Adorn her grace
By Michelle Morris
10/09/2022
Pull the curtains down
Close the stage
The play is done
The throne is changed
Another monarch
Leaves in peace
New heir today
A house of sadness
People come
And people leave
Life goes on
Despite our pleadings
Sadness and hope
Intermingled
Flags at half mast
Respect and ceremony
Funeral rites
And gun salutes
Break the silence
Of soulful musings
Black all around
Mourning attire
People crying
Nationwide
Remembrance of
A fulfilled life
Born to royalty
Born to fly
Now angel wings
Adorn her grace
And Heaven welcomes
Her home at last

line the ends
the corners
and posts
both stood as a
true endorsement for
hard work and diligence
one could speak to
the wants of many
through the selfishness
of these people
those who knew the value
of the prize which
these people treasured
"the Contabier verses "the Colloquialism"
together they stood tall
someone spoke of these two
entangled as "pleistocene *****Longi"
the sleeping giant.
Lines and ends
centered middle between
the post
one should leave bragging
in arrogance
the other jolly, maybe friendly,
and not as interesting
as before.
one might read them from
Enthusiasm,
Gaudy,
beyond reproach
double needed through a
fixed contract.
the Overall projection scheduled for
the enjoyment of fans and people
who wish to belong in the proper conversation.
TRICKY THINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘Thank yous’ are such tricky, delicate things
like small birds with hollow bones
or the first breath of sharp air
on a cold November morn.
They tend to get away from us
appearing and disappearing without our noticing
They are difficult to capture,
unable to hold in the palm of our hand.
‘Thank you's.’ What are they?
Are they insincere, occasionally a burden,
nothing more than a tit-for-tat transaction?
Are they sincere but easily forgotten and sometimes lost,
some never having been spoken or shared?
A thank you. What is it?
Is it black and liquid,
like a fresh mug of hot tea?
*“Is it silvery and crinkled,
like useless wrapping paper?
Or
Is each one unique,
like an inside joke between two old friends?”
A thank you. What is it?
I do not always know
what a true thank you looks or feels like.
Perhaps the appearance depends
upon the giver and receiver.
Maybe it’s the intention in the exchange
that colors its appearance
A thank you. What is it?
It’s a heartfelt exchange freely given
between two people.
I’m giving you one now.
Thank you for reading my poem.
I didn't understand why it happened to them
some insane reason to seperate
people who love one another
tieing the knot: she smiled
making the whole thing fit
pull the lace from your face
and kiss me!
she sliced potatoes and filled them
with a smoked fish and dill and a citrusy
cream cheese mix. They looked like
ice-cream sandwiches. I asked her
to use cured ham for mine since
I don't eat fish. The potatoes were
boiled and blanced: filled and topped
she buttered the tops and baked until
golden brown.
A roasted garlicy parmesan and
ground beef dish with rice noodle
and a citrus sauce was excellent choice.
Choosey people will even like this one.
They are all around us…they are something we can’t…we should not ignore…the destruction…the heartache…the sorrow…the images of war.
As I watch one country try to take over another country that was autonomous and free I am struck how war brings out the best and worst in us…by its dichotomy.
In a war we see missiles flying…bombs dropping…bullets trying to kill as many people as they can…it is the very definition of man’s inhumanity to man.
But we also see strangers taking in strangers…people helping people any way they can…it is the very definition of man’s humanity to man.
It is amazing once the fighting starts…once war has cast its evil spell…how we not only see how horrible humans can be…but how wonderful as well.
Which gives us something to hang onto…because if the worst in us can bring out the best in us…then there is hope in the future for the rest of us.
Certainly it won’t be easy…in our planet’s history it hasn’t happened yet…and no doubt it will take all our energy…and tons of toil and sweat…
But here is something else we also can’t…we should’t ignore…the more we sweat for peace…the less we bleed in war.
How can such a simple concept be so difficult to comprehend…
Peace is the only thing that can ever save a world that war is trying desperately to end
I imagine, however, the best reason we should strive that wars forever cease…
is so that the eyes of every baby born…will only see images of peace.
Wow aren’t I a lucky lady, I’ve had a picture of the ‘man of my dreams’
I just had six on line messages from men I’ve never seen
The all have sent their picture they use a photo studio shot
Posing in their ‘military uniforms’ to try and prove they're hot
Gleaming white teeth and immaculate white suit
Gosh from their pictures they simply look so cute
Mmmmm ‘Officer and a Gentlemen’ he looks like Richard Gere
If I wasn’t a savvy lady my hubby he could fear
The next offer I couldn’t turn down was from a so called banker
Offering me riches beyond my wildest dreams he is a stupid prankster*
If I send him my bank details he will make very me rich
Don’t think I’ll take his kind offer I’m not a stupid witch*
I haven’t asked for their attention and I wish that it would cease
I just press the delete button, my bank account I don’t want fleeced
Yes I’m sure there are some really amazing people out there
But let common sense prevail, be aware and do take care
* I could think of other rhyming words to go here!
Sunday afternoon, small shuttle bus making its rounds, there we sit in our seat headed for como zoo, a lone traveler boarded the bus with his cart in tow, man’s belongings all wrapped up tight.
