandwich every day.
You can have your turkey, beef, and salami, all your very way.
I care not for pickles, relish, ranch, mustard, or mayo.
Please hang on to your onions, lettuce, and bit of tomato.

Peanut butter and jelly is the sandwich of my dream.
I do not care about pork – barbequed or steamed.
Just make sure the jelly is grape, and not strawberry.
You can save the meats and cheeses for my cousin Harry....

The Wise Cheese

An old and mature cheese of very great age,

Considered among cheeses to be a sage,

Spoke these wisdoms to the sausages and pies,

“You depend on fillings, not on size.”

Then all the cheeses gathered hands

And danced the foxtrot in the sands.

The pies replied, “Aged cheese, you are wise.”

“They is sausages and we is pies.”

Teluric
the house on the hill was left behind,
along with the dairy cows.
here in the valley the trees look more leafy
and the birds sing louder.
further south the stream widens
and the fish grow in size.
I hope the townspeople
buy my grandmother's cheeses.
on the way back I already know what I'll do,
I will take off my tight shoes
and I will run barefoot through the grass,
carrying in the pockets of old jeans
which will make grandma's smile shine....

In Praise of Cheeses
At breakfast time, don’t give me eggs
Or pancakes or French toast;
Some coffee and a cheese-topped bagel
Is what I like most.

Gouda, Muenster, Edam, Swiss,
American or Brie;
Jarlsberg, Asiago, Jack –
They all work fine for me.

I’m not a fan of smelly ones,
And blue cheese I despise;
I guess I’m more pedestrian
And not so worldly-wise.

But still, I’d like to offer praise
To every type that pleases;
The world would be a sadder place
If it did not have cheeses....

Austrian Splendour
Praise to the beautiful mountains and lakes,
The humble log abode that provides a home,
Where the parents and children of Austria live.
The wooden table where they sit and dine,
Delicious foods prepared, freshly baked bread,
Cheeses and cakes and cookies,
Dinners cooked to perfection,
The bright dirndls the women wear,
And the lederhosen worn by the men,
Evenings of good music and singing,
An exquisite destiny to visit again.

My Cheesy Pizza Rolls
My cheesy pizza rolls
Only you know
About my love
When i put on my glove
To take you out of
That oven's steel fortress
Because you are hot
I know i'm not
Going to burn my tongue
Because i am still young
And i like my taste buds
So i will wait
The ten minutes it takes
On top of my stool
For you to cool
Cause of your boiling sweetness
I am wanting more
Than the smell of your
Melting four cheeses
One bite and i'm falling into pieces
Because you are
My cheesy pizza rolls...

Premium Member The End of An Autumn Day
Eventide approaches, with beauty in the air.
Soft breeze blow with graceful gladness.
A slight zephyr blew throughout the trees,
As lads kick at leaves of various hues.
But now the day is over and all feel hungry,
Arriving home, the smell of squash and garlic,
a homely pumpkin soup, a crusty bread,
cheeses of all types, and roast lamb or beef.
Fully satiated, all repair for a goodnight's sleep,
in barns, tents or beds provided for comely spouses.
Oh, would that autumn never end....

Jet Lag
Many things improve with age,
Like wine and certain cheeses,
But others turn to hurricanes
What once were gentle breezes.

Like jet lag – for the younger folk,
It barely makes a ripple,
While older flyers feel effects
In double, even triple.

For hours in an airplane,
In your 20’s, is just fun,
Though for every decade added,
Every synapse comes undone.

The young and old are different
In the ways that they are wired,
With jet lag in proportion to
The years that one’s acquired....
