Late
There was no sound from her,
but that of rattling plates
and microwave beeps.

The hour was late
as I sat with the dog,
one shoe off,
jacket unbuttoned....

New Boy
NEW BOY

New boy on the block
Walk home from bus
Driver hardly acknowledges my ticket
Beeps it condescendingly
I walk past the gated development
Security guard gradually grudgingly
Learns to nod in my direction
Another six months and he smiles...

Premium Member Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep
When you play fifty or sixty
scrabble games day
you get incessant beeps
on your cell phone

day and night,
weekends, and week days.
It is a comfort
knowing other insomniacs are up,
not able to sleep either.
I love this!

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep....

Perspective
The ground is moving faster
I can’t ever seem to catch up
To where I was

Clock beeps at light, at dark
I won’t wake up
Back here

Rapid-fire tasks add up and
I will never measure up
Why try?

If there was a grand design
Mountains and the oceans sum it up
And we'll all die...

Her Weary Tale
By beefs and creeps,
She always weeps,
Although her sorrow sleeps,
Happiness Nevers beeps.

Times she swears,
Her eyes filled with tears,
Cries loud like bears,
Fall on only deaf ears.

Cracks formed on the wall,
All problems become tall,
She might slightly fall,
And maybe die for all....

When the Money Runs Out
When the money runs
out. Silhouettes of
shadows. Abandoned
buildings with boarded
windows. Crumbling brick
-facades. The gray sky
hides the wind. Every
-thing expands. The eye
-s see far into the
distance. No more touch.
Words lose meaning. Empty
train tracks. Electronic
music beeps and fades....

to his grandkids,
But I am thankful for

No matta wat death cant
do us apart.

Stillness
The birdsong’s interrupted by
The lawn machine next door.
I cannot hear the tweets and trills
Above the mower’s roar.

An airplane flies by overhead;
The garbage truck makes beeps,
But suddenly, the man-made noises
Cease and there are cheeps.

Though sounds of nature coexist
With man’s cacophony,
Cessation of the latter
Brings a stillness sweet to me....

Tired
Half-conscious I stumble down the halls,
I open my eyes as I smack into a wall.

Sitting on the ground thinking of the breakfast I skipped,
I get up, look at my homework, it's ripped.

I drag myself to Math, already falling asleep,
I reach my chair and the announcement beeps.

"Stand for the anthem!" Someone says,
"Why?" I moan.
It's 8:50 and I want to go home....
