Just for you,I stayed away from
a guys' night- out of cool poker;
even prevented myself from having
the pleasure of beer on the couch.
But while my hands poured detergent,
ten times over, all I heard were rambles
and gurgles while the plates kept
their oil around the edges. Yes, I tried
to fix your waistline filled with grease,
the pipe clogged from old age.
Serving me well, we both knew
it was time to mark you as junk;
sorry about this, I rang the cargo
man as my hands were beginning
to ache from arthritis.My insight
tried to think without being so
introspective; smudges and a
big loss of fun hours with the boys
made me decide to let you go.
Did I tell you my wife went out
tonight with the girls? And I am left
hanging on to piles of kitchenware,
just you and I on a dreary Saturday.

there was a milkman when I was a child
he brought fresh milk to our doorstep every morning
left it there in a little metal box that had the dairy name on it
there was also a bread man in the fifties
If we were lucky we might get the white cupcakes
They were uniform, frosted with sweet pink icing
we always got the bread,
but not always the cupcakes
the bread man came once a week, on Friday
Seventy years later Prime trucks will bring you
dog treats, TV sets, laundry detergent, lipstick,
hair dye, tomato juice, and anything else you could want.
My relatives would have never believed this possible
back in the day.

the leaf of jack-fruit is luxuriant
i can’t remember whether i ever notice
the portrait of your face on it
there are so many words
that are slippery
how much rustic is the dust of the legs
of the young person is known to the road of the city
daubing green on both palms
i call for rain …oh rain ..oh rain
and into that rain i let my wrist-watch float
thus the great rainbow unfolds its wise mirror
on the scaffold of bottle-gourd
from the bright cloth-end falling down
the odour of detergent
thus the applied mathematics of the diesel
is learnt to a greater extent

behind the change of colour of the swelled wind
the samovar plays no role
though you know it you tear off tears
from your eyes
and the merry biscuits that are kept in the jar
raise a joint demand to serve them
after wrapping with new banana-leaves
and the funny thing is that no accounts is found out
of the expenditure on the lip-stick that was used
by the fishes in the aquarium at the time of illness
of the antenna
by the hands of the clock stretching their shanks apart
is it possible to know the actual age of a comb
either it’s costly or cheap
Honey, I'm home!! Did you miss me at all?
Where are you?
Yoo-hoo, anybody home??
Have you been extra good, and mmmm
the house seems so fresh and clean, wow!
Did you eat right?
A-mazing! You actually washed the dishes!
I think I should leave you more often!
Where are you anyway??
My, you even watered the plants!!
Are you for real?
Or were you abducted by aliens??
Everything's just so dust-free...
and you changed everything,
even our white curtains!
You switched them to Red??
But I am not really liking it...
but at least it's not pink.
I HATE pink.
Sorry hun, you know I love white.
Which reminds me,
Did you remember to do the laundry?
Did you remember to leave the whites ALONE?
Honey!! Gosh can't you speak up louder?
Where are you anyway?
I feel like I am talking to the wind here...
and what is that sound???
Ok, I'll follow there in the basement
what are you doing there anyway??
Shucks, the smell of detergent--
it's so overwhelming, hunny bun.
What's this hanging on the doorknob?
PINK shoelaces??
Where'd this come from??
DOOLEY!!! What the HECK have you done???
Are you for real?
I think you've been abducted by aliens!!
You touched my WHITES.
ALL of THEM??
even my shoelaces??
and you washed them with those
darn RED curtains????

