Levies Poems

Premium MemberA Modest Enemy

The argument of silence, absonant,
hammers into the pliant mind it’s hard
nails of craving.—a spirit thusly marred
will yield to any prickle, every scant

pressure to give in.—once the foreign implant
is firmly riveted, a brain so jarred
can no longer trust its levies to guard
its thoughts against the inner, speechless “can’t”.

Quietudes disturb the peace of silent
folk, pounding its forceful will upon their backs.
When, going unfulfilled, a lurching tic
tickles the unstilled ego, its violent
lashes thrash harsh whips in frequent attacks
on the tender flesh of a crooked back.

LEAP OF FAITH

A connection endures,

As it's host surrenders,

To the possibilities,

An infinite world before thee.

A projected reality,

From 2 eyes i see,

A life created for me,

Stemming from the energy.

Purposely full,

Of adversity,

Diversity,

A University of knowledge.

Taking you over the edge,

Earning the wisdom,

To inspire a kingdom,

Of loving participants.

Aware of their dance,

There is a better chance,

To feel the romance,

Within their own experience.

A leap of Faith,

Most are afraid to take,

Fear of creating a wake,

A war, So much more.

For Heavens sake,

Whats it going to take,

For the levies to break,

And retake the world you create.

The State

Corruption in the rumours and on the scenes
High profile slaps and cattle vaccines
Taxes, levies and airport leases
Pleasure decreases and pressure increases
Critics disappear in a bid to peddle fear
Rage and despair always lingers in the air
In the web of science and in the display of art
But it all meets a deaf ear and a hardened heart

Cry much tears and make much noise
But nothing under the sun presents choice
We are in the middle of a humbling occasion
Where we turn to God in desperation
We have tried change in its ranges
And for ages in sin and its wages
And the overturns have brought us to this
Where justifiers of war are men of peace

We now recall unheeded warnings
Now that we suffer squeezed earnings
But that is water under the bridge
We scale in huff the steepness to the ridge
Armed with no trust in fellow man
Neither buying his promise nor plan
And this I will teach my children
To cast faith only to God in Heaven.

A MAN CALLED BAI BUREH

In the olden, amidst an era where valor defined men, a towering figure emerged, Bai Bureh, the epitome of courage and leadership, a beacon of hope to his people.

Hailing from humble beginnings in a small village, his prowess transcended boundaries, commanding respect even from empires. Fondly known as Kebalai of Kasseh, his spirit never wavered in the face of conflict.

Witnessing injustice, particularly in the unjust levies imposed on his people for their dwellings, he fearlessly led a noble rebellion against the oppressive British regime, seeking rightful restitution for his people's land.

Bai Bureh's legacy is etched in the plague of our past, a testament to his unwavering principles and indomitable spirit. Even in his absence, his story remains a source of inspiration, a reminder of the power of resilience and righteousness.

Oh say can you see blood soaked
Baltimore reeking of falsified documents
blood soaked levies oh say can you see
corruption over board Atta Mohammed
and Bin Laden brought to trial on this land
oh say can you see veterans crying while
domestic abusers dine in Caribbean pajamas
oh say can you see our beautiful flag torn
tatters lifted rasing all doubt as truth balance
gravity a surety of peace no organized crime
could ever devour with falsified documents
orchestrated to assist abusers and target
the victims of domestic violence oh say can
you see Francis Scott Key galloping over the
bridge chanting the red coats are coat they
came dear and falsified documents data breach
to harm disabled veterans and their families
waarheid thee uncharted endeavor of fraud and
waste have mercy on us and on the whole world.

And our Flag was still There .

When Silence Prevails

Silence covers
stormy seas churning within.
When all could be expelled,
sudden burst of raw emotion,
revealing every painful scar,
there's silence.

Looking into the sunset
seeking solace from the shade,
murky waters detailing problems unsettled,
Silence crosses the rift.
Deep oceans in my eyes
never cross their boundaries.
I refuse to cry.

Pressure mounts against my walls,
levies of fortitude,
misunderstandings of the truths,
judgements of the unknown.
What lies behind close doors
hidden deep by pretense.
Never do I crumble because
silence guards my lips.

Thus will be the end result.
I will look into the sunset
resolved from my affliction.
When everything could have collapsed,
fallen apart inside me,
silence prevailed.

