Many Splendored Thing Poems | Examples

Premium Member It Should Be The Law

Love is a many splendored thing
Once was a song with that title
Love is a major part of all our lives
The emotion that's particularly vital

Vital to the health and total well being
Of all creatures great and small
Contentment that lasts for all eternity
It's the greatest treasure of all

It seems the older this old guy gets
The more passionate he becomes
D'ya think I might need to visit a shrink
Will my addiction be overcome

Riding off into the sunset with milady
Yelling ride 'em cowboy, yeehaw
Real true love's a many splendored thing
Should make true love the law

Premium Member Silly Old Love Songs

Those silly old love songs from decades past
Still meander through in my mind
Those love songs that speak softly of the thrill
Of a blossoming new romance
That promise “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney
The definition of what true love is
“Love Is A Many Splendored Thing”
And Perry's “Can't Help Falling In Love”
Am I dating myself... perhaps
But these oldies tell of love in much simpler terms
Even though the world was still in turmoil
These songs promised hope
Of finding that very special person
To spend eternity with! To love and to cherish!
To grow old and grey with!
Those were very special times back then!
Ah! Memories!!!

Premium Member A Taste of Promise

Love is not
a many splendored thing;
it is a cot,
a comfy suspended ring
upon which we dream for wishes granted.

In the privacy of imagination
we envision
prince charming and fair maiden,
in their unchanging quest
for happy ever after.

If gods do bless we'll meet a vision
in the flesh and hearts will mesh
with a taste of promise,
as her daydream meets his fantasy
and love erupts.

Premium Member A Many Splendored Thing

My love for you just grows in me
Not obvious, it has to be
Nurtured, coddled, fed in there
Although with you I get to share
The fertile field that it's become
Through odes and music, just a sum
So small, a taste of what's to come
Should the waiting time be done

I've never loved someone like this
So thoroughly without a kiss
That's how I know this love is real
It isn't based on how I feel
Or what I've undergone with you
That's how I know this love is true
Ever present, every day
That's how I know this love will stay

Premium Member Paris In The Spring

If ever I should go again to Paris,
I hope that I can be there in the spring.
They say April is the time of year
When love pervades the atmosphere.
Couples stroll along the Seine,
Arm in arm or hand in hand,
They browse quaint bookstalls on the quay
And share a kiss along the way.
Perhaps they'll find a quiet nook
Where they can sit, sip wine, and look
Into each other's eyes and keep the world at bay.
For Paris captures in its spell
Those young messieurs and mesdemoiselles
Who find romance a many-splendored thing.
Where love's hopes and dreams survive and thrive,
Old hearts may even come alive
In that magic place that's Paris in the spring.

Premium Member Once There Was a Love

There was a time not so long ago
When lyrics of love embraced my soul
And I was a recipient of hugs and kisses,
As we walked together along the shore.

We fell into each other’s arms on the sand
The moonlight sang to us romantically,
I shall always remember your fond embrace
When we giggled, discovering intimacy.

Those days will linger forever in my heart
Like the haunting of our favorite melody,
And sing it I shall from time to time, my dear,
Sometimes I sing it to you all night long.

“Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing,” I know,
For I experienced it the first time with you,
And never again will I know how it feels
Until I am holding you in my waiting arms.

They both realize the "Truth".Here it is!! The pleasure of Love is in Loving. Premium Member A Sandy Note

Goodnight my lovely u r my heart and every beat between
that promises my wake to a new day with u on my mind.
I’ve gone a long road of no return to a love that secures a second chance
of a soulful reawakening. It’s easy to be lost and forlorn, forgetful of passions true and encompassing.
How blissful we r to have reconnected to this promising love affair of plenty
with both our losses close at hand, hurtful,
but with a glanced new beginning.
A wisdom point of close composure nurtured by a noncompliance morning of past to present to future benevolence co captured and needed sequences internal and corporeal coincidence. Fireworks reign when we intertwine kisses with octopus embraces in sheets of mutual desire.
Love is a many splendored thing.

Premium Member It's That Date Again

It's that date again
the 14th comes around
our thoughts turn to love
feelings within us abound

We've been in love so long
thinking back it's amazing
all these years have flashed
past makes us be praising

Love is a many splendored thing
privileged we are this to know
valentine's day brings it home
our love we pray to constantly flow

So let's rejoice in our lot
thanks for being my love
you've been so faithful to me
such special love ours from above

(My 2020 valentine day poem for my dear and loving wife Christine of 30 blessed years, God has been very good to us, blessed be his name.)

Premium Member God's Great Love Saved Us -Ephesians 2: 4,5

Love is a many splendored thing
but can anyone express it so real?
as does God who shows it so great
what can compare for His is the real deal

As well as displaying His special love
mercy is mixed in along with it too
God's mercy has a richness beyond words
so the divine cordial is so very true

Receiving this special godly gift
for our transgressions made us dead
having no life in ourselves at all
Christ came in as the living bread

Now being found alive in Christ
saved from sin by God's grace
for HIs love so abundant and free
reaches down come unto me He says

Who can describe truly God's love?
displayed on the cross for all to see
Jesus died at Calvary for His own
displaying His love on Golgotha's tree

("But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved." Ephesians 2:4-5)

The Many Faces of Love

What is love?

The North Star guiding
a lost seafarer home,
Or the Siren song luring
him to the rocky shores?
Is it frolicking in the moonlit night
in a field of flowers
Or trudging across
an arid, scorching desert?
Is it a freeway to bliss and joy
Or a meandering trail
through a rugged terrain
of grief and woe?
Is it a cup of hemlock
Or a chalice of nectar?
Is it a snake pit
Or a bridge over the chasm
of hatred and bigotry?
Is it an ever-elusive mirage
Or the rock of Gibraltar?

Love is all that and more,
And yet it’s nothing,
A mere emotion, a feeling –
At first blush, irrelevant
And yet,
It’s an impetus, a catalyst –
An euphoria permeating our entire being--
"Love is a many-splendored thing!"*

Premium Member When You Feel That Zing

Love is a many splendored thing
It's the meaning of life, it makes our hearts sing
Without it we're lost
As our ship gets tossed
Till that person appears and you feel that zing
