Stretching my wings to see if I could fly,
In heavy winds I thought that I would die.

Drank the water flowing from the stream,
Didn’t quench me if you know what I mean.

Saw an eagle flying high,
What stops me from reaching his sky?

In the valleys deep below,
That’s where I seem to often go.

On the mountains high in the mist,
I never seem to find this bliss.

You never knew me this is true,
But if you did you’d see me too.

A lonely wolf I walk alone,
Nowhere seems to be my home.

If I only knew what I could do,
Maybe then I’d stand next to you.

But alas that will never be,
Because in me you’ll never see.

It is just me

It is just me
Doing the best I can
Living my life
Also
I am giving all I got
When the inspiration comes
It is time to write poems
I don't know what would be
My life with poetry
Because poetry is my voice
I Try to send a message
To the world that is in trouble
I seen to many poverty
Where I walk every day
Some people have a mental problem
And it is a cry for help
I am generous when it comes to giving
I have nothing to complain
About my life
Because I am living a good life
And I am also happy with my life
There is nothing with the way I think
Father you made me into a disable men
And you also gave me feelings
When you made me
I use some of my feelings
In my poems

Just Me

Written By: D. Collins 7/30/25

A heart from New Orleans.
A soul in South Central L.A.
Regardless of what anyone thinks.
That is who I am today.

I feel good in my skin for what I've done.
Beat the odds of most brothers where I'm from.
I've been fortunate enough to live a full life.
Get to where I've gotten through all the strife.

Premium Member JUST ME AND YOU

something cheery and light...
JUST ME AND YOU
two wheels spinning, hearts beating as one,
a bicycle built for two*, just me and you.

our laughter echoing, the world a blur
the wind in our hair, the sun on our face

through winding roads and sun-kissed skies
together we pedaled forward, side by side.

we chased the wind, with adventurous hearts
sharing love, laughter, and tears as the miles grew.

we rode through rain and shine, through night and day,
through heartache and pain, through every up and down, we rode as one.

with every turn, memories were made
of trials we faced, of triumphs we won.

the memories we made are like a treasure chest
of moments lived, of lessons learned, of wisdom begun.

the world has slowed as we ride side by side
yet we pedal forward with the wind at our backs.

hand in hand, a sense of peace abides
the rhythm of the pedals and our hearts still beat as one.

* Bicycle Built for Two is a popular song, written in 1892 by British songwriter Harry Dacre

I'd rather be alone.
Cause of what love has shown.
Seems love is not for me.
Who am I supposed to be
Memories are not free
Hearts break
A chance you take
Hard to be in love
Not always a gift from above
What someone else wants to see
Is not always me
Give and take
A promise you make
Finding love is fake
The pain you feel
Tears fall against your will
You cry
Wondering why
Leaves a stain
Leaves you nothing left to gain
 Better alone
Time has shown
A hermit hiding from life
No desire for a wife
No one to talk to
True
But safer to my heart
To live apart
A life alone
That's what life has shown
This is is my way
This is how I will stay
Fear
Of holding another dear
Leaves me with no one here
Way it should be
That's just me

JUST ME

Like the ocean s the shore
endlessly, violently,
Until I'm nothing but salt on your skin.
Dripping sweet with memories...
Freaky hard do me.

On the edge of the kitchen counter,
Knock over the wine glass I never finished.
Pull my legs apart as I claw at your shirt,
Bite down on my shoulder to muffle the growl,
And leave me dripping where the light flickers.
So hard, do me.

Hold me down, with a grip that
Screams it's me who got a hold of you!!!
Push into me like you're carving
Your name into something eternal.

Make me forget the cold floor
Beneath us, the way the world spins.
Make me remember only you...
            Just me.

