Autumn’s allure adds an awareness
as ancient Aspen’s amber aura alights all around.

"Crime and Punishment"
lies open upon his lap.
A fly alights page
two hundred seventy three
and both continue to read.

Charted lanes of custom,
complacency alights
familiarity trumping all
—mindless in the night

RAPTOR
sparrow hawk alights-
the chattering
stops
just one flap of wings-
the raptor makes its kill
pouncing down at will
fearless adventurer wearing wings
alights at end of my fingers
i keep my garden hose steady
unknown bird dips low
loving her drinks
round and round it comes down,
white small stars of delight,
cool tongue as it alights
brisk light crystalline gown

The anguish of the creation
is carried deep into the wind’s heart
and alights upon the clouds
so that it will come back
as a gushing water
upon the Earth.
for each,
God has given a purpose
some be movers and shakers
as a mighty oak
most, however,
are but a simple blade of grass
on which a butterfly alights
Form:
aquire
spitfire
retire
expire
To soar on wings aquire spitfire fly,
last flight alights retire expire sigh.

In the frigid silence of glacial eve, penguins gather tight.
Emperors, waddling half in black, under half-lit southern night.
One dreams of flight, yet stays on course; with colony alights.
Grey
clouds
above-
the sunshine
hides 'neath the duvet..
so,
so
tired
ebbs the tide..
of enertia:
a
call,
a word
in season-
flowers deep within
and
hope
alights
again on
optimism's tree.
Hurtling up steps
scaling the heights
Steaming ever onward
no end in sight
Remove the blinders
dear friend, anticipate
each moment ~
ere it alights
a butterfly
alights momentarily. . .
beauty limited
to five short lines
preserved forevermore

From at to eye imagination alights and explodes. In another's minds eye..matures,excites,ignites..impregnates,conceives..birthes a new creative impulse.
The melodic effect
this beauty of sound..
stays upon the ear

the melodic effect
this beauty of sound..
stays upon the ear
each pulse of light, surprise delight
if we be not shrouded in fright
recognising earth life transience
thereby with joy in resonance
bliss from which soul never alights

what though there be a garden of flowers
the essense of the whole distilled to but a drop
the humble bee alights
frozen in time and purpose
sucking the nectar of its created heaven
in the now in the here
gridlocked
An image
alights
as a butterfly
in Spring
A thought
arrives
as inspiration
on the wing
An idea
resides
to crystallize
and bring
image
thought
together
as one
weed covers the pond-
a crested grebe
dives for treasure
a puffed up firecrest
alights upon
our smoke tree
a dawn delicacy-
the mistlethrush's
everyday grub
out of the nest-
the fledgling hopes
mother finds a worm
Summer sky melting as a butterfly alights d r i p p i n g with beauty

sunrise warms my face
the morning's first visitor
alights on a cheek
streaked with calamine warpaint
my day begins with murder

Ample is the rising sun
That alights the furthest mountain –
A carmine drape upon every hill –
Exciting the birds to warble.
Ample, too, is the evening sun
That paints a nebulous curtain –
Quickly changing the palette until
Bringing the good day to shutter.
