Ever notice how eagerly people want to change you ~~
to make you over into their image.

Making new clothes
Sewing chilies
Ironing out problems today
Tonight washing tears away
Cooking up a quarrel
Fomenting confusion
And building discord
Come and see how
Things can change
In a moment
When you concentrate
Bake up goodness
Except use goodwill
Strengthen your resolve
To love your brother
Still.

Have you had enough of childish lies
and incompetent response?
Have you bathed in toxic manhood
until you long for nuance?
Are we going to save this planet?
Or will we all move somewhere else?
Will we turn our eyes toward justice
or become a failed police state?
I propose a national "makeover"
a new "US" to change our fate.
You adults will have to do this -
I only hope it's not too late.

You say I need a makeover,
that I'm not the man I could be
You say I'm too rough around the edges,
a little smoothing out would polish me
To you, I'm too straight ghetto;
I got the right mind,
just tilted a little wrong
Instead of saying: "I'm leaving,"
I say, "I be gone"
So let the makeover begin,
but I don't know what
will be different when it end
Will my family recognize me,
will I need a new set of friends?
A bad vibe is arising,
trepidation is setting in
Now I'm willing to make this sacrifice
to satisfy your insecurity
But once the makeover is done,
will you still like what you see?
In due time, no doubt you'll learn
this one immutable reality:
You can take me out of the ghetto,
but you can't take the ghetto out of me
Although you may refine my speech,
to talk in a proper Elizabethan tone
I will always remain ghetto,
straight ghetto to the bone
I will tell it like it is,
I will only come strong
I will always remain ghetto,
straight ghetto to the bone
A tribute to my beloved brother Joseph

As
Life
Shows the
Results from
Decisions taken
Surge a new opportunity
To begin a new story to tell in the future
Before time slips from your hands, without striving all the pending goals of your bucket list

Salons and beauticians carve beauty
Today beauty and makeup are considered as duty
What implies these beautiful faces?
Reality and honesty in some cases
Other hide ugliness and show they are fruity
Is it fair or a cruelty?
For ourselves a complete dishonesty
As our beauty old age surely displaces
Really? The Makeover
To focus on eternal inner density
And promise to step back from fake makeover's city.
Soul proposes man dispossesses
Let us oath to remove these twisted phrases
I pray, a day may come of truth in majority
Really? The Makeover

THE MAKEOVER
The house he occupies still breathes
Though haggard, it's not trashed
He and his house seemed outcast to many
Once a gentle part of the landscape
Those features fair, soon became gaunt and sallow
He was ravaged by his ravenous hunger for opiates
By degrees, his hearing, his sight
His sense of smell and taste waned
Little strokes fell lofty oaks.
Those who once knew him, watched
Slowly, he kept vanishing like visions in the night.
Does afflictions warrants mercy?
When he had cried inside from pangs of hurt
His Maker bid him to rise.
He heard drums beckoning, and dance he did
No more anguish, bitterness, and woe
He felt earth's soothing touch
From soul of his feet on up
He took small steps, looked up at start
Shining with moon light, on warm summer night
In the distance, he could see glow of his house
Touched by his Maker's tender hands
His footprints were fit for others to follow
For his present to himself turned guide
Steering him on the straight and narrow.

The Makeover- Shots
You take one shot
And I miss you
I know you're gone
But I still wanna kiss you
You've made yourself a monster
Both you and me you scar
Your eyes are dimly lit
But behind shines who you are
Who you used to be
The part that misses me
(Pre Edit: January 17, 2015)
One shot.
One decision.
Never to be seen again.
Late night kisses
And sweet nothings
Long gone
To yellowed eyes
And an emptied heart.
Your monster in the making
Slowly made its way
To the surface
And only in your dimly-lit
Blood-shot eyes
Is a near gone image
Of who used to lie behind
The addiction's pry.
The part that still loved
Me.

moonlit shadows springs
eternal flame loves desire
unquenched forever
3/ 4/ 2015. Haiku.
Springtimes moon shadows dreams inspire.
Eternal flight flames loves desire.
Unquenched divine forever bright.
Starlight enchants, beams with delight.

He stole a new dress from a shop
And wig that was like an old mop,
As his make up was bad,
He resembled the mad -
This ‘miss’ was a bit of a flop.

Yesterday I bought a dream
a little worn out at the seams
I got it from the Goodwill store
someone left it by the door
I threw it on the sofa bed
to make a cushion for my head
to fluff my fantasies tonight
and make the endings
come out right
I've furnished every room
this way
I find a little every day
A hope,a dream ,a true belief
I always pay
I'm not a thief
I know it's not a surefire cure
but I need mental furniture
you see I lost mine in a flood
a Holocaust of breath and blood
so that's why I need everything
a wish,a prayer,the thoughts of spring
I hate this emptiness within
let's move this bus and start again!