The man an older gentleman I’m sure with a story to tell, takes his seat tired from traveling alone, gets told their cracking down on people bringing carts on the bus, my heart sank as he wasn’t doing any harm..
The lone traveler nobody with him, what’s the harm? Here we are going to the zoo, mother daughter time, fun times are ahead, but this lone traveler sadness shown on his worn face..
What happened to us all being children of GOD? Aren’t we suppose to love one another.. oh how we’ve gone backwards in this society, judging someone because of the way he Carrie’s his belongings, for my brother is on the brink of homelessness..
We got up to exit off the bus, a quick prayer I said in my heart, his name I never asked, Lord wherever he is, please take care of him, the lone traveler, Christ go before you, tonight your way, oh how I wish I could bought you some food, Jesus will full your soul up with HIS food of faith mercy, May Gods blessings keep you safe my friend..
On a chilly December day in Manhattan, I had just finished a job interview. Despite my frustration from two years of job searching, I thanked the almighty for another day. As I walked down 54th Street, I noticed a long queue stretching from here to Halifax. Curiosity got the better of me, and I joined the line without knowing what awaited me.
A white lady with a clipboard emerged from the building, escorting a few people at a time. When it was my turn, she scrutinized me from head to toe and instructed me to follow her. In a room, she handed out a test sheet, giving us only twenty minutes to complete it. The sheet contained around 40 questions, including math problems and vocabulary sentences. I finished it in less than 20 minutes, wondering what would come next.
After waiting again, she returned and said, “We’re hiring for Macy’s department stores across the city. What hours can you work, Miss Lander?” I hesitated and replied, “Morning shifts.” She assured me that I had aced the test and then dropped the bombshell: “You’ll be better off in the shoe department—not clothing or beauty, but shoes.”
With a forced smile, I thanked her. Who knew that a cold day and a mysterious queue would lead me to the shoe department at Macy’s? Life has its surprises, doesn’t it? ??
THE NONSENCE OF BEING LOVED
IS SEEN BY THOSE WHO HAVE
LOVERS AS TRIVAL, AND SOME-
THING TO BE IGNORED.
THAN MIGHT THEY EXPLORE TO
AGAIN BE COUPLED BY THE
OF SOMEONE, THEY DON'T
THOUGHTS OF SOMEONE
THEY DON'T KNOW OR WISH
NOT TO KNOW.
ARTICULATE THE THINKING OF FRUSTATION
YET IT'S DETERMINATION
IS CITED IN WHAT SOME MIGHT THINK TO
BE UNREAL OR OBSEEN.
OSCILLATION AND GRATIFCATION SPEAKS
FROM WORDS, ACTED TO BE REAL
TO THOUGHTS
YET IT'S REFRAMIZIUM, IS STISIFICATION
IT CAUSES DRIFTS, AND KEEPS US APART
PATTERNS AND TRAITS
AND FOR GOODNESS SAKES
WHAT IS SPOKEN IS TRACED TO EXPOSE
THE RESEARCH THE AUTHER PROCLAIMS
HERDITY AND VARIATION
CLEARIFICATION, SPEAKS TO
HAVE HIS INTENTIONS REVEALED
VISIONS OF THE MIND
TO TRY TO DEFINE
AN EXPERIENCE TO INFLUENCE
THE WAY PEOPLE FEEL
A BLENDED MULIPLE
AN AMBIGUOUS DESIGN
TO THE END TIME REVEALS
August 28 Heart for God Bible Meditations Based on Lamentations 1-3
Key Verse – Lamentations 1:18 The LORD is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow...
HEART THAT LEANS ON THE LORD WHO IS RIGHTEOUS
Our heart leans on the Lord Who is righteous and merciful…
Very holy is He --- though we are sinful
He lets us repent from our evil ways so awful
While bringing our soul toward becoming prayerful.
Our heart leans on the Lord Who is righteous and slow to anger
Very compassionate is He --- though we are tempted in worldliness to linger
He lets us acknowledge our spiritual hunger
While touching our devotion with His loving finger.
Our heart leans on the Lord Who is righteous and of great kindness
Very gentle is He --- though we are bent by haughtiness
He lets us realize our arrogance-destructiveness
While abasing our pride for genuine meekness.
Our heart leans on the Lord Who is righteous and ready with His presence
Very approachable is He --- though we are sulking in self-pity’s license
He lets us see our hypocrisy’s bad essence
While opening our vision toward His glorious magnificence.
Our heart leans on the Lord Who is righteous and mighty
Very powerful is He --- though we are weakened by iniquity
He lets us consider our ways against backsliding’s infirmity
While strengthening our faith upon His truth-authority.
Our heart leans on the Lord Who is righteous and of exceeding compassion
Very forgiving is He --- though we are unfaithful to His great commission
He lets us recognize our previous hell-bound oppression
While transforming our character through His perfecting conversion.
Our heart leans on the Lord Who is righteous and always available
Very helpful is He --- though we are incompetent and unable
He lets us ponder on our mistakes, making us humble
While leading our steps to His victory, by His miracles, so possible.
