Consider the man in the street if you will
what's he doing there standing stock-still
maybe like the chicken he's crossing the road
and half-way over with nothing better to do
only slowed to admire the view
perhaps he's pushing his luck
for remaining stationary no doubt about it
he'll be hit by a van car lorry or truck
let's hope it's not so as hearing them coming
the man in the street beats a hasty retreat
making hay he hits the ground running
and his narrow escape's a clean getaway
to dawdle or dilly-dally down all his days

The lorry driver
Poem
Lionel Derbyshire
He is not at home
He is on an open
Dark wide road
With potholes.
His precious family
His treasure home
Is on his mind.
On his shoulders
Is a long lorry
With everyone's need.
Lorry driver
His restless arm
His calm arm..
With full of hope
He drives a load
Of provisions.
His steering wheel
He grips tightly
As if he is hugging his
Children.
His lorry moans
The mountains up and down
Past midnight
In the storm
His heart trembles
At the sharp bends
His sudor drips
With gratitude
Through the slopes
As he lets
His lorry slowly roll
Into the next town.
The lorry driver
Also has hopes
That his family
Is ok at home
Like you..
You know.

Can one a whole day spend saying 'sorry':
Can man fill with 'sorry' back of lorry?
Methinks it would make a sight gory
Craving 'longest sorry' for one's glory:
Someone quite like you hairy or furry
To with 'voiced sorry' your favor curry...
It was a full day of it to a boss
By a stretched woman fearing sad job loss;
She had, too, written an apology,
Which had permitted some tautology:
"I'm working singlehandedly alone;
No great help from calls with my handset phone".
Really, alone bearing a most cruel cross
Once, a rolling stone gathering no moss.
Then, work she left for Evangelism,
Lately struck by its rare magnetism;
Preacher's new message Asceticism:
Man should be snubbing all cynicism...
Her boss was shocked that her last name is Ross.
He'd met twelve Ross that tried nothing gross.

Hilary was in a killing hurry,
Not wanting to miss a math class,
In her growing worry
Shattered a glass!
Now, she must favor curry
With two stalwarts
Who wouldn’t let this pass:
Humiliation-loving Harry
Who sat his offenders on time-consuming grass
And pain-inflicting twin Larry
Who could crush a not too mischievous lass.
You take it, then,
One never knows when
One is likely to a journey in a killing hurry
Tidy up before does a rickety lorry.

White flag is the biggest worry
Of combat-ready soldiers already in a moving lorry:
Of communities with vampires thirst for blood
Wishing to with the dead cemeteries flood...
Of militants who denied the chance for murder
For themselves feel mortally sorry
And dreadfully out of order
The restraining factor, a thing to pillory.
White flag - the greatest dislike of angered cattle,
Who disapprove of a truce midway a heated battle...
Of terrible incendiaries and the worst guns
That love to ignite that which burns...
White flag is the most innocent job of tailors
Nurturing dreams more ennobling than dollars
Sibling of elderly Olive Branch
That enables the attacked in the morning to eat a peaceful lunch.
