Malta

The flag my soul holds,
Story that unfolds.
Untold
Archipelago
A hint. There you go!
She’s bold!
Numerous tourists?
Without thy forests?
That’s gold!!!

The flag my hand waves,
A fan of no slaves.
Wisdom!
I love the George Cross
My heroic boss
Kingdom!
Her sense of tranquil?
My heart will fulfill.
Stardom!

The flag I witness,
Promotes no weakness.
True Strength!
It’s Democracy?
Flawed hypocrisy.
Full length
St.Paul’s first shipwreck?
February I’ve checked.
The tenth

Malta Exoticism

Malta puts me in high spirits,
always have me twisting at the first sip,
languishing its energetic erotic spike,
total elevation only can you see!
awe! alluring gestures floats off my tongue when I am on my Malta.

Premium Member If I Were Prime Minister

If I were Prime Minister
The air would be pure
Greenery would dominate
And nobody would be poor
Health would be a priority & Malta would flourish
Our land fully nourished
The Sandy beaches will light up across the Island
When the Moonlight hovers over its warm golden sands
We'll hear the sound of horses' hooves & that of a drum From Musical bands we''ll listen to the people hum
Couples will walk by hand in hand
Tourism will increase
Year after year
People flocking to visit to enjoy the Summer days & nights
In our beautiful Malta, our paradise
We'll hear the clinking of glasses
As People Celebrate life
All races welcome here
Girl or boy
Malta will be safe, there'd be nothing to fear
Criminals will be sent far far away
And we will live happily every single day!

VICTOR HAILS FROM MALTA

I picture you on your island of Malta,
fine treasures you mete with nature
and lovelorn memories. My mind’s eye
froths with imageries and portraitures.

You stir the sea of Poetry Soup’s lot,
ladle out friendship and kind words.
Halfway around the world, the sun
And moon shine with blessings stirred.

Crazy

In my day summer fun was crazy!
Malta comes to mind, vivid memories.
Playing water polo in the roughest sea!
Crazy!
Snorkelling on my own, two minutes down,
looking up, fifty foot, gagging!
Worth it, the wonders seen, amazing!
Crazy!
Three times rescued, suffering cramp,
swimming, the worse, with a friend,
we'd swam a bay one k., halfway back, it struck!
Crazy!
Diving off a thirty-foot cliff,
swimming up the cliffs water spout,
on rough days could be seen for miles!
Crazy!
Oh! I could do it all again, sadly now not even a maybe!
We, the wife and me, still enjoy the summer sun,
on our patio with family and friends, fun, but never
Crazy!
All true, the friends who saved my life, Alan Hobbs
Captain Ian Spence, then a bunch of mates,
who noticed I was being battered by the heavy seashore surf.
Crazy!

Premium Member The Island of Malta

Just returned from week on Malta
a lovely island with lots of sun
situated just south of Italy
so full of history and loads of fun

Many interesting places to visit
the capital Valletta's great place
something to interest everybody
much to do where folks pure ace

Sliema is also worth a visit
walk along prom has much to see
over to the island of Goza
take the ferry across nearby sea

Go to see where apostle Paul landed
shipwrecked there named St Paul's bay
also see Popeye's village nearby
where movie filmed down that way

My base was up north at Mellieha
very quiet but loads of steps to climb
so a lovely week enjoyed very much
hope visit again some day another time

Premium Member Memories of Malta

We’ve recently been to Malta and had an incredible time
I met Paul, Charma and Victor. Meeting soupers was divine!
The memories I have of our time together
Will stay with me forever and ever
In Malta there is so much to do, so many places to explore
It was our fourth consecutive visit … Malta holidays I adore!
Soon the time came for us to say goodbye
And home in the airplane we’d have to fly
I climbed on board the airplane (I’ll try to be discrete)
But the man sitting next to me was also taking up MY seat
I couldn’t put the arm rest down it was covered by his back
He needed a seat belt extension to give him a bit of slack
Fortunately I’m petite and don’t take up too much room
I wasn’t squashed for too long .. the pilot sure went zoom!

Paul Callus and I have finally met
It’s a day I’ll never forget
Paul is so charming and he’s got greying hair….
I’ll say no more of our meeting… I’ll leave it there
What happens in Malta stays in Malta!

Mediterranean island, where one finds so much to do
Abundant days of sunshine and the sea is limpid blue
Lavender, thyme and laurel; history spreads in rich galore
The temples, feasts, devotion bring religion to the fore.
Acclaimed for fruit and honey and the fish that’s brought to shore.

This is a friendly nation; you’ll be welcomed by a toast
To the best of health intended to last long while she’s your host.

Leaving Malta

Trying to find somewhere to hide
Deep within myself, but no longer can I.
At the airport waiting for departure,
More and more heartache, it is such torture.

Feeling like a rope being tugged either way
Tighter and tighter becomes the pull and
Harder and harder I try to invoke fun.
But it simply is not there, only growing despair.

Barely able to see through tears of sadness
As if a permanent goodbye, my world crumbling around me,
Preparing for the worst, but without need.
For none of it is real, only within me.

Unable to feel happiness, weighed down with grief
Trying to lose myself, avoiding feelings of loss
Rejection and abandonment,
Repeated patterns so well known.

Like old friends
Finally being cast off as a snake sheds its skin.
