A real cup of coffee feels nice on the tongue
it has a pleasant mouthfeel and it is warm
Some think dung coffee lists high on the rung
while others believe it contains fungi-form
A teenage diary with a fountain pen nib
quiet often it holds emotions real true
Melodramatic entries sometimes its a fib
oh it comes easy when your feeling blue !
A serious person has two brows knitted
thinking about things between the ears
A stand up comedian often quick witted
peak-brows it as he jokes & draws near.

Early in a damp woodsman's camp
seeing sawyers from a logging town
to stop the conversation bogging down
as asked my age among other things
I replied, 'Cut off my head and count the rings,'
then had to be quick-witted and fast-footed
made a bee-line through the trees
so as not to lose my noggin
when a burly lumberjack grabbed his axe
I ducked and dodged his mighty swing
which (in a nonce) saved my bacon (and my bonce)
and them's the actual facts

Bea was quick-witted, clever and sanguine.
Loving adventure, her escapades fine….
With energy enough for at least twenty.
Did she have admirers? Oh, yes! Plenty!

Esmerelda was brainy, bright, mentally keen
In the quick-witted department almost obscene
She’s sagacious, perspicacious, totally shrewd
To point it out, would be a teensy bit rude
We let her get away with things others would not try
Her brilliance intimidated more than one guy
She’ll stay single forever said her brother Ray
She fell in love and eloped with a lover the very next day

There is a quick-witted woman I know with three names; her silhouette is a mystery; she's had multiple fragile frames.
Many have tried and failed to tame her rather long mane, but honestly, they were lame flames.
Her treks motivate her for life’s endless, gruelling games.
Called a traveller but never exploring for fame, she isn't one of those Instagram dames.
Nobody can catch her riddle
runner strides, she won't win any elections; her temper never slides.
But that humour will take you on some rollercoaster rides.
A compass nucleus of fears revives stifled tides.
Some have labelled her a peaceful poet and writer.
This makes her laugh; she's always been an ample fighter.
In her day job, she wrestles with a highlighter.
Glued to a screen, she implores the sky to make her mind lighter.
When she was knee-high, she dreamed of being a screenwriter.
A secret rapper, perhaps she will win a Grammy as a songwriter.
Only time will tell where she will land with a whisky and pen in her hands on another all-nighter.

Quick-witted, untamed, and carefree.
Earth, air, fire, and water—nothing scares me.
Every species is waltzing in an epic symphony.
A maze within a five-pointed star is a mystery.
We launch into the sky in a zigzag path.
Our limbs plead as if they had no lath.
With the aim of rejoining the cosmic dance.
To witness the vitality of our core stance.
The earth underneath us starts to swirl.
We're jamming while we whirl and twirl.
With each stride, we settle into a rhythm.
As we're pulled along by the cosmic prism.
Fire breaks down throughout our souls.
As we journey through the cosmic whole.
Life is a dance with an unending objective.
As our tasks in space start to blur, fictive
There is water everywhere around us now.
As we bear our peace with the cosmic vow.
At this time, we would wish to draw a bow.
Since our being is one with cosmic endows.

Miss Marple is a famous sleuth
She investigates and gets the truth
Murder intriguing has been committed
Just as well she's quite quick-witted.
Whom does this crime benefit most?
We can rule out our charming host
Victim was found dead in his room
Around his body flowers strewn.
Completely by accident Marple saw
Delivery of flowers at kitchen door
Where busy maid spends her day
All mundane tasks are sent her way.
She might be poor, but that blackguard
Sent flowers with invite scrawled on card!
Never expecting she would not comply
The fillet knife aided his dying sigh.
Flowers she threw in such distress
Then walked away from mortal mess
Bravely she sought Marple's advice
Who said 'she was skating on rather thin ice'.
Enigma surrounds this long closed case
The victim, no gentleman was a disgrace
Home in her cottage, thinking things through
Marple wondered what Poirot would do?

An old man looks deeply into my soul
His piercing blue eyes disquietingly seek
What is written there on my life scroll,
An accomplished man of purpose, meek.
A fine pastel she has lovingly sketched
Another time, another place he and I,
Likely over a beer, would’ve kvetched
On many topics, oft seeing eye to eye.
I would’ve respected his keen insight
He has the look of one who is worthy,
Man of his word, his lips pressed tight
Hard-working he is, so clearly earthy.
I think he might have been a seafarer
Comfortably draped in a gray slicker,
I suspect that he speaks with a burr
Bright, quick-witted, not one to bicker.

RuPaul is one of the happiest people I know
Spreading joy and sunshine wherever she goes,
Quick-witted and sharp as a tack they say
She’s worth a few million dollars in residual pay,
[always dresses to the nines, be it female or male]
With hair and makeup to be envied by most
RuPaul has every reason, I think, to boast,
For her Drag Race alone she is known far and wide
I know, I know, there are some who will chide,
But RuPaul is an entertainer to be admired
By every person whose success she inspired,
And regular folks, too, can sound her praises
For every unique individual she gladly embraces.

hushed ether of morning
huddled guardian warriors, arms aligned
early call to prayer sounds the blood to chill
arrives the entry check point white linen under issued desert garb
a steely eyed airman quick witted and quicker with sidearm
all hell breaks loose and all age 30 years in one hot minute

Slaaag was a foul mouthed quick witted handy female. A cat fight was one of her specialities as was name calling and back stabbing. **** licking was another skill. What these things never achieved plain old seduction did.

It was a Sunday morning in June, how well I recall
I stood in the pulpit with my morning sermon in print
When all of a sudden I began to extemporize
A moment never to be forgotten--never at all!
I was telling about an event that had angered me
When I accidentally let a shameful curse word slip
The congregation of worshippers fell deathly silent
I wanted to grab my sermon notes and hurriedly flee.
The silence continued for several minutes, I thought,
While I stammered and stuttered and tried to apologize
But it was too late, whatever the damage, it was done
While some composure, a recovery I quickly sought.
Then, suddenly the quick-witted organist played a riff
And I heard a raucous laughter rising up from the pews
I realized the silence had been broken just in time
For my people to know that their young pastor was no stiff!
