O' there's so much resilience in residence;
People so inside...
vessels, lessons, treasure, houses,
dwellings beaches, farms apartments in caves
Living in dwellings homeless shelters grounds yards sidewalks condemned house trains and boats
Scampi shanty shacks
O' there's so much resilience in residence,
People inside

"Hello said the Ghost"
I knew it was a Ghost
the semi see-through
sort of a-dead-giveaway
not frightened though
getting on in years~
my own skin quite
thinner, like an aged mongrel
needing a good dinner --
(in a haunting way
getting back to the spirit of things)
becoming transparent to my core --
but it was getting a bit
late, and my feeling a tad
more tired than usual, I suggested he
show himself to the door
He simply said, "What for?
What for? Soon to be room-mates
evermore."

Echoes through the hallway
Of this dilapidated ruin
A stone house made with devoted hands
Ladened once with the life and love of humans
Soft whispers can be heard
An occasional silhouette hazily drifts by
The humans that once lived here
Continue to reside ….

I am the resident cartoonist
in this residence
My husband is the only other resident
Except for the dogs
and the missing cat
I am the resident poet too
Although my husband wrote poetry first
He has written two or three really good poems
But he likes my poems better
He is a wise man.

HEAVEN'S RESIDENT
I am lost yet found
I dress in my best suit lying down
I need to be viewed this last time
I am related to life yet I have no breath
I vacation here on earth
My job is life eternal
I desire to be alive living with God and Jesus in Heaven

I met the rudest librarian.
"I'd like a library card, "I said to him.
"You have to prove, "he said annoyed, "that you're a New York City resident."
I said, "No problem,"
then I stabbed him.

Resident Refugees…
Uprooted, abandoned and displaced;
scattered about in their own homeland—
Irrespective of gender, cultural or race,
the pursuit of happiness seems banned.
These are the ever-present invisible souls
whose living shadows flicker everywhere:
street corners, sidewalks, flag poles;
ignored as if they are not even there.
Not honored to be a vagabond or hobo;
nor a migrant in pursuit of the dream.
Each day of survival is a revolving skid row;
in the land of opportunity, life can be so mean.
As the sun shines from sea to sea in the land of the free,
homelessness is like being an un-caged nomadic refugee.

Resident Expert
Through many of my poems would wade
To see which one had properly portrayed
Central character we wanted to accent
Have others understand what we meant.
At times our feelings end up being hurt
Not considered to be resident expert
Many abilities we often seem to lack
Yet still gave people shirt off of our back.
Looking down road of life things may miss
Words being like love followed by kindness
When a successful life we will want to live
All of our gratitude to God be sure to give.

The papers show us
that
people
are demonstrating
about the death of
a black man
who was set upon by police
The cop got off
without any condemnation or
jail time
Was it a case of murder?
Some think so
The tension between the people
is palpable
in some communities
When will hatred and
bigotry implode
so they can be blown away
like leaves in the autumn breeze?
Questions regarding the incident
will remain in the air
for a long, long, time

Jack’s the name of our friend
With him, a joke has no end
He writes about “****”
Gives poor folks a fit
Drives Soupers over the bend!
His wisdom’s coupled with fun
Guffaws you’ll get on the run
Nutso’s and derriers
Hogs and teddy bears
But where’s Attila the HUN!?
You’ve asked that things be kept light
What of us lost in the night?
We all need to vent
Emotions to spend
Or we're in a sorry plight!
But we need poets like you
To show us funny things too
So don’t you dare stop
This kangaroo hop
Of funny writes, oh so new!

I love to laugh no question bout that
Clowning and being absurd
D'ya hear the one bout a girl and a sailor
Limericks got lotsa bad words
How is laughter defined in the dictionary
Beside it, there's a picture of Jack
With a cute definition that reads like this
Very nice but a bit outta whack
Sure don't appreciate that nasty last line
May not be an Einstein or a Gates
But still have other redeeming factors
Hot dogs? I can eat twenty-eight
In our local community I'm surely loved
They think there's nobody sweeter
Ride a motorized cart round the stores
Once maimed a Walmart greeter
Bottom line is to this crazy nonsense
No doubt I'm a fun loving jester
But I can get quite belligerent at times
And give you a very rude gesture

Permanent resident
I think of ways
To tell her how I feel
It’s been some days
Still got nothing real
Can’t find the words
It’s all in my heart
Try to say it loud
But my lips don’t part
How do I tell her?
How I love her so
What do I say it to her?
So she would know
She lives in my heart
A permanent resident
And she in my world
She is a president
She is the wind
The blows thru my hair
She is the air I breathe
That has me standing here
Oh Sorry I got
So carried away
Let’s get back to
The subject of today
That is how do I say?
How much I love you
Keep trying to find the words
But so hard to do
She’s like the sun
Shines where ever she are
She’s like the stars
That light on me from so far
She’s like the rain
That cools me when it’s hot
She’s like a knickerbockers glory
The hits the right spot
She lives in my heart
A permanent resident
She gives me hope
With her distinctive accent
Oh Sorry I forget again
And got carried away
Let’s get back to
The subject of today
How do I say I love her?

cute & cuddly at the
workplace, s/he’s the
one that everybody loves---
it be fair to say that s/he was smart
but more so to say that
s/he’s the person that everyone secretly wants to
get in the pants of---
so they laugh at his/her jokes &
they wonder if they’ll be next on the list
to get to spend time outside of work
with said self-proclaimed
supermodel of sorts,
for in the smaller towns, the
ugliest ducking who wouldn’t make it in the
masquerade of the city
seems relatively gorgeous, handsome &
downright charming---
single & savvy, with all references to the
hippest cultural figures & moments
spouting from the tap,
fast-talking & always with ulterior initiatives
just under the layer of skin
that everybody wants to lick,
resident wit has one thing in mind---
step on every back you can
on the way to the top &
be loved by those you step on
as they worship your fashion sense,
making favorable statements regarding the choice of
boots that you wore
the day you crushed them.
