The lorry driver
The lorry driver
Poem
Lionel Derbyshire
He is not at home
He is on an open
Dark wide road
With potholes.
His precious home
His treasure family
Is on his mind.
On his shoulders
Is a long lorry
With everyone's need.
Lorry driver
His restless arm
His calm arm..
With full of hope
He drives a load
Of provisions.
His steering wheel
He grips tightly
As if he is hugging his
Children.
His lorry moans
The mountains up and down
Past midnight
In the storm
His heart trembles
At the sharp bends
His sudor drips
With gratitude
Through the slopes
As he lets
His lorry slowly roll
Into the next town.
The lorry driver
Also has hopes
That his family
Is ok at home
Like you..
You know.
