Bank Shot

It was my turn and I ran the table
I was never known as incapable
	Last was the 8 ball
	I made a good call
And I double banked it is the fable.

Freedom To Assemble

The right to protest's sacrosanct

Yet on one thing the Founders hadn't banked

Eh, Pal What Are Your Chances of Winning

Eh, pal what are your chances of winning?
Ah, you could have banked all this saving
for an early retirement...
to cherish that sentiment!
When you're completely broke, start cringing!

Biblio-Rasa

black and white photos
 with no black
  they're blank
	i blinked
  and banked
my book
      would not
     be a
  blanc album
      record
  of a full life
    we never lived

Dreaming

Saffron vanishing from the curved
glass of a lamp, arms and legs
banked in their sea-swept amber,
and underneath the tawny sand-
here too I am
forever anchored
-in this land
 of dreaming

Blue Day

Black banked ominous clouds above
Heavy heart circulates blood
Tiny raindrops fall and splatter
Tear drops threaten to flood

Holiday season happy times
Family plans grand fun
Should be a season of hope, cheer
Though times life feels undone

Winter '47

Snow banked high against the gate
Walking to school,never late

Milk left solid on the cill
Ears well muffled,against the chill

Rationed coal,eked ,bit by bit
Fire grates, so rarely lit.

Nights of cold,run into weeks
'Til grass through iron soil,peeked.

Mighty Presence

There is a striking vision Mountains entered my heartstrings And painted the horizons Blue azure near me Mighty in their presence here Secure in their own powers Keeping me entranced with awe Cold snow banked mountains Russell Sivey

The Tornado

Fast and furious energy
Spinning into my orb’s flatness
A rotating funnel
It whirls and spirals
Rearranging what was
Mind reflected
In its menacing eye

Force fields emerge
Pressing together
Two lives
Fires once banked
Flame anew
Mindless of what should be
What is emerges
Love’s tensile strength transmuted

Picture Perfect

thoughts drift back to us
the happy times laughter filled
smiling blue eyes sparkling, mischievous,
the tickle of your beard
but that was long ago

I found our pictures
hidden face down, buried,
beneath bits of memory
small gifts of love

there was love
short-lived, brilliant
blossoming unexpectedly again

aged love
banked fires

handfasted

The Alabaster Ball

THE ALABASTER BALL

Earth sent invitations
To a danse one night
Requesting all invited
Please – to come in white.

The glass-coached clouds assembled
And the Ebon Sky
Banked its brightest fire,
Snuffed each candled eye.

Then the Winds belled music
Set a whirling pace
And down the Heavens
Waltzed the Snows,
In their finest lace.

In Deep Winter

In deep winter,
in the heart of cold,
his days are met
with endless snow
resembling nothing
so much as waves,
white as salt,
banked against
the walls of his house,
above window sills,
sealing doors,
denying escape.

He lost count
of the buried days,
so come the thawing,
the regaining of his lonely mind,
anywhere but here called,
whispering escape.

The Loan

My thought was our love
Was to big to fail
That we had more than enough
Until I found out

It didn't last long
All on account
Of the pressures we had
That started to mount

What I had banked on
What I thought we both had
I failed to use
The proper math

And now that it's gone
I wish I had known
That when we gave each other our hearts
It was only a loan

Banked Clouds

Banked clouds hide the sun
     Fog a gauzy sheer veil
The Whip-Poor-Will finally stopped
Doves now sing in the dale

That Whip-Poor-Will's fast jazzy song
     Was an alarm clock's tune
He sang and sang 'til exhausted
     While looking at the moon

Will sleep the day like so many
     He'd fit right in today
The young guys would love him plenty
At night he'd play and play

December Reverie

Is there a time when love is new?
Love is old~
as old as the rocks, the sea, the air.
Love is a liar as timeless as eternity.

The singer sings her blue song,
the sort that lingers such a long time
after the truth has been washed
in the whiteness of life.

The memory of you lies against my heart,
like a cold soul seeking an ember
from the banked fire,
in the depth of a winter night.

Day's Work

The creature banked furiously,

slamming his opponent forward,

gushing blood,

ripping flesh,

and all in a day's work.

The fight had no particular grace,

only fury,

only anger,

and the night sky- a witness,

and all in a day's work.

His opponent hit him twice,

shattering bones,

and crushing muscle,

but he had to stay strong,

losing, could make everything go wrong.

A Question

A Question

Is the nectar
of anticipation sweeter
than the wine distilled
from tomorrow turned yesterday?

Is the tender moment
of profound release
sustaining enough to bridge
the emptiness left in its wake?

Is a song unsung
wilting on mute lips
sadder than the banked fire
fading in sightless eyes?

Is the coming of rain
to an arid heart
less fearsome than the
rage of the tempest bearing it?

He Was Only 17

He crushed his heart. On hopes flutteringly light as butterfly wings. On dreams foolishly bright as silver bells. On dreams seemingly fine and looking good. He broke his heart. On tales of lust hewn from his faint heart. He banked his faith on the words of a woman. He lost his sight searching into darkness. He thought it wise to love once and never again. He thought he had found his only love. His only hope. He was only 17

Burning

A pile of leaves
 Lays peaceful quiet
Till one day
 It burst into flames
Some where inside
 Unseen unknown
A heat burned
 Fire to come
One day
 Without reason
Some times where is
 In people hidden
A fire burning
 Banked and controlled
Not fully
 Ever out
Till one day
 Without warning
Unseen reasons
 It explodes in flame
Uncontrolled and foolish
 Lashing out in pain
Causing pain and hurt
 Unthinking without reason

I Am Not a Looser

I am not a looser.
For I played life to my ability’s brim.
Fouled at times, but often stroked fairly.
 Nonetheless I did not win.

Did cross limits, did obey norms,
Staked everything, even not owned ones.
Banked on me and myself.
Well, I cannot make it.

Something slipped, I don't know what,
Some times flipped, but I can't figure out.
In retrospective, I did not reach there
The mark was way beyond me.

Since then I am staying here; stagnant.

Choreographed Feeding

The seagulls rose, dipped and
banked
In an ageless, timeless
seashore dance
Caught in a foamy hypnotic
trance
Of bubbling pomp and
circumstance.

Triangular wings and snow
white breasts
Skimming rolling, crashing
crests
A blur of half seen silhouettes
Of madcap, graceful pirouettes.

But when they catch the
elusive prize
With accelerated flaps they rise
On a zig zag course for open
skies
Amid raucous threatening
throaty cries.

I Was Born To Be Loved

I was born to be loved
this is my right on earth
but after this life on earth
I do not mind being hated

Hate me but you meet only bones
useless bones in my grave
a being that cannot react
and you waste time hating them

I was born to be loved
but if I do not love as loved
take it for granted you have banked it
I will compensate when we meet again

Things cannot fall asunder
the love you give to me
is the love someone will refund
in this world life is an exchange!
