Death of a City Resident

The papers show us
that
people
are demonstrating
   about the death of
a black man
who was set upon by police
   The cop got off
without any condemnation or
    jail time
Was it a case of murder?
    Some think so
The tension between the people
   is palpable
in some communities
   When will hatred and
bigotry implode
so they can be blown away
like leaves in the autumn breeze?
Questions regarding the incident
  will remain in the air
for a long, long, time

We are too prone in reverting to base motivation Matthew, when will these old fashioned ways be left in the past?

Indeed they will remain in the air, for many years to come. Good poem that gives us something to think about.

You have the air of a journalist, matt. We can't guess your own opinion here. that is a good thing though with something as controversial as this was!!

Sometimes I feel as if I'm living in the past; things change, but do they improve? Such events makes one wonder. Very well put.

When will the fear and hatred end? - not soon enough. Love, daver
