a hush holds its quiet determination;
a spark slips in as fascination;
a breath gathers slow observation;
a thread forms a soft combination;
a glance offers brief examination.
a single breeze slips by~
a warm hush of late day
carrying light the way
memory drifts~
quiet, unhurried.
monkeys leader fell — along
with twenty seven monkeys —
into a treacherous mire;
nothing appeared on surface
but a single wet feather!
night drifts~
blue lanterns hum,
their light a quiet wish.
I wander through the hush of stars,

two bluejays
claim the bench~
cobalt sentinels
perched
on quiet wood
they tilt
their bright crowns
toward the mist-warm sky,
listening
as leaves

their last
amber sigh
the park
feels paused,
held
in the bluebirds’
calm regard~
as if autumn
waits
for their small
approval

Rough white water dreams in a river rush,
the journey can toss you and get bumpy.
Thrown off course forced to pivot suddenly,
that is fate’s way of asking you to push.
Now that you’re up with a kick in the tush,
your path can be seen even more clearly.
Rough white water,
adrenaline causes hot cheeks to flush.
You’ve got a vision of what’s meant to be
and the desire to pursue it fiercely.
Execution brings a call to ambush
rough white water.
standing alone in the eye of the storm,
he doesn't care that he's seen
as an iconoclast.
not afraid to defy conventions.
a non-conformist to the core;
strong sense of independence,
zags when everyone zigs,
leads, never follows.
he stands alone;
marches to
different
drum
A girl watchmaker stands among clocks rimmed with frost,
their pale faces caught in winter's thin hush.
She watches silence drip from their frozen hands,
each drop a faint crack in the brittle air.
Shadows settle like cold breath around her craft,
while time thins itself beneath her steady gaze.
He keeps time
in the front of his hat,
a clock that ticks sideways
and only when it wants to.
The books beneath him
lean like secrets,
each spine a doorway
he’s already wandered through
and rearranged.
He laughs softly,
as if the world
is a riddle he solved
years ago
and misplaced the answer
on purpose.
His silk hat glows
with borrowed moonlight.
His shadow stretches
longer than logic.
And his smile~
that crooked invitation~
suggests that madness
is simply wonder
without its manners.
If there’s a message,
it’s hidden in the ticking:
time isn’t the master
of Wonderland.
It’s just another guest
at the Hatter’s table,
pouring tea
into the wrong cup
and pretending
it meant to.
Bald eagles soared to climax
winds following suit
reaching Mother Moon’s orbit
pink-blue wings swirling in space
feathers reach essences dissolving
Love innocent endures —
Breastbones transmuted at
point of no return
we sailed into Void, fluid
zéro apogee in vastness
stoic points absent to
pierce poinsettia
throbbing Hearts
bleed red —

Silver Winner Poem
Allpoetry: Sept 26
Form : Brevity
Prompt : apogee
deep blue
settles over the water~
silhouetted dragonflies
rise like small shadows.
dandelions drift upward,
carrying gold from the swamp
into the warm September air~
a quiet reminder
that even darkness
is only one way
the world learns
to release its light.
my working parts
fingering is just the start
on the march
knees and legs take part
head and heart, with soul
still two fingers
dumb, not speaking to me
a numb okay
grasping utensils with one hand
not a lefty, that’s right
