Premium Member It's Not Whether You Win or Lose - O, Dang, Yes It Is

         Pony-up, you owe the money
           Your protests, not even funny

When you win, we pay up fast
           The about-face ~ What a contrast

Premium Member How Do I Loathe Thee, Cheater

How do I loathe thee? Let me count the ways.
I loathe thee so that I throw up on sight
Of thee, and when my ire is at a height,
I grit my teeth and plot revenge for days.

My loathing for thee, cheater, takes its toll.
Thy empty claims of innocence, I scorn.
I caught thee thrice! My trust was from me torn.
To see thee broke and hungry is my goal.

I loathe thee with the passion I once spent
On sweet romance when I thought thee sublime.
I’d like to see thee living in a tent.
Indulge me as I tell thee one more time
I'd gladly pony up my last red cent
To have thee maimed if mugging weren’t a crime!

Premium Member Magical Pills

It could raise all this.
Or it may inflame that.
As Your vision spins
both ears start to flap.

So, hold on a minute.
No need to act fast.
Knowing those are risks.
Don't burn out and crash.

These Magical pills
smell like bad fishy trash.
Just take another hit
but pony up the cash.

Say, it gives You the chills.
With a gray itchy rash.
May erase this.
And deflate that.

These Two Things

Only two things are certain in life,
death and taxes
You can cheat one,
but you can't cheat the other
Ooh, what would a person give to live
They would give everything ... and more,
if it was possible
I bet some wish
that the Grim reaper was the tax man
Then they could seek shelter from death
with a graduated tax-rate insurance plan
Strike a bargain for longevity,
then pass through the inheritance tax loopholes
Grease the Reaper's palms a little bit,
it would put a lot of cold water on those hot coals
When death is biting you in the butt,
guess what ...
you're gonna pay the tax man
his fair cut
So pony up
There's only two things
you need worry 'bout friend-o:
Death and taxes
Those two things are certain, for sure
The only two questions are:
which one gets paid first,
and where are you gonna go?
Will it be a tax-free trip to heaven on resurrection day,
or the tax trapdoor down to hell below
And that door
is sealed tight with no hedge fund window

Pony Up

Pony up..
Show you're tough
Prove to me
You've got enough..

Pony Up..

Rev it up
Fast enough
Life's a challenge
Show you're tough..

Pony Up..

A minute strong
Paves the way
Stay on cue
Don 't delay..

The start
Of a new day..

Pony Up.

[Entry in Poetry Contest sponsored by Carolyn Devonshire 2-2-11]

Got a letter in the mail today
Right from the good old U S of A
I opened it quick
With my pogo stick
While wondering what it would say.

A citizen too often relaxes,
So much he forgets to pay taxes.
So pony up today,
Don’t blow this away,
Or we will hound you with dunning faxes.

With IRS and their undue threat,
They have placed their bet on a roulette.
I’ll acquiesce
When they confess
Otherwise they can sit there and fret!

Premium Member Just Horsing Around With Limericks

(sorry, Tirzah, I could not do a nice long poem on horses.
I just felt like doing some silly limericks playing off expressions
for horses. Thanks for the inspiration!)

I Hate that Horse

There’s a horse that I so hate to see,
And at night sometimes he visits me.
His attack to my thigh
Makes me think I might die.
That Charly Horse acts horribly!

Horses Have Ears, Ya Know

“I could eat a horse!” hungry bob said
To his friends as he rode his horse, Ned.
Taking it the wrong way,
Ned reared up with a “neigh!”
Bob fell off and got kicked in the head.

Pony Up

“Pony up,” said the seamstress in town
With the new bride’s hand-sewn beaded gown.
But having no dough,
The bride cast her eyes low,
Saying, “Sorry, but my pony is down.”

In Our One Horse Town

We love ostriches. Haven’t you heard?
Yes, it’s true, and I give you my word
Just one old mare lives here.
Had no foals; she is *****.
So each cowboy just rides a bird!

Lazyocracy

society is easy
where's the world gone today?
nobody cares either way
society is easy
pony up a check or two
pay the government its dues
taxes are stealing?
taxes are what's keeping you free

society is brutal
in its non-brutality
someone dies and all's forgotten
how millions were murdered decades away
society is easy
but everyone's still got some reason to complain
