Your protests, not even funny
When you win, we pay up fast

Generally, they are a fearless bunch.
That doesn't mean that they are foolish.
Obviously, every species has a healthy fear,
for fear itself is a great survival mechanism.
This species I'm speaking of is alert and always
seems prepared to fight or take flight. He's not the
happy-go-lucky type. You have to earn his friendship
and give him due respect, never taking him for granted.
He knows what is rightfully his and doesn't mind demanding
the seat that you have occupied. He seems given to relaxation
and sleeps a lot, but that doesn't mean that he is lazy. For several
days I have with pleasure observed two of them on my property.
They walk together, sleep together, and keep each other clean. They
will work and earn their way. They are observant and know who to trust.
This species is not quick-tempered, but you do not want to push him around.
I have found cats to be very giving, but expect you to pay up when it is due.

Jack Ma once what a force, now all spent,
Pony Ma of Tencent on ascent.
In china, asked to bend,
They fall flat than defend,
Demanded when, pay up red-star rent,
In public never rant
Ever be obedient,
Know, Red Stars never care for their cants!

Poet’s note: A limerick a bit extended. Behind the great firewall of China there seems to exist a parallel universe: Baidu, not Google; Weibo in place of Tweeter; Alibaba instead of Amazon or eBay…. WeChat of Tencent is an ‘everything’ app there. If Jack Ma of Alibaba is a spent force, Pony Ma of Tencent is a rising star getting to be a red giant, red in more sense than one.

Farmer Bill was bragging about his purple cow all the time.
If he has a purple cow, a naysayer said, I will pay a dollar and a dime.
Better pay up then, I told him, and the cow’s horns are a weird lime.
He also wears bells on his head, and they whistle, and they chime.

The night is not young. Soon bars will close down.
You'll pay up your tab or pay for a round.
Did you get any numbers to put in your phone?
Are you leaving with someone or leaving alone?
I hope you have mingled the time you were here,
or did you just sit crying into your beer?
You have no excuses. You're not the only
person with hardships or thinking you're lonely.
Before they begin making last calls tonight,
don't be a buzz kill. Go do something right.
See folks all around you in this crowded bar.
You think there is no one as sad as you are?
Get up off that bar stool for a night you'll not rue.
Last call for lonely hearts. What will you do?

Pay the Piper,
he has come to collect.
Empty your pockets,
eliminate your debt.
The joyride is over,
it came with a price.
The Piper knows the amount,
he is extremely precise.
Revenge has many forms,
it has finally come to interrupt.
Today it takes the shape of the Piper,
time to pay up.

I am below a zero, a zero
I am a dash, a quiet hero
Mellowness and meekness is what I seek and I am proud
Humility, love, desire, benevolence, bravery and confidence is what I beseech
I am but a dash in your eyes...silence within speaks loud
I will be practicing my solitude speech while you practice what you preach!
I am not a crazy colon
I am a soul, oh so alone
I can't stand hearing your apostrophes scream at me constantly...
You're speaking loud, but I'm ignoring on purpose honestly...
I am the numbers and letters of your heart apparently
I am not a comma because I don't pause for you to catch up frankly
Keep up with my wondrously-made writing skills
Or you can always pay up the upcoming bills
You're flawless, regardless of annoying me
I am bewildered, yet comforted suddenly
I am but a dash, a hero of I-forgive-you
I live for your echoes of empathy so true
I am not a crazy colon:
I am not a comma,
I will say it in apostrophes: "I am a dash and that's that -"

Year close and delight- time to do my tax,
GOSH how did all my cash drop through the cracks;
I still do mine the old way,
and in the end always pay;
oh, just pay up- and till NEXT year relax !

Stand up, Man up, Straighten up,

Eat up, Fill up, Drink up,
Try not to Burp up, or Bring up,
Wash up, Clean up.
Dress up, Drive up, Walk up, Make up,
Don't be Stuck up or have a Bust up.
Join up, Turn up, Speak up, Write up,
Never be part of a Jack up.
Build up, Hoist up, Reach up, Hop up,
If you Stuff up, Fix up.
Save up, Round up, Pay up,
Never say "stick em up"
Or you may End up Sent up.
Cheer up,
Don't forget to look up.

Waiter please bring me some wine.
Then you may take your time
to bring me food that is divine.
Waiter, I'll tell you what I feel.
I would like a marvelous meal.
Can you tell me what's the deal?
Waiter from The Cat in the Hat.
Can you tell me where it's at?
Remember I don't eat fat.
Waiter bring me something lean.
Fish perhaps with loads of greens.
Home cooked, not from a machine.
Waiter I have given in.
To hell with trying to be thin.
My chances were already slim.
Waiter, I can no longer hide it
I'll have some pudding I've decided.
With lots of cream beside it.
Waiter you have served me well.
That meal was scrumptiously swell.
You're good at this, I can tell.
Waiter please bring me my bill.
I best leave as I'm hungry still.
Can I pay up at the till?

To Nobby Clarke I made a pledge
that I would never give up trying,
surrender all things (short of dying!)
to find a rhyme for "Percy Sledge".
Old Nobby thought he had the edge!
But I, pure intellect applying,
the glory of the challenge eyeing,
came at it like a flying wedge!
I didn't need to drudge or dredge.
(It wasn't hard, there's no denying -
no saturnine poetic sighing,
like Keats beside his withered sedge).
Now Nob has more than funds to hedge.
Aware of rounds he'll soon be buying,
beer into which he'll soon be crying,
he's standing on his window ledge!

RODRIGUEZ THE TINPOT DICTATOR
“Hello, my name is Rodriguez the tinpot dictator of South American country A. I came to power and made everyone a communist whether they liked it or not.
Those who disagreed disappeared. You see, I ain’t a bad man but as I’m in power I have to be firm and they’re no more.
Some call me Steel Balls as I go up against my country’s insurgents, in the pay of the Yanks, and tie down their capitalist forces in a futile war they can never win and I send the traitors’ families the bill for the bullets – pay up or die!
Everything went well till the Americans sent the Marines in and we beat them at first but now we are losing, so I’ll soon be out of a home and a job. I’ll find another country and take my cause to them, overthrow their government and be a dictator again.
Ill teach the Zionists a lesson and show them how a communist can fight.”

No body to listen, no body to hear, nobody is free,
Everyone is busy, everyone is gone, Everyone has other problems,
Well I do too, the only people who are here to hear me, I have to pay,
That's the only people who are willing to look my way.
Nobody to listen, nobody to hear me, nobody to see me, until it's too late,
It's so sad that I want some heartfelt care to heal me, but First you must be
willing to pay up some money, for they are in it for cash, well then if I say something you think is not safe, then please don't tell me I need to go get help, for that's not an option, for there's nobody to hear, see, care for me for free.
Maybe I should sail off into the sea, where I can be alone, to listen to the wind blow, hear the birds sing their songs to me, see the natures beauty, watch an eagle soar freely in the clear blue sky, for he is the most free anyone could ever be,
CAN I SOAR TO THE SKY LIKE THAT TOO?