Majesty Queen Elizabeth Heavy Lies the Crown

Hear Yee , Hear Yee

Elizabeth "The' Queen

Here she lie's dead in state entombed
in saintly grace

Her smile as is her likeness of she no more

Send her forth victorious in resplendent
elegance riding sidesaddle upon an
equine train bitting on the bridle

To spirit her soul away duties levies paid
in full to all bar none subject come

Rest in peace , rest full well , rest in
everlasting ease complete

Blow the trumpets way up on high
let the bugle's cry and pipes a
pipes a play

Unfurl the pageantry and banners of all
ages fly the royal standard at half mast
all around the 4 corners of her Commonwealth

And pray let her know she is in no
small part sorely already missed

And sadly I fear will be for many a long
year to come

So God speed your Majesty on this your
final cavalcade

From reign to grave

As surely he awaits

Most patiently an audience with thee

Your Queen ordained keeper , leader,
defender of the faith

She who's head deemed worthy to be
placed underneath to bear the heaviest
burden of the Regal Crown

Premium MemberWild Rainstorms

Unbearable heat;
My hormones mix with your sweat
mingling as one;

Earnest thunder roars;
Hail beats along with our hearts,
passionate measure;

Ravaged by lightning
flushed sky blends with flashing eyes;
Particles charge up;

Torrential water;
Overwhelming flash flooding
destroys our levies;

Breathing never forgotten,
caught in wild summer rainstorms.

Premium MemberYears Swiftly Flew By

The last ten years swiftly flew by;
everyone seems so much older,
I barely recognize faces.

And over time, I've realized;
loyalties and friendships form
on a temporary basis.

Old age, indeed, levies a toll;
my health deteriorated,
and I sometimes feel all alone.

I have trouble falling asleep;
for my back is in constant pain,
and what's causing it is unknown.

I'm bald; there is no hair to comb,
and dentures have replaced my teeth;
my legs ache, and I use a cane.

I've found no upside to aging;
technology screws with my mind,
and it does no good to complain.

Promise Kept

I
When Sidney died
I could have died
I could have cried
But fought to save my flat
African 'woonstel,' or 'apartment'
Under auction threat
By PRETOR, for "levies,"
Or security gate fees
Yet managed when I was overseas
By HUURKOR: getting off scott-free?

II
I promised not to write
(O, not for anger or spite)
I had paid due tribute
To F.W. de Klerk, Desmond Tutu
South African Nobel Laureates
Not when Sidney said farewell
I was tasting an iota of hell
But I needed to say something
Though I stopped identifying
As black ... when apartheid fell
Poitier still clings to part of me
As to all who celebrate humanity
Unexpected racial pride and strides
Knocks out more insidious apartheid

Premium MemberEverlasting Love

Tethered to eternal and boundless souls:
God's an endless chain of unbroken love.
Dreams and fantasies fuel hopes and goals
tethered to eternal and boundless souls.
Unconditional love levies no tolls;
both infinite and limitless above.
Tethered to eternal and boundless souls:
God's an endless, unbroken chain of love.

Tethered to eternal and boundless souls:
dreams and fantasies fuel hopes and goals
Unconditional love levies no tolls;
both infinite and limitless above.
God's an endless chain of unbroken love:
He spreads His love like the wings of a dove.

Premium MemberWinter's Bite

Geese follow a southern flight path,
fearing Winter's a psychopath;
and honk as they flee Her wrath.

Autumn's buried without a trace,
while Winter whiteouts set the pace;
and icy winds slap my face.

I feel the sting of Winter's bite,
lying low in Her gown of white;
lashing out with all Her might.

A femme fatale, a heart of ice,
Winter is anything but nice;
She always levies a price.

I'Ll Die For You

when hunger howls & roars like lion
throwing rocks and pebbles at sun-drenched back
flipping its razor like fangs on helpless tummies
and striking with a devouring aplomb on defenceless intestines
i will thrust my head in between, recklessly
and die happily for you.

when dawn hastily runs and meets dusks
mind suffers as hypertension beats its devilish drum
reminding the pockets that emptiness is madness
a memory dead is brought alive to torment its bearer
agony painted the face with its beauty
because, i will die for you

when authority sent back children home
after endless whipping on their soft buttocks
allowing innocent tears to Cascade their saintful cheeks
for levies that levelled my moutainous hope to nothingness
i shall bald my head as a sacrifice to cement
because, i will die for you

i die in the morning, noon and night
i die blaming myself for my failures to meet your needs
i die seeking for solutions to end our woes
like a head abandoned by its body after a cut
i will fall & die for you, again & again
but if I may ask, will i live in your hearts?

They say "This too shall pass"
it helps me to stay sane
right now we need the sunshine
but all we've got is rain

An all encompassing virus
earthquakes everywhere
storms are crumbling levies
our world is full of fear

Recovery's what we hope for
many things have changed
I’m planning for the future
though my life’s been rearranged
