Raak jy aan my
Die more son is ‘n kus op my wang
So sag soos ‘n veer, raak jy aan my
met die son en maak my verlang,
Die straal in die maan lig, streel my oë
So sag en teer, raak jy aan my
dat ek jou sien met ander oë.
Die wind waai en my omhels
So hou jy my vas, raak jy aan my
Ek voel jou soos ‘n pels,
Die blomme ruik soos jy
Met die reuk van roos, raak jy aan my
Die blomblaare sag, voel soos jy,
Die reën en hael, storm wat woed
Wat oor my spoel, raak jy aan my
Ek voel jou hier binne my bloed.
Touch me
The morning sun is a kiss on my cheek
As soft as a feather, you touch me
with the sun and stir my longing,
The ray in the moonlight strokes my eyes
So gentle and tender, you touch me
so I may see you with different eyes.
The wind blows and embraces me
So you hold me close, you touch me
I feel you like a fur,
The flowers smell like you
With the scent of rose, you touch me
The flower petals soft, feel like you,
The rain and hail, storm that rages
That washes over me, you touch me
I feel you here within my blood.
A couple of 'roos
A joey standing forlorn by it's unmoving mother
A few wallabies
A brick of a wombat
An Echidna
A heap of budgies
A raven
Some pretty green grass parrots
Cockies and galahs
A baby magpie
A snake
Some frogs
Someone's cat
A stray dog
All broken
Squashed flat
Mangled
Bloated
Instant death or slow painful bleeding out
In agony
All those battered bodies
The sadness of it all
The need for speed
Creating this meaningless road toll
And no-one seems to care
An evil kangaroo poacher from Perth
Rousted rare 'roos for all they were worth.
But, one day as he wrangled,
In his noose he got tangled,
Now of kangaroo poachers from Perth there's a dearth.
Crikey mates, I don't know what to make?
I'm pretty sure this platty; has a tummy ache
Puddin begged his friends for relief and aid;
Perhaps it was the worm stew; or shrimp cocktail he had made?
No matter what it was; in his belly, the price was being paid
Koala, and Roo good friends that they are, came to render assistance
But first; they sequestered the iPad from Roos, Joey, with much resistance
"It says here you're a mammal." Koala read from the screen
We should find the answers in no time; to why your tum tum, is being so mean
Roo asked him directly; "What have you eaten this fine day?"
To which the platty replied; with a shrug, "Whatever gets in my way"
When at that very moment, Koala's jaw began to drop!
Which took longer; then a three toe sloth, to reach full stop
Puddin, "You can't have something that you don't possess"
Your insides are without a stomach; a one-way food poo, express!
On an outback plain where big Roos were few
A gang went riding their Harley’s
Their plan was to stop at the pub for a brew
So they headed at top speed for Charley’s
It wasn’t too long as they sped along
that a Big Red hopped out of nowhere
that was the moment that things went wrong
and started this sorry affair
After the first Harley hit the Roo
they ended up in a spinning heap - until
someone had a silly notion of what to do
I’m certain they meant no ill will.
They decided - for a novel photo op
They would dress the dead roo in leather.
They propped him up beside a large rock
In a biker’s jacket and helmet
Laughing and joking and dressing and poking
They stood beside him to pose.
When all of a sudden and I am not joking
The dead carcass took off with the clothes.
The tragedy was the jacket was new
and the bloody thing was expensive
But it gets a great laugh when he’s having a brew
Still, it took a long time to make sense of.
There’s a place in my heart
Where the sun plays its part
And the kookaburras sings
To greet a sunrise that brings
Another beautiful day by
The great southern sky
So when the day is finally done
And the darkness has won
The pastels herald the chandelier above
Heralding the Southern Cross that we love
And from the cool of the evening air
The koalas emus and roos emerge there.

Can-do Roo is a kangaroo;
A kangaroo that's blue!
A blue kangaroo called Can-do Roo
That surely can't be true?
There are lots of things that Roos can do;
Let's see what Can-do Roo can do:
Hop and jump can Can-do Roo.
Let's see if you can too?
Spin round fast can Can-do Roo.
Let's see if you can too?
Laugh out loud can Can-do Roo.
Let's see if you can too?
Count to ten can Can-do Roo.
Let's see if you can too?
Sing a song can Can-do Roo.
Let's see if you can too?
You CAN do what Can-do Roo can do;
And you're not even blue!

Life will always be full of mysteries
If you are an inquisitive person
Forever searching for information
Everything referring to life and death
Science, history and biology
Murder, mayhem, magic, music and myth
You, me, them, those and other mysteries
Sun, moon, stars, satellites, sputniks and space
Typhoons, tornados, thunder and lightning
Everything in nature a mystery
Reptiles, roos, dinosaurs, fish, insects
Indigenous *****sapiens all
Evolution, religion and culture

TOOTHLESS in 1927
Toothles her tail began to switch,
Tuppy said “you’re too old, just stay a bit,”
Tuppy rode away to where,
A knocking stick a Roo would snare,
Roo hides pegged upon the ground,
Pounds shillings and pence, to be found,
From whence.
She galloped down the boundary fence ,
Clubbed a Roo right out of sense,
Got down then to skin this Roo,
Who sprang right up and bit her too,
He grabbed her close and then,
Jerked up a foot to disembowel, when,
Toothless cleared the fence,
Toothless took the Roo by the throat,
Strangulation the intent, I quote,
Death did then commence.
Kangaroo would seem very nice,
Docile friendly, but watch twice,
If his female is in season,
You could be clawed, bitten and slashed,
And Skippy might.
Don’t let your dog in water with,
Old Skip will drown him till his stiff,
But Roo’s out there in millions are,
Springing bounding fences ha ha,
And following the grass Tom Tit…
Toothless was an old greyhound female used for catching Roos on the bound….Don Johnson