Just me

I

I was born early but now im late to everything,
I over think things and under do,
My favourite colour is red but my worst thing is blood,
I love painting but i cant draw a thing,
I'm always trying to go forwards but end up backwards,
I talk a lot and i say nothing at all.
I like people but i dislike many,
I give everything i have and everything i have gets taken off me.
I share love but cant find love,
I always listen and offer a shoulder, but when i need a shoulder i can never find one, and noone hears a word i say.
I like to be alone but i get lonely often.
I love music it makes me feel good, but i get sad when i listen to it.
I love children but feel sad when i think of them,
My soul wants to go home but my brain says no,
I whisper outside but roar inside,
Empathy is my middle name, but so many dont have middle names.

Premium Member Just me, the chameleon

Though I struggle to admit it
I am such a chameleon.
Ever changing my mask,
coiffure and demure,
to be what you want,
or you think I am,
or what you think I want to be,
other than just me, what I think I am.
Alone in my room, I ask:
"Who's that stranger?"
staring back at me
in the mirror
or reflected in the pond
in the secret garden.
It's the looking-glass self I see,
Not what I truly am, in reality.
For in a vacuum I'd expire to nothing,
quelled by uncertainty and doubt,
consumed by the turmoil of
tossing about all sorts of
possibilities about
What I am,
What I appear to be,
What I could become
What I appear the be, to others,
if only they were there!

I’m ok being amethyst alone
No one to share my humble home with
I guess I do miss a kiss
But is that lust or just
Just an infatuation to resist

I think I’m too selfish to love him
And at the same time like many
I’m self sacrificing because
We are given dolls to care for as girls
Taught to nurture the whole world
Yet never given permission to be
A recipient of the same emerald energy

Never taught that boy who hits you
Has no right phuck that HE LIKES YOU
Never taught to get out your head
That girls want more than to be fed

The hard years of my life I was alone
The odd years of strife solitude was a throne
Sure I have basic needs
But that comes goes with burgundy breeze

I’m ok being alone with myself
I’m not so bad I am just and fair
And if God sent Prince Charming now
I’d send him packing at the next town

Not that I don’t believe God
Just that I have peace at heart
Why add to my serenity
When I’m ok alone with just me

Just Me and My Texts

As I sit at home
Feeling so alone
I hear a ding
Come across my phone
Just a text message
Another text message
Broken record same song
It's probably just my mom
Wondering when I'm coming home
Or just my brother asking
What's been going on
Why do I need a phone
When I still feel so alone, I’m so alone
It's sad but true I must admit
The only relationship I have
Is with the alphabet
A bunch of letters in a text
Just rearranged a bit
Always the same stories same content
You could even call my phone my Juliet
I look around the room
It's just me and my silhouette
But even he leaves as soon as the sun sets
So then it's back to just me and my texts

Knock, knock, Who's there?
It's me
Who's there?
Not You

Premium Member Just Me

In a world that says I must be pretty,
I struggle with doubts, it isn't easy.
They want me to change, inside and out,
But why can't they see what I'm about?

I study hard, I do my best,
But still, I feel I'm not like the rest.
Insecurities fill my mind,
Wondering if I'll ever find
A way to be just who I am,
Without changing for a silly plan.

So It Is Not Just Me After All

We persecute

Punish ourselves

Then accept whatever sentence

Handed down to us

For merely showing human kindness

Which we equate to weakness

Knowing also full well

We have absolutely no

And there is no form

Of appeal

Or salvation

For those of us amongst us who

Try and care

Yet it never seems to get us anywhere

But in the dock

Standing accused

Premium Member It's Just Me

When you see blowing flowers
Know it's me who's saying hi
And as long as you see them blowing
Know it's me who hasn't said goodbye

Just know I'm always present
As the days and nights go on
For when you see them blowing
You'll know that I'm not gone

Invisible, silent kisses
I will always give
In the cool and gentle breezes
That's where I will live

Across your skin refreshing
Who doesn't like a hug?
Like soft and fluffy eider down
To keep a bug in a rug

Warm and comfy cozy
That's what I will do
Whenever flowers blow in wind
It's just me hugging you

Just Me

These words I say
 I say from the heart
once from a happy place
and once from a dark part
I share what's inside
because there is a freedom for a free place
a happy place where I can release
thank you for allowing me
 to be completely me
