Jet Lag

Many things improve with age, Like wine and certain cheeses, But others turn to hurricanes What once were gentle breezes. Like jet lag – for the younger folk, It barely makes a ripple, While older flyers feel effects In double, even triple. For hours in an airplane, In your 20’s, is just fun, Though for every decade added, Every synapse comes undone. The young and old are different In the ways that they are wired, With jet lag in proportion to The years that one’s acquired.

I don't believe I've ever experienced jet lag, and I've flown many times in my life. Perhaps it's because I fall asleep easier coming home than when going to my destination? Anyway, glad back. Nicely written. / M

Wow and wow again! I really enjoy your poetry and I can relate to this exactly as you have written it. I know how this felt and feels. Flying, once an adventure is now more of a pain than anything else.

It is the presurization that makes the body ache and feel beat up Ilene, and you are certainly right, age makes a big difference in how quickly we recover from jet lag. If you have witnessed how a plastic water bottle inflates and deflates during take off and landings, our bodies react that way. I enjoyed this. : )

Great ilene, Peter and I travelled to UK three times in 1998 and not once did we get jet lag, I think you might find the younger ones get it more than us oldies, but I think it depends on the person, but this is a terrific write my friend, take care.......Vera

I know exactly what you mean Mrs Ilene. When I went to China, when i got there I felt like a folded up card table. Took me days to get the kinks out. Get some rest, have a glass of sherry, tomorrow's another day:) Fun read!