Mama and Granny
Herded children through the kitchen
Out the screen door, to the yard
Where we wouldn’t be underfoot
Cousins all brown from summer
Sun baking soft skin and erasing
The loneliness of winter from
Hillbilly faces – cotton topped
Tresses white since birth, curled
Mama and Granny
Yelling loudly from the kitchen
“it’s time to eat – come get it”
Little bellies churned eagerly
Fried chicken – a leg I chose
Mashed taters and gravy
Biscuits from soft, white dough
Baked in a wood cookstove
Mama and Granny
Piled plates full of food
For hungry eyes who dove in
Before grace could be voiced
After pie and cake and everything
We could partake of – Sunday dinner
Washed down with sweet tea
And a bottle of love, homegrown
Happy and hopeful - we had no fears
Mama and Granny
Murmured quietly, taking turns
Rubbing plates and pots and pans
With the Joy that was Granny’s detergent
After dinner, we played – screaming
With pleasure that comes from
Sharing hearts and lives
With the ones you call family
The gifts from God’s loving nature
Two hearts in an awesome communication
but covered by bodies which are worshipers of denial.
She adores him, he cherishes her
but such feelings are molded into the formality of colleagues.
Excitement, no matter how little, is suppressed,
appreciation rendered from a falling heart but by casual lips;
attraction, pressures the borders of the mind through its swell
but yet restricted by the protective bunkers of pretense.
When the time for absence to ease the saga comes,
anticipation drafts out a time table
for expectation to put every event on alarm
in both souls which cling to the thoughts of the next reunion.
Ego strips to perform a show on affectionate longing;
he becomes the gold standard to her new lifestyle
while she becomes the detergent to which his actions are washed.
Time once again takes a shift from itself,
internal body signals responding to a meeting, soon to occur.
Face to face, the physical acquaintance is once more blessed
but the corresponding fever has now began to snore,
weakening the whiskers of attraction to stay down.
Executive in the outside, voracious in the inside
with longing spirits towards each other
but confined by dramatized strictness.
Static and fixed concentration but away from her from the guy
with concrete rigidity lasting for long-long minutes.
Expert carefulness and planned accuracy in body movements from the lady
with continuous episodes of deep exhales
coming out of tension’s internal burning sticks.
Avoiding each other’s gazes with admiration’s lips tightly sealed
epitomizing an atmosphere of two minds in one likeness,
yet standing as agents of discomfort to each other.
Heat has unnecessarily been added to a delicacy so spicy
and nothing can blow it out unless someone says something.
Official Dish - Didactic
This dish is clean, comes with an official seal of approval
It must be kept away from others on the shelf
Nothing good can come from disobedience
When using dish detergent… Don't!
Be sober when you get close
Wash it frequently with chocolate soap
It is not nice to break it, rape it or lick it when you're through
Keep this dish from direct sun light
Away from loud children with hammers and knives
Weapons of mass destruction are not advised
It comes in a hermetically sealed box
Follow the instructions on the top
Make love to it if you must
With proper protection and gloves
Don't place hot meals on it or talk dirty
This dish is for display purposes only
If it breaks it can not be replaced
Take it for a walk on Tuesdays at 3:00 am
If it objects Wednesdays will have to do
Official dish has no intentions of its own
Didactic dishes do not own telephones
Are not interested in any thing but poems
According to their owners
Which is questionable based on what we understand
It is best to leave them alone
Official dish is one of a kind
Non political, round and flat
And that's a fact
That's all you need to know
The day my life went whacko, I woke up bumfuzzled.
To this day, I can’t tell you why I was so puzzled.
First I put instant oatmeal in my coffee maker;
I made sure I selected my favorite, Quaker!
Then I poured in some milk and a handful of raisins.
I presumed on a yummy treat I’d soon be grazin’.
What I ended up with was a clogged Mr. Coffee.
For my breakfast, I choked down a stale piece of toffee.
Then I had to do laundry. There was no detergent
and no dryer sheets. My circumstances were urgent!
So I dashed off to buy all the items I needed.
Then the time came to pay, and my plans were impeded.
for my purse was at HOME. I had no cards or money.
When I watch silly sitcoms, I find such scenes funny!
On my way to retrieve my purse, I got two tickets.
from a smirking patrolman who said, “Ma’am, please click it!
And your license?” “At home, sir.” I took my citations
and, attaching my seat belt, I hid my frustration
till I’d driven at least half a mile. Then I hollered,
quite aware I would have to pay hundreds of dollars.
So preoccupied by these events, I was crying.
Sitting there at a four-way stop, I began trying
hard to fathom that incomprehensible scene.
Was that stupid red stop sign EVER gonna turn green?

Love feels like it has gone far away
She used to exist everywhere it seems
Now she hides in fear of being used up or let down
Most now, don’t even remember what she feels like
I remember long ago
Love used to have big bright colors
lightening bugs would soar through the night sky
with dancing white beams that glowed in the dark
four leaf clovers would spring from green pines of grass
but would ever elude being found and plucked
by those wanting a taste of its Irish good luck
floral beach balls and pink rubber kick balls were the center of summers delight
camp fire girls adorned navy blue vests and strutted proudly holding red white and blue flags down main street on Memorial Day
lazy polka dot burnt orange black lady bugs
would sleep under the sun
waiting to be scooped up
each child hoping to find the lady
with the most dots
to win the game
cotton candy colored May Day dances held in the public-school yard always on the hottest and sunniest day of the year
each student excited about dressing up in colorful garbs from different cultures around the world
Love was innocent then...
Love had the best aromas too
tide detergent, vanilla extract
talcum powder, wonder bread
sweet potato pie
hot dogs on toasted rolls at the public pool
Chanel #5 on Church Sundays
lots of Chanel #5
Love had the most wonderful sounds
the rustle of fall leaves under your feet
the crunch of plastic sofa covers at grandma’s house
sitting on the porch listening to night crickets on dad’s lap
Maybe love is actually still here
Waiting for us to love her back
She has not been treated well lately
I hope that she will give us all another chance
And come back soon
Hopefully this time
She will stay
You can't march dirt from soiled laundry –
one needs a strong detergent, and several
cycles of rinses. You can't vote dictators
out of office – they do the counting, generally
counting the people out. The world is in a
fix; America in the mix. We need our, so called,
representatives in Washington to gain a backbone...
and not just ring their hands while pontificating –
or are they all so conflicted themselves, that they
dare not do their jobs?
Evil devours Evil! In time a powerful,
ruthless person, decides to do good for
the people – just to get the masses on
his side. So the seat of power can be
transferred. Sometimes a group of well
to do individuals, tired of politics
as usual, have an epiphany...and an
America is born!
