Ambrosia
Ambrosia floral scents emitted from plants
Reveal intentions with a presentation
Of heady fragrances arousing the senses:
Ragweed genus, beautiful and romantic.
Pleasurable moments of imagination
Express countenance in their acceptance
By extending forgiveness for irritation,
Colourful blooms with allergenic pollen.
Weigh in the sea with balmy, breeze made waves,
Silhouetted by mountains in the distance,
Freshens the face with appreciative thoughts
Of love received and returned quickly.

Spring is reknowned for its return of things,
allergies from tree pollen and ragweed,
warmer weather, fields of heather that brings
sneezing and sniffling noses, so take heed.
River ice thaws, causing lowlands to flood,
wreaking havoc, worry, and does great harm.
Properties are covered by silt and mud.
Lives are lost. Neighborhoods raise the alarm.
April rains are something I've come to dread.
Although Spring showers nurture every rose,
they create breeding grounds for mosquitoes~
Blood sucking pests buzzing around my head.
Most people look forward to Spring each year
but some don't rejoice in it with good cheer.

The month of August in the deep south
Signals the first of many ragweed blooms
The lush greens toast to brown
The creeks finally run clear
And about one inch deep
Days are spent hiding from the sun
Energy seems to be burned away
Loki’s torch up to its old tricks
Excitement wants to build
A rain could change the seasons
But the dust-choked back roads
Have no relief yet

to the tune of Jefferson Airplane’s White Rabbit
One pill for attention,
One for cholesterol,
And the one that makes you smarter:
Most expensive of them all.
Go Cialis
When you can’t get tall.
And if you are plagued by ragweed,
And allergies in the fall,
But your resources are limited,
And your outlook is rather small,
Don’t do anything until you call her,
Till she has you in her thrall.
Feed your head
Feed your head

A field full of lovely black-eyed susans
A patch of ground I must view from afar,
For my allergies flare at the intrusions
My sinuses start burning like fire.
My eyes erupt in uncontrollable tears,
The nasal passages completely plug up,
I feel like my head is about to explode
I’ll have a miserable allergic flare-up.
Ragweed causes a similar reaction
Whenever I am near it, sight unseen,
So, I have learned to avoid these plants
Allergy sufferers will know what I mean!

I saw several Johnny-Jump-Ups today
In the meadow they have come to play
Shouting to me as I pass them by,
The pollen is heavy, I’m starting to cry
This spring ailment cuts short my walk
When I get home, I can barely talk,
It seems to be worse than in the fall
When the ragweed comes to call
But this year spring is heard enough
When one can’t breathe, it’s really tough,
I can’t hardly wait for a pleasant summer
When taking my walk won’t be a bummer.

WHEN awakened by a sudden thing as Life
what to do?
i took my mouth in hand and walked down
the mountain to a river. My curious tale
behind me it was the bleat of a sound within
my throat that ragweed spoke.
Never a mystery as the ones i've met
have potted the balconied trees upon the
rows of my thoughts.
There! A sparrow that has fallen from
my dreams into the progress of strawberry-
wax lullabies i had once forgotten.

We did the right thing
Tried to stay well
We stayed at home
At times it felt like a cell
Then a vaccine appeared
We felt set free
The devil worked his magic
And he danced with glee
As he changed the virus
Into another killer
We had felt safe
Now our home has a visitor
COVID 19 Delta Strain
Has entered our home
Husband is sick
Now he won't roam
He sleeps the sleep of flu
Or a severe infection
The doctor loaded him down
With some protection
Cortisone, allergy pills
Cough syrup and more
Antiviral med given to animals
He bought out the store
I hope it is short lived
Because he doesn't do well
When he is quite ill
I might need another place to dwell
My husband was sick yesterday and went to the doctor this morning. He has the virus. Don't have any idea where he got it. I have to go this afternoon for a test but I don't think I have it but I could be harboring the virus which will strike later in a day or two. He has allergies so I thought it was the fact that ragweed has begun to bloom but so wrong a diagnosis. Sara

Sumer is icumen in
a modern English translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch
This is an update of an old classic for those of us who suffer with hay fever and other allergies ...
Sumer is icumen in
Lhude sing achu!
Groweth sed
And bloweth hed
And buyeth med?
Cuccu!

a narrative with alliteration
Royal radio reviews the Rainbow Raffle Rally planned to raise rubles
for the rugged racetrack recently recommended ‘round Rybinsk Reservoir.
One rich ruler, who runs the Ragweed Railway resists with red-ribbon resolve.
His rogue reaction to a ring of rubber stamp rednecks
left realistic Regnum reporters in a rush to rock their readers
regarding the rift between the Ragweed Roadblock and the Rainbow Raffle.
Rather like a rabbit racing a rhino, such rivalry is not reasonable.
Rally is off the radar - racetrack has been royally rejected!

Ambrosia. Food of the gods.
Yummy huh? I can taste the salad with pineapple and coconut.
Ambrosial…. delicious, sweet smelling.
Makes me think of dark chocolate, and still wonderful.
Ambrosian chant….singing introduced by St. Ambrose, about 384.
But then there is
Ambrasiaceous

Sneezing
Flaring up of asthma
Hay fever
Running nose
Itchy eyes
Misery and despair
Something needs to be issued a different name, right?
It just does not fit in with the others.
One of them is not the same.
Think Sesame Street, I always do.

Water flowing quickly over the river bed
moss hangs tight to adjacent rocks
dragonflies flickering upon the ragweed
leaves hanging low from the night’s storm.
owls searching for food in the dismal light
the forest provides shelter from the elements
nature presides and governs over all
Nature torments and tangles its abode
flooding its banks, taking up stakes
resettling transformation occurs in distant time
unlike genesis, nature recreates its global theater
which the environment becomes adapted
and mankind has reason for acclimation

I developed full blown flare up can’t breathe asthma at age 40, a fact.
Got tested and was told my triggers are Ragweed, pollen, oleander plants, perfume, latex and cat.
I had lived in a forest for nine years with all kinds of trees,
But no Cottonwood trees ever hit this forest’s breeze,
Proof I am an alien.
The norm in earth world of asthmatic is to be unable to breathe around a Cottonwood tree and be okay around oak or spruce or knotty pine.
Not the other way around, and my hearing, why is it tuned so ultra-fine?
You can whisper something so tiny no human can make it out except me.
I can get so worked up by 9 a sound in Japan makes me drop my morning tea.
Proof I am an alien.
I have a reversal reaction to medicinal powders and drugs.
What puts others instantly to snore-vile keeps me wide awake for three days.
Namely valium, sleeping pills, and other super relaxing drugs.
Sh, don’t tell the neighbors. But I suspect two of them already kind of know.
They have seen my yard piled high with six foot drifts of glistening snow.
in July.
proof I am an alien.

There once was a young man from Calgary
Who suffered great from ragweed allergy
Eyes would itch
Nose would twitch
Sneezes could be heard clear to Germany
