Any Subject - Octtava Rima - Dedicated to the artistry of glass artist, Dale Chihuli

Spells of flames, winter moons, blue sunshine, sunsets ~
Glass stained by whispers in bubbles of rainbows
Sleeps, captive of creativity’s minx possessed ~
Trapped magic quivers, enchantment to bestow ~
Beauty waits to paint kaleidoscope’s pallette
In hues and shapes borrowed from day’s bright meadow
Desert winds gather in whorls - windstars descend
Through the flutters of fiery flames sand transcends
Breath of moonbeams refracted into twisting swirls
Light trapped in luminescent channels, dead-ends,
A kiss of fire shapes hot glass in molten curls
Through embers of wanton fireflies shape descends
Globes emerge from red coals with cascades of pearls
Fire dance spins smelted crystal into legends
Beauty blown from the ageless artist’ breath seeds
Radiance for glass gardens - fantasy freed.
Tjhe Cretans have centered there
intentions
made foly of the traditions
stood in the Pool of Rightousness
to drink the wines of endearment and affection
callously they decieve
for those who belive
and shall rub the ointments
of victory in there losses
Might the moon emcompass the
straddlers
to brring them into aligment with
Talus!
There they shall stand as men
before the God of Wrest
each seed sown
to bare the friut
the bark of the trees
to make the leather
the presious metals smelted
formed and trimmed with
the gem stones
Talus stand before me
that I have labored
and am Champion above all!
Talus recognize me attop all these men
that I am Champion of
Champion
on every coast
in every feild
to sell every conseccion
That I am recognized
to all men as best
before me no other
and after me the same
Champion
recognized by such adornments!
As Swedish lightning enters
Renders day from deepest night
And (soulful) wishers beg
Mortgaging their tearful fortunes
For an ounce of pure spiritual bullion
With happy veins glistening
Truth, honor, sufficient respect
Among the smelted ore
Ready for mold and use
Pass me down
The spirit roars
Throw me selflessly into the frenzy
That needs the slightest taste
Where spirit climbs
Wind lifting it above the caroling
Desperate chorus
They sing to place the blame
Affix the blame
Plainly on shoulders
Foreign yet known
Sturdy, meaty
Built by strength
Gained, endured
Through the repetition
Yet believe, they will
Chant its gross tales of hope
Until the sun can rise
On its own
Two feet.

The sky turned from drab to gunmetal grey;
pewter raindrops slipped through pools of mercury.
I went out onto the covered deck to smoke a cigar.
Steely hued geese flew through metallic showers,
ferrous sheets of sleet crashed into a leaden haze.
It was easy to imagine platinum dioramas turning
within each particle of soaking spindrift.
I thought of space junk, not ours, but an alien detritus
drifting in from a thousand galaxies,
hundreds of space craft abandoned and defunct
all slipping, unmoored into fragments
falling and smelted small
within times rendering forge.
A plunging litter of far explorations -
one last landfall upon our far flung world
as the dissolved ore of a once iron will.
Victory to the champ, who perseveres through it all
One smelted and refined through life's red-hot furnace
Who was all beaten down and yet clawed his way back each and every time.
Cheers to our friends who battled internal demons in secret.
And yet sought not the "easy way out."
For they held on to life through all travails.
Cheers to the villains who cursed at us with bitterness.
For they only propelled us to greater plains.
Though we passed through the eye of the needle
We yet cherished the precious, priceless gift of life.
For life's a path fraught with despair at each and every turn, but we sought a greater tomorrow.
Ever telling ourselves, "Things can only get better."
No matter how scared we were, it was our mantra.
Seeking out green pastures in pestilence and drought
Cheers to the ones who blessed us with their fellowship at each phase of our lives.
They taught us life's integral lessons.
This poet decided against
becoming a measly minced meaty morsel
undetected inauspicious augury
assigning adept
aqueous ace AOL amphibian,
who surreptitiously crept
to the secret crypt (guarded by
foo fighters and amazing dragons)
said gendarmes did except
special fluid scrip as egress into
heavily fortified
(with USDA recommended allowance),
thus when the configurative motley crue
including thyself (a bono fied doo
bee brother - long given up for lost,
which "FAKE" oracle
misinterpreted by a goo goo
doll, and cross dresser named Hugh
played being took a vow el,
and hence consonantly knew
all along, i dwelt peacefully
in a soundcloud loo
immensely spacious with ooh
dills of survival trappings
purchased from Peru
laborers treated by free pact
guaranteeing a socially
conscious shopper to rue
painstaking indigenous stoop labor,
now stamped imprimatur could allow,
enable and provide means to shoe
each formerly eczema dappled,
cracked bare foot
ah, a glimmer of hopefulness
(upon this crowded house of a planet) view
which youtube snapchat ting
reddit as joyous outlook
sans linkedin shutterfly,
twitter ring tender flickr ring shoots
communicated an instagram message
of hopefulness kickstarting optimism
versus the initial thread of this poem,
which to set this got off track
(hinting at goal to be
a paperback book writer wannabe)
rather than ending up as a byte size snack
for a limbering beast, into whose tumblr
of one jagged razor sharp teeth
like daggers lined up along a rack
of reinforced steel maw,
which bang for the bite did pack
leaves no room for bing a survivor
as fierce jaws clamp down
worse than getting steam rolled by a mack
truck, but subjected to thee yield,
whence thousands of pounds
per square inch of pressure
on par lambasted from Donald Trump flack.
I suddenly became aware
(although rooted motive not clear)
avoiding self castration ere
yours truly back during
forty three plus summers ago
(do the math and figure out what year)
long haired pencil necked geek
applied dull razor
to remove, (albeit temporarily) hair
covering these skinny legs.
