It's moderating, yee haw it's warming a bit
Finally it's getting above zero
Just a while ago thought 50 was freezing
Now it's balmy from a few days ago
In comparison temps can feel warm or cold
Depending on what we're accustomed to
50 can feel downright damn balmy or frigid
Really not much us guys can do
Go with the flow, that's what I always say
At 50 in the fall wear a coat
At 50 in spring strip down to your underpants
Coz 50 is balmy, no joke
So there you have it, that's my take on things
Humans are hard to comprehend
Hard to try to figure us modern guys out
It'll drive you around the bend

It’s been corrupted,
Even the learning systems in normality altered
The Innocence of examinations
Has swerved
Into Guilt of examinations
Exam malpractices everywhere!
Many students have sown the seed of levity
Which has grown into complacency
They, being carefree,
Are shamefully confident
They would cheat to the bull!
Assured their money could in qualms set them free.
Examiners have likewise injured the education routines of our country,
Even WAEC as a body
Of these –
In charge of its structures
They, like an engine that sucks tanks of oil,
So do they take bribes for scripts exchange
And manipulation of grades imputation.
Parents and guardians are fans of students and teachers:
Supporting their children,
And moderating tricks with teachers and examiners.
These exam malfeasances are done throughout:
From the class to external exams offices.

Miles racing underneath lively conversation
Whistling road noises and occasional bumps,
Time passing slowly to our expected destination
As concrete expansion joints create thumps.
Whistling road noises and occasional bumps
Punctuating rhythmic sounds from the stereo,
As concrete expansion joints create thumps
Sense of contentment and pleasantry is apropos.
Punctuating rhythmic sounds from the stereo,
Cool breezes flow from open dashboard vents
Sense of contentment and pleasantry is apropos,
We are enjoying filtered outdoor autumn scents.
Cool breezes flow from open dashboard vents
Moderating the humidity of September heat
We are enjoying filtered outdoor autumn scents
A highly-anticipated road trip is totally upbeat.

Emotional intelligence
is best watered
with transparency
and fed through vulnerability.
Vulnerability becomes accessible
through practicing win/win courageous expectations
even in the most enduring partisan win/lose spaces,
secular and sacred
Transparency becomes articulate
through practicing multicultural curiosity
active and benign and free of prejudgment
and western white straight male
military-industrialized,
sometimes too fat and monoculturally self-satisfied
to become more than tolerant,
throwing outbound left-brain dominant
impatient-worded weapons
where right-brain interdependent active curiosity
listening tools
and win/win moderating skill-sets
for watering left-cognitive
and right-emotive
polyphonic intelligence
might foster rational reasons
to support resilient ego/eco-health care,
Receiving and giving balanced economic
ego-logos/eco-mythos
emotional intelligence,
emotive motives
best curiously watered
with courageous transparency
and fed through con-celebrated vulnerability.

Sunday afternoon
On a bench in the park
Friendly breeze
Moderating September heat.
She been to church
But it was nothing
Except people and practice.
God was almost silent.
Not the same
With Lloyd gone
He used to sing
Big and bold
With the tenors
And she sittin
Across an alto
And smilin at her man
Midst the songs of Zion.
Hardly seemed like Sunday
The rush all round.
But here in the park
Half way to the apartment
There was Church.
Laughter of children
Old men at the dominoes
Bright colour waking in the trees
Robin and goldfinch
Singing and stretching
For the coming trek.
Jessica with eyes closed
Felt His warm Hand
On her face
And began to speak out
“I was glad
When they said unto me.
Let us go into
The house of the Lord.
Our feet shall stand
Within thy gates
O Jerusalem.”

Hillary and Hair Horn Haiku
With you secret I should share
Hillary and messed up hair
More she must take care.
Looks like she just got
out of the shower lately.

Enough of this frigid weather already
It's March for crying out loud
Time for the temps to start moderating methinks
It's not civil and shouldn't be allowed
When the hell is spring supposed to arrive
It's just around which corner, I ask
It's long overdue, it's stressing us guys out
Want to lie on a deck chair and bask
Us Canadian fellows are a hardy bunch
We sometimes don't wear a hat
When temperature dip to minus forty-five
We go out for a stroll, how bout that
Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a wee bit
Minus twenty is a more like it, ahem
Still frigid enough to freeze the balls off a statue
Of Laurier, our seventh PM
We WILL survive, us guys always do
We're made of some pretty tough stuff
But give me a break, this is way too damn cold
Enough, is enough, is enough!

Just a while ago thought 5 was freezing
Now it's balmy from a few days ago
In comparison temps can feel warm or cold
Depending on what we're accustomed to
Fifty can feel downright damn balmy or frigid
Really not much us guys can do

At fifty in the fall wear a coat
At fifty in spring strip down to your underpants

-dedicated to and inspired by Awoh Kingsley-
To define a friendship
Is to define each element held in a grand sea
The moments shared between the water and the single fish
The seaweed coursing in the shallow
Sinking in the deep
Through trust two can prosper
And even be happy
But when mistakes are made
Trust becomes a demand
A weapon to test each other
Trust allows that seaweed to flow
Trust can also allow the currents to bury them
Without openness that trust will falter
Like an underwater volcano
Holding all the fire in
It is bound to explode
And though water will cool it somewhat
There’s no telling how long the next explosion will take
A friend should not take his time calculating that
Instead allow words to flow
Like the gills of a fish
Allowing water in and out
Cooling and moderating forever
Filtering the bad into good
Above all, love must reign
For friendship cannot grow without it
Without love
There would be no elements in the sea
The sea would be a bottomless pit
Of nothingness

As solemn curse extracts the entity of worse,
so moderating to a lesser verb
excoriates to slang of verse.
And so it is derivative's adverse,
is anger, that I cannot love thee - terse,
with gentle thought as in some morning's nurse.
I love thee, there it be, in violence or curse -
I love thee, love thee, love thee - no reverse!
