Love in a Dead Heart

No star. No light. No candle burns.
The heart, once warm, is cold and still.
To rock, to lifeless stone it turns —
A tomb, shut fast, in night as chill.

And in that tomb, so cold, so bare,
Lies Love made flesh, and crucified.
No breath. No voice. No answer there.
The world stood dark the hour He died.

Then Joseph came, a secret friend,
And begged the Body, cold as clay;
He wrapped his Lord, and knelt to tend
The wounds, in grief and in dismay.

There Christ lay on the stone, alone
His journey through the world was done;
No warmth was left in flesh or bone;
The earth cried out beneath the sun.

No grief had ever pierced so sore,
No heart had ever bowed its head —
The dark that day was dark far more
Than any dark before the dead.

Yet lower still His spirit came,
Down to the deep, where dead men lay,
And broke the bonds of ancient shame
That held our father, bound for aye.

Far in the east, a light was born —
Not warm, not gold, but cold and thin;
No man yet knew, that fearful morn,
If Life could ever wake within.

I sought the LORD and He answered - (CM)

I sought, in silence, solace and peace,
by which, my dank soul cried 'release'.
From pent up ridicule, guilt and shame,
long nights of torment, I wept Christ's Name.

I wept Christ, as lies pierced my mind,
my sombre spirit poised to - walk the line.
Instead I battled through decades of pain,
led now, to step out, and enjoy the rain.

Lord!

If I am to remain
In this land, within this breath,
Lord, grant me permission!
The right to smell the scent of flowers,
The right to look upon those green hills,
The right to win the heart of a fair maiden.
Intoxicated by the ale bestowed by God,
Proclaim that I am truly alive!
When I open my eyes, my voice carried upon the blue waves,
Give me the divine right
To behold the smile of a fair maiden!

If You, Lord, acknowledge and proclaim my land,
I shall become an eagle,
Freely dropping earthworms to the cats of the seventh generation,
And at times, I too shall swallow that prey.

Our Lord and Saviour's Second Wind

Look there; see Noah's arc is going down!
N Its looking like we're all gonna drown
So what was the problem? The hefty cause?
Iceberg breach? Captain overboard?
No I wish, Noah just had too many sons
And so now the ship weighs bleeping tons

You see: Noah had SO many sons
That the bad ones ate the good ones
To make room for the bad sons to fit
(Was some proper soylent green typa bleep)
It's too heavy now, the ship's going down
We're the bad guys n we're gonna drown
Come on, shovel the water out, on your side!
It's over now, but there's still time to bide.
Yeah I know it might be in vain
N it looks like water's coming in all the same
But trying never hurt nobody at all
We got nothing to lose, I mean really nothin at all

And either way, Jesus is coming n judging tonight
So... Best look like you're at least trying to fight

Premium Member Lord let it rain

Every day it is a hundred and five
very little outside survives
This summer heat beats us down
grass dead, leaves brown
Not a whisper of rain in sight
heat fatigue even in the night
Stay inside pray the AC blows
constantly on, praying it won't explode
To hot to eat to hot to sleep
drinking water hydrated keep
Dogs kinda mossy than lie down
on the cool tile floor with em I'm found
Gentle rain drops soak deep in ground
than let it pour so lower temps cool us down
Give us a reprieve from this summer heat
Lord let it rain we will celebrate, praise and eat.

A Prayer unto the Lord

Longing for faith, my soul beneath the veil in grief did pine,
Till Thou didst teach that Grace alone bestows this gift divine.
Nor can repentance bear its fruit, nor contrite tears impart,
Except Thou cast perfect brokenness into the sinner's heart.

In showing me the true beginning of the way to Thee,
Thou humbledst Thyself unto hell's lowest deep;
The fearful gulf yawned wide beneath my wandering feet,
Yet Thou Thyself – the only Way – dost safely keep.

Thy Grace alone sustaineth whom the deeps would claim;
Thou stayest him that else were swallowed in despair.
Thou askest nought but tears in true repentance' name,
And mind made new by holy change and faithful prayer.

From Thee all things receive their life, their breath, their being;
Thou bringest forth from hell, corruption, passion's night;
Revealing purity no mortal thought can compass seeing,
And givest Living Water, lest the seeing soul should die.

May each inhale be Thy cold fire –
Ineffable, unseen, without beginning,
Unchanging, deathless, never to expire,
Intangible, yet all my being filling.

The Prayer unto the Saviour

Save me, my Saviour, by Thy Grace alone,
Not by the deeds my sinful hands have done.
Thou willest me to save: Thou knowest well
The way to rescue me from death and hell.

Save me as Thou wilt, as Thou canst, as Thou knowest;
By Thy known paths, Thy saving mercy showest.
Upon Thee, O my Lord, I set my trust,
And to Thy holy will my spirit I adjust.

Do with me what Thou wilt; Thy will be done;
I seek no other refuge, save the Holy One.
If Thou wouldst see me in the Light—blest be Thy Name!
If Thou wouldst have me in the darkness—blest the same!

If Thou unfoldest mercy’s door to me,
’Tis good and blessing; if Thou shuttest it,
Blessed art Thou, O Lord, whose just decree
Hath closed that door, as Thou dost see it fit.

If Thou destroy me not with all my sin,
Glory to Thy mercy’s boundless store!
If Thou condemn me for my sin within,
Glory to Thy righteous judgment evermore!

But as Thou wilt, dispose my path below,
That I at last Thy full salvation know.

Premium Member Ode to Jimmy Smith: Lord of the Hammond

Ode to Jimmy Smith: Lord of the Hammond
Man, this cat be swingin' hard/
In a smoky room where midnight leans against the battered walls, a preacher’s fire, a river’s blues, a man called Jimmy calls/
His fingers flash like lightning’s tongue across the B-3’s face—from gospel pew to backroom jazz, He sanctifies the space/Bebop’s quicksilver dances here, bold horn lines now reborn, yet every note drips gospel truth, and blues for those forlorn.
The Sermon! —twenty minutes long, a prayer that shakes the floor, while Midnight Special hums and glows with secrets, warmth, and more/ At Chicken Shack, the groove is deep, each riff a soulful shout, and Organ Grinder Swing lays bare what Jimmy is about/
He took a humble organ’s voice, and taught it how to weep—howl joy, confess, and testify, and rock the bones beneath/
O Jimmy, lord of drawbar dreams, your legacy remains: A Hammond roaring through the night, still pulsing in our veins.

BUT

If you, Lord, recorded
Everything I’ve done wrong
The list would be certainly
Terribly long.
Your word says just that
So there seems little hope
Until the word, ‘BUT’.

A little word—BUT.
And at once, the scene changes
Abrupt.
BUT there is forgiveness,
There is forgiveness,
With You, dear Lord,
BUT there is forgiveness
With You
There is forgiveness
With You!

Read Psalm 130.

Thanks

As I snuggle beneath the sheet
I thank you Lord placing my feet
at such a distance from my nose
and all else 'tween my head and toes.
Though other things you could improve,
of this design I do approve.

Forgive Me Lord.

My heart feels heavy, filled with pain,
I know I’ve stumbled, failed again.
I didn’t mean to cause you grief,
But Lord, I long for sweet relief.

Forgive me, Lord, and make me new,
Shine your light, my soul renew.
In your mercy, I will stand,
Safe forever in your hand.

Beneath the darkness, lost the sun.
I seek your grace for all I’ve done.
Your love is kind, your truth is near,
You wipe away my every tear

Take my sorrow, take my shame,
Lift me higher in your name.
Through the storm, I’ll sing to you,
Faithful God, forever true.
