Little effort inviting a charley horse
an open wound decays near a sterile gauze
useful waters with plankton
harsh labour for a Briton
no attitude to toil and moil with no cause....

Ouch! Alright, I confess to overuse,
But easy does it, tiger. Good grief!
Must you kick me when I'm down?
When do you go numb? I beg, release...
Your grip on my achy calf muscle!...

Premium Member Charley Barley Pig
sweet tooth pig Charley Barley had cupcakes on her head.
tied into an oversized crystal goblet, full of sugarplums all red.
there were lollypops and m and m’s, so she would be well fed.
we followed her all over hoping she would drop a few my cousin said....

A Golden Egg
For Charley, I write a char-lay
a piece with extra twist bar none.
Dull thought laid aside for a day
shar-penning a lay just for fun.

When it comes to how words are spun,
some eggheads plain don't want to play.
Soft-shell poets away they run
unafraid of eggs they may lay.

Premium Member Pain Has Changed Her
Three days of brutal angry pain has changed her
Eighty-two hours of pain
She is joyless now
Irritation and meanness,
Gritting of the teeth
Feeling mean, everything hurts

She just got a Charley Horse in her leg
Old age is killing her
She is angry with her body today
The one that is failing her
Letting her down in so many directions
Pain has changed her completely...

Premium Member Welcome To Troll Head House
Troll head house with her flower decorated hair
looks like a place you would enter on a dare.
It is a troll; her name is Miss Claire.
You’ll drop into a tunnel in her sweet little lair.

It will be fun; there is Charley, a nice polar bear.
His wife is Charlene, she will give you a dare.
Do not be provoked or tricked into teasing Miss Claire.
She is ready to turn the next person into a grizzly bear....

After the Flood
After the flood
cats and cars slipped under the long night,
only to drift backward
as if yesterday still pulled them in.

Old Charley Winslow died
before the flood,
but when the river threw itself
over the dike
he was seen to float out of a lower window.

Lots are gone.
Welcome mats and whistle pigs,
sheds and shingles,
plastic peddle carts.

Lots never made it back to yesterday.
Lots of underwater things....

Cnn Senryu
if bombs fall on a
far off place can CNN
make us feel the pain

woman lies about
her color do we color
her in black and white

man massacres nine
innocent souls yet some care
more about burnt flag

Charley Cotton blames
the dead for dying because
they didn't want to kill

a flag flies above
intolerance lives below
hate lives between them

emancipation
reshaped a nation don't fly
stars and bars no more...

Premium Member Beatnik Charley
Beatnik Charley had glowing fingers of soul
When they began tapping a beat, there was never a goal.
They understood people, and had them dancing around.
He had a unique way of drumming.
An incredible sound!

Beatnik Charley brought in women all over New York.
Many were vegetarians, other smelled totally of pork.
They were his groupies, loving him for being who he was.
We began his followers fast.
He was such a cool fuzz!...

* Bird Soup
Charley crouching quietly, his tail
wagging back and forth.

Intently watching the birds at the
feeder, close by.

The birds eating, flying back and
forth, his tail going faster.

He is thinking I just found my
dinner, bird soup yum.

Quick as a wink he leaps forward
for them, they flutter away.

He sits looking puzzled, wondering
why they flew away, there went dinner.

He gives up, goes back napping and
dreams of the 'bird soup that got away'...