The missus asked me
(hitherto known as her bozo)
just mere moments ago
to craft humorous poem to glow
nsync with the shiny nose of Rudolph
keeping syncopated metrical flow
thus methought to crow
about being equally as foolish
streaking naked outside at five below
so without further here I go
rattling off gibberish as common Joe
King cole, a merry old soul...
dirt poor, hence without any dough
to embellish endeavor as literary pro,
who also sought to catch eye of Mister Perdue
(yea him of agribusiness fame)
to sacrifice self for New Year's barbecue.
Yours truly repurposed courtesy rigged
easy to assemble cannibalistic spit
with large fig leaf covering puny naughty bit
meekly (née willingly) surrendered
matter of fact, I paid with bitcoin chit
recognized latest currency
ever since legal tender easily susceptible
and oftimes confused as counterfeit
money forged, smelted, and hammered
linkedin with pendulum that swung within pit.
Thus analogous to
Five Chinese brothers immune
yours truly constituted more'n one secret boon
such fiery flames (hot enough
to melt like molten rock)
could harm not a hair
of one *****sapien baboon
matter fact simian in question could become swell
think hot air balloon
allowing, enabling and providing me quick escape
national anthem playing as most popular tune,
a capella, I simultaneous croon
as hot embers snap, pop, and crackle
token human crisply cooking
taking place at high noon
despite the most ferocious typhoon,
no worry, I defy being drowned
survival skills inherited sophisticated protozoan
symbiotic eukaryotes since time immemorial
livingsocial within tight quarters
with not mushroom
to maneuver - oh... hold on,
cuz I will be done lame
reasonable rhyme really soon
ah... just about done
getting cooked the color maroon.
Copper blooms, titanium too below the iron of the sky
Rich fields of ore, quarried, lay everywhere without a quarrel
In conjunction with all things shiny on the land and rust of day
Mountains pinnacles are miles high
With gold draped cliffs of drifting yellow beads of brass
Green vegetation grows around them to quell their worries
Reaching to be free from electricity, thermal conductivity
Streams that run along the fields of metal valley mines
Gray with aluminum strands soft and solvent
Punctuate the landscape up above
Anodizing, analyzing, thinking they are zinc
So much of zinc below the solid surface riches
All this to be discerned by proper science expeditions
Metal machines gather what they need to feed their kind
Golden days, silver nights, tongues of tungsten
Wrap themselves around themselves for warmth
Metalloids are not yet born or forged
Malleable to shaping when they come
Some nonmetallic friends stop by to see the young
Marble and silicon are spies
Disclosed, exposed as such
Despised, disposed of for their corrosive side and lies
Platinum dressed in blue arrives
Stays to take a smoke or two
Smoldering in a blistering sun
Smelted, furn-aced for the future
To be tempered into something smooth
To contemplate the truth with other alloys
Query how all metals can be used
How Earth can hold itself together with the ores
Both in the ground and in the metal fields outside
To lay aside barren lands their souls in sun for warmth
Metal-tate a way to feel the force
They carry on and need no water
Of course rocks are most jagged and driest on mountain tops
They yield the finest metals, minerals at their pinnacles up there
And where suns furnace first glowed on
Touched the tip of Earth
Up there still, refines, defines the metal fields
9/22/14 Pinnacle - Poetry Contest
The faces of the tom-toms were sallow,
So was the face of the sun, dark-visaged,
Red, and starved through a pogrom
That assaulted the peace of the beasts.
Darkness spelt the names of diseases,
Each pronounced through stiffened tongues,
Whited by the scourge of hate – a common
Figure, cadaverous and laconic, but incestuous.
Grieving rivers sought ways to be rechristened
Or rebaptized by holy rills with less fetor, as
Long as riparian languages were still spoken on
Breaths of brooks, broken, but gathered in bits
By hands that leaned on fermented soot only.
And darkness persisted, perspiring from hostile
Beats of hollow drums when fire reaches them
From tormented skies.
One truth loomed: the truth of a disvirgined
Destiny, clothed in serrated raiment of grief.
On its crown, shredded petals of holocausts
Form toothless thorns shaped like lightning.
Death was prominent, dispirited, and hung loose
On strings smelted on anvils raging from heinous
Rape of a blooded land. Shores wept with humour
When our frightened coasts sneezed with mirth.
I speak of Biafra where the land still bleeds
I recall that vision, of a crowded city,
Where signs were hung in heaven,
Where voices were muted by the colour of bold words.
Epirus saw the needs of it's people
through the eyes of there need.
While on Mimaki the mounds of architecture
were unveiled to a world wishing for
modern sification .
Turisotto meddled enough to evoke a sense
of being a villaist, often due to the themes
of control, power, and defiance to sway her feelings
one might wish to be clandestine,
there she could become the perfect Ms. Know-it-All
.quartz veins or sedimentary rock
we may lack but the streams and creeks
might bring the harvest we desire
she spoke upon the mount of Mimaki
the extrications shall be stacked tall
she looked to the troubled people of the region
and said they shall be troubled
that I might cause them to be troubled
shall the sift sort the sand from the gold
to be smelted in the crucible of Hesperides
might the gods interfere with the mortals
marrages and romantic relationships
remind the mortals that Posidens Jealousy might
come from people beleiving he was a woman in the Myths
or a man in the tales.
But a God above all mortals
Didgeridoo's shall be heard all through
our kingdom
when the mortal look to hear the Lyre and flute
The Halls of The Mount Mimaki shall
whisper my name to the frisson response
of fearers.
