Masculinity
Perpetuate gender roles
Leave no man behind
We "don't ask, don't tell"
Our mentals left unspoken
Outcast behaviour
Ask for help, weakness
Boys don't...men don't cry - weakness
Suicide, weakness
The fixedness of certain things exhausts-
like my own shadow, this old tree and the sun.
I climb out of my dream,
Put on my clothes
And do not turn back.
I still carry the scent of you though-
The warming aroma of spices,
Juniper and citrus.
I sense in me a rare smell of masculine freedom.
Behind, I feel your eyes blaze intensely,
I do not halt. I walk. Not the brisk early morning walk,
but the lethargic walk, drowsily stretching after a sleep,
the last sleep before waking in which dreams appear.
I still feel your shoulders,
my lips pressed against them in my dream.
We stood like two bodies dissolved in a song.
I must remove you, the last strains of you
that’s somewhere within me as close as breath
but I will hold on to your last whisper,
one last thing you whispered into my neck-
“You’re reborn. You’re never the same again!”
(Shakespearean sonnet form: ABAB CDCD EFEF GG)
If there exists in your vicinity,
Presence of Toxic Masculinity
Give many thanks to your divinity
For this male fortunate proximity.
T’was men created engines, made the wheel.
Now look around, and all that you can see
Was made by toxic men who smelted steel
And conceived by male creativity.
You’ll find Ms. Curie heads a tiny list
Revealing gifts of femininity
A list so small that often it is missed.
Search if you will into infinity.
So ladies all, you should be grateful then,
That we are blessed with many toxic men.
...Loyalty, of all of them,
is the most lacking in our time.
But there’s untold importance in
staying true to those you find
who are sincere, honorable,
also true friends and family,
we build islands of refuge
in a sea of insanity.
Man’s great rock of stability
in the swirling dance of wrong,
loyalties, it is fair to say
are civilization’s bonds.
Finally, there is Aggression,
the hardest one to control,
but a good man who can fight hard
is more precious than even gold.
Some say we should abolish it,
that it does nothing but destroy,
forgetting that sometimes evil
is not something we can avoid.
And when evil seeks a victim,
it’s this virtue that it must meet,
were it not for male aggression
not a single soul would live free.
People who would dismiss these things,
who would lie and call them ‘toxic,’
strike me as people that inside
are frightened, broken, or sick.
To banish the traits that make us,
that built a world from sticks and stones,
comes off as mindless sophistry
from minds that are not yet grown.
And though they’ll never admit this,
I feel it must always be said,
were it not for the manly virtues,
we’d be concubines, slaves, or dead.
The musculature
is I am sure
somewhere in hiding
just waiting and biding its time
to amaze me.
She laughs at this and gives me a kiss
I pull a face as she pulls me closer
and
who needs a six pack
when I know she's
'got my back?'
I do like the colour pink though
although
blue is my favourite.
I also like curves that curve,
curves that make me do a
body swerve
and 'art deco's' not too bad
either although rather
angular
still
it takes all sorts
and that's what we all are.
in every big lady
there a helpless girl
to be exploited
in every small boy
there is a gentleman
to be honored
What is masculine? If you ask me:
It's perpetual drive and momentum;
And, you don't have to be a he or a she;
Testosterone and sweaty invention;
It's perpetual drive and momentum:
Lending a helping hand, uninvited;
Testosterone and sweaty invention;
Aggressive, agile and sharp-sighted;
Lending a helping hand, uninvited:
Protecting the weak and handicapped;
Aggressive, agile and sharp-sighted;
Loyalty, honesty and the will to adapt;
Protecting the weak and handicapped:
To be strong and gentle and uncruel;
Loyalty, honesty and the will to adapt;
To love with the passion of rocket fuel;
To be strong and gentle and uncruel;
And, you don't have to be a he or a she
To love with the passion of rocket fuel.
What is masculine? If you ask me....
Impregnable boundaries-
The ransom of magic
Third eye wanders
Desiring swollen imagination
A cough, a sneeze
Clothed in value
Who knows true love
But what spent
Agony in pursuit
‘ Masculine Majesty … ’
Medieval Lines # 2
Lo’ and Behold … Thy Masculine Majesty
Thy Manliness, Suits Thee, Most Perfectly
As Knightly Swain, doth’ this Maid Elate
Wherefore Thy Warrior Hands, Commence Passionate
Thy Kingly Eyes, Glisten-Graciously, Wise
And Smolder My Sight, as Sun doth’ Skies
Thy Princely Lips, Whence Wine doth’ Drip
Dare I Partake One Sip, ere’ Swoon and Skip?
Thy Presence and Essence, art’ Aphrodisiac to My Soul
I Beseech Thee, Sup from Mine Alchemy-Bowl
Forsooth, by Thine Bow and Arrow
and Mine Own, Blood, Bone Marrow …
… I Must Have Thee, lest’ I Wail in Sorrow
I Forswear The Handsomeness of Any Other Fellow
The Look of Thee, Melts Me … Like Candle Tallow
Thence … I Shall Seek Thy Love … on The Morrow
Lo’ and Behold … Thy Masculine Majesty …
Masculine male,
was a macho,
I did not know,
it was twice male,
once masculine,
and then macho,
it was the difficult way,
that I learnt the two,
he came across,
as an ordinary,
who would sound ordinary,
I was flummoxed,
at his tall talk,
but when he flexed out,
it all rippled in tosses,
I was impressed,
what was ordinary,
was now masculine and macho,
then all of a sudden,
walked in the next builder,
he was more ordinary,
but proved more masculine and macho,
when he opened and flexed,
now the first one paled,
and even looked very feminine,
now I know,
these adjectives are relative,
and have to read as scene demands.
Beautiful defines your being although you may not think it’s the most masculine meaning
to describe the feelings I have grown to have even through the good and the very bad
that we’ve shared none could compare. For every childish misunderstanding you’ve always
led me back to believing that there’s more to you than just being a fool. Lets
continue to grow old together share our pains and laughter, trials and tribulations,
failures and celebrations. You are and will always be a part of my mental transition
into the position of higher understanding and appreciation of the meaning of true love
and friendship.
