Embittered with envy and evil intent,
he knew what he was but did not care.
His god was his ego, his fight unfair,
no holds barred. He stole, he lied,
he never prayed. He thought he was great.
He had no friends, not even his wife.
His children hated him, now long dispersed
much to his wife's agony. Evil excited him.
He never shook hands or waved a greeting.
But money spells power, and many were afraid
to be on the wrong side of his good books.
So he received no love and no respect.
And when he died, no bells tolled their dirge,
no eulogy was read during his cremation;
all were glad, especially his wife
who was now rich and glad.
And on his tombstone, she had engraved:
"A closed hand cannot receive."
Yes!
What appears
appears without a knower~
No separate one
to know anything
but amazingly
it may appear that way~
Appearances are
expressions of nothing
with no holds barred~~
In modern times, it's plain to see.
We are a slave to our own technology.
It's more than a habit, it's quite an affliction.
To see such mobile phone addiction.
We scroll and swipe, but at what cost?
The art of communication is lost.
With every ding and every ping.
Our lives revolve around every ring.
Our eyes fixated on our screens.
Oblivious to everything.
A virtual world, with no holds barred.
No need to leave a calling card.
Whilst scrolling through each notification.
You need to curb this phone fixation.
As people walk down city streets.
There nose fixed firmly at their feet.
Absorbed within those tiny screens.
Distracted from almost everything.
We are using whilst we drive our cars.
To me, this is just so bizarre.
You're on TikTok, you're on hands free.
Whilst aimlessly scrolling through your feed.
A life inside this tiny bubble.
Can cause so much pain and so much trouble.
Let's pause and ponder, take a step back.
Find balance again, get back on track.
For while tech can connect us, it can also divide.
So let’s cherish real moments and open our eyes.
Tell it like it is, man
no holds barred, you know
Don't beat around the bush now
go where eagles go...
Take off your gloves, bare-knuckle it
words not minced, nor wit
Let all hell loose, come what may
shrink not from death's ballet
A Cowboy And His Thoughts On Dodge City
In the razor whip and faster gun
the flaming sun, the fertile fields
the rose-felt day
I walked alone
along the barren street
beneath bramble shields
A heart that swore to the purest truth
the eager thrills of wayward youth
With stripped heart allayed
steps taken and no holds barred
through soggy marsh
and burnt out corn
the west stands its ground
from eastern ridge and western sky
my horse knows well the way
six-guns speak,
roulette wheel creaks
the cowboys force their way
O' please, be thee still
as men attempt to force their will
and looks like no rain today
we wait for dusk and night
death be the greater fright
the dead buried at Boot Hill.
Robert J. Lindley, Aug, 10th 1972
Note- One of the greatest themes in movies is the Western and the cowboy.
Rawhide, Wyatt Earp, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and others all preached the moral theme of fair play and law and order. Think what theme movies teach today! Certainly not that, imho. RJL

I really kept no score
Yet the signal contest wore
Give us your best, give us more
Let the bore of your gun be forty four
A no holds barred Wild West contest
Gunning for the heart in our chest
Some wore a bulletproof vest
Shot in head, laid to rest
Out in the open, no refuge
Gun equalises small and huge
Some contestants used subterfuge
Single bullet more potent than a deluge
Doc Holliday legend was dying of cancer
Long barrelled 44 had all the answers
Lighting fast was flicker of trigger
Steely eyes that did not waver

I train my body, every second day
rest of the time, stretch my mind
Pumping iron, playing heavy metal
adds more weight, depth to rhyme
Hitting a punchbag, lets off steam
jabbing hard, tightly packed foam
Burning calories, fires up my brain
honed thoughts, will create a poem
Imagination stirs, no holds barred
muse unlocking, finding portal key
Tonight sky’s the limit, ready to roll
brain has other ideas, I fall asleep.

