Wet Socks

And I’ll lie on concrete floors
Gathering strength
To climb onto silk sheets
Thinking about dropped beats
Fight off the sleep deprivation
To circle the block, check the house and the yard
And I think of your handwriting and the lines on your face and trace your back like a map to the place
Where it’s warm and it’s dry and it’s safe
Tucked away
Every day
And maybe there’s more than we’re given
But when I just sit criss cross and listen
I’m Mary, daughter, John on a mission
Knowing what I’m meant to
Feeling like He felt too

I ran into you last week
It felt like wearing wet socks
I would’ve asked to come home
Just to dry off
I want your carpet between my toes
And the door on lock
I’d thaw by your fireplace
You would make tea
We don’t have to talk
We could just blink
I’d leave before sundown, it wouldn’t get bleak
We don’t have to talk
We don’t have to speak

bumped into a stranger once who asked ~ if I suffer from depression

I shrugged no ~ she scowled at me saying I left a shallow impression

all turned out okay ~ we were both just hitting on passive aggression

You call me by my name, too intentional
I gather all the courage to think more rational
You always held me when I’m available
But truly who am I, for you negotiable?

Your time is priceless, I cannot bargain
Mine is typical, but I can always sustain
I never asked for more than everything
Just be part of yourself, I can do anything

I hugged you at the worst of your moment
You hold me, when nothing seems permanent
You showed me that I am not a rebound
But you cannot show it when people are around

Stay with me be part of my world
With you I can be brave, I can break the stronghold
Let me know what you really want to keep
Our friendship, relationship, or just situationship?

I met my second love near the day I left my first love.
I spent a year longer than with the one I felt was from above.
Now close to the day I met him, I have returned to my first love.

Rebound

Before even one tear could dry
She caught a young man on the fly
Her fingers got wet
But that's what you get
Whenever you squeeze an hard guy!

flowers say hello
                a coming snowstorm says no

Karmic rebound but a mirror
To know God in-dwells all
That we may feel love within stir
Manifest as bliss squall

Ceasing to weigh and size
Oh hermit, here now rise
God’s pure love, realise

Desires unsound

Life Doesn'T Begin At Birth: Try, Fail, Rebound

Life Doesn't Begin At Birth (Try, Fail, Rebound)

When you're down depressed in a heap
and you see their want is all they seek
when you feel you've died but heart beats
numb are your nerves

your worst fears have fallen into place
when you've lost it all as it's gone to waste
and love fell short never there to trace
couldn't be worse

lights are dying, bulbs blown
and so all the life you have known
you must try to fix you

from high up above to crashed below
when you don't believe but yet you know
so deny your thoughts a chance to flow
blocking your hurt

sight allows you to let go
and will lighten up your load
you must try to fix you

tears stream, the mind flows,
here dream, decline lows,
fear, grieve and find space
Arise from your heartache

strength put with time grows
pain over time goes
ambition sparks, let pride race
life begins with a starting place

The Soliloquy

This show isn't worth
the cost of admission
but you have to attend
as the sole exhibition

You’re the audience,
lead role, and critic
bored by the drama
engaged as a cynic

Directed by the subconscious
your character is formed
and you watch in horror
as you helplessly perform

The theatrics are not lacking
the drama is realistic
the storyline is tragic
and the plot is narcissistic

Amused by your pathetic role
but finding the humor cruel
you call an intermission
and refuse to play the fool

Concealed behind a curtain
you change costumes from your rack
demanding the director take a seat
as you lead your own comeback

Resuming the production
having changed all the narration
you curtsy when you end the show
and accept standing ovation

Thankful that it's over
you run towards the exit door
determined to escape the stage
and any chance of an encore

Premium Member Spring's Rebound

Something's not right thought Horace Hound
As he sprang from his bed with a harried bound
To rush outside while he grumbled and frowned.
Singing birds made a sweet soft sound
And tiny sprouts had appeared all round.
Branches of trees that had lately stayed browned
With green leaves and buds were now regally crowned.
Musky earth smells that were quite profound
Arose from the dark damp garden's ground.
When under the oak tree he noticed a mound
His uneasy thoughts did a quick turn around.
Spring had come with its warm rebound,
And under the dirt was a bone to be found.

Rebound From

find it difficult to
rebound from this lose
not able to bounce
back from this estrangement
no action has help
in the effort to emotionally
recover from the past
old emotive reactions are still present
whenever thoughts escape
from the subconscious into
the conscious

Rebound Girl

I was your rebound girl, you just used me to get over her
My feelings never mattered; I was just there for your pleasure.
Now you are over her I am out the door.
My love never mattered?

I fell in love with your family, your mom and dad… were they in on the plan?
I just didn't matter, I was just there for your pleasure
I can't believe no one cared about my heart. I didn't matter?
I was just there for your comfort so now that you don't hurt , I am toss to the ground

I am broken and wrecked now that you are on to your new lover, the love of your life. You got your pleasure and I never mattered. I was your rebound girl

He took a walk to clear his mind
Then asked her when they could be wed.
Words from her were so unkind,
He took a walk to clear his mind.
Leaving all thoughts of her behind
He found a brand new love instead.
He took a walk to clear his mind
Then asked her when they could be wed.