Remembering the loving days of my youth
Love was on my mind 24/7
Every pretty girl that passed me by
Was more gorgeous that the one before
Guess what? It's still true today!
Age has no bearing
I am considered very old by most standards
But I still feel like a teenager at heart
It never leaves us, this attraction
The yearning for love, sweet love
When I was a young man
The thought of my parents making love
Was a totally foreign concept to me
It must have happened
Otherwise I wouldn't be writing this
But somehow it seems inconceivable
No! Mom and Dad? No!
Strange how we *****sapiens have evolved
The no holds barred topics of today
Can totally astound me
Topics that were never talked about ever back then
Topics that would have been considered pornographic
Are now talked about freely
In everyday conservation
Don't know about you guys
But I preferred it the way it was back then
You couldn't rattle Tex
Ice water in his veins
No one ever saw him wince
let alone complain
Kept to himself, he did
Felt life was meant to be hard
Carried his lasso and holsters proud
Tackled fool rustlers, no holds barred
The range was his home, an honest calling
One where he gave his cattle free rein
'Til sundown was nigh, when he'd change his tune
Call in his options, by the light of the moon
Came a day when his ten-gallon hat
No longer was seen on the range, working at
The craft that he loved, more than life itself
Tex had roped his last steer, put his reins on the shelf
The First Debate of Twenty-twenty
By Franklin Price
09/30/2020
The first debate of twenty-twenty
Was a sad state I must say
The moderator Wallace
Kept getting in the way
The rules were soon abandoned
As they left the starting gate
Was a shame that it all happened
Nothing, of it all, was great
Most of the mess was caused by Trump
He interrupted, left and right
Was not there for debating
Had come there for a fight
The media against him
Had him losing from the start
That hasn't changed since his election
He never should have taken part
No holds barred were evident
As the minutes moved along
I'm still voting him as president,
But what he did, last night, was wrong
Four years of frustration
Was his being on the stage
Asses always out to get him
Keeps him in a constant rage
Last night it finally happened
Could no longer keep it in
More debates, for him, are foolish
Because he'll do it all again.
What you see, is what you get
When the president is Trump
If he's not re-elected
We'll be a socialistic dump
I wish there were more choices
But, of course, that's not to be.
The first Tuesday of November
We will see what we will see
Friendship should be kept,
though miles we're apart
distance it's still great;
because you are in my heart.
I'm gabby that makes you pique
I tell all with no holds barred,
I laugh, feel angry, I kick
for you pal, I won't be scared.
You just don't know why
I stick on and never leave,
even mountains that are full
of thorns, for you I'll drop by.
Whenever you are needing me,
I'm always be there anytime of the day.
I have a vision of her.
She is twirling and laughing
In a white sundress
in the middle of a clearing in the woods.
Canopy overhead; sun sprinkling down through.
She twirls and dances to her heart's content
to an audience of trees and leaves.
Her music is silence
with an occasional bird call,
and with leaves crackling under her feet.
Her style is freedom.
A no-holds-barred adventure.
Her adventure is nature.
F*** the city 'scapes.
Give her northern lights and mountain heights
that make your heart leap;
Leap like the way mine does
Watching her twirl
Amidst the green leaves
As they clap and clatter for her
In her white sundress
and her infectious smile
With her arms out wide while she spins.
She's in her nature.
And she's in mine.
resigned
without artifice
the loveliest of virtues
humility
the heart attuned
to gentleness
bared to all
surrendering
heart to heart
secrets divulged
no holds barred
laying it all out
on the table
a most endearing
vulnerable intimacy
redefined dignity
AP: Honorable Mention 2020
He was so super cool
Who on the screen bent the rules
When the sheriff was in pursuit with no holds barred
The 70’s rocked in part because of Burt Reynolds starred
And the Black Pontiac Firebird running ahead
With Sally Fields as his sidekick without dread
Jackie Gleason the sheriff chasing the sumbich in his way
To deliver a truck load of beer as he raced away
So Smokey and the Bandit is history now
But we will remember him as the epitome of cool with a dash of pow
Vale to a screen hero who passed today
A movie star who made us laugh and was cool in his own way.
