Best Just Me Poems
(Sing to the tune of Close to You, by
the Carpenters)
Why, O, why this night has nary a clue
Yet, my darling how you always knew
Dream of the night is just me and you
Just me and you
Why, O, why stars up high zealously pry
When doting moon vies marigold skies
They love it too, the dream is so true
Just me and you
When so far you are, yet so close you feel
How earnestly whispers of longing plea
Unveil gently the missives of memories
Just you and me, sweet as can be, yearning to be
Why, O, why nightingales echo the tune
When song of the dawn robins croon
They love it too, the dream is so true
Just me and you
When so far you are, yet so close you feel
How earnestly whispers of longing plea
Unveil gently the missives of memories
Just you and me, sweet as can be, yearning to be
Why, O, why this night has nary a clue
Yet, my darling how you always knew
The song of the dawn is just me and you
Just me and you
The song of the dawn is just me and you
Just me and you
Ah, just me and you
La, just me and you
Ah, just me and you
La, just me and you

Poem of the day on October 14, 2021
The morning sun peeks in my window
as I feel a tug at my feet
how could I not smile
at that little sheepish grin
Easter morn has arrived
He is risen
and so shall I
Pitter-patter across the worn pine floor
giggles, shrieks and laughter fill my home
searching for the hidden coloured eggs
my joyous children roam.
Such a special day.
Dressed in our new spring best
we show our love for Him
celebrating with close friends and family
indulging in delectable candies and cakes
a family game of whiffle ball,
pushing my little one on the swings
enjoying each others company
basking in the freshness of the great outdoors
The skies begin to darken
the stars start to shine
our day has come to an end.
After all the hugs are given
the I love you's spoken
kisses blown, good byes said
I climb up high into my cold brass bed
and reflect upon this glorious day
again it's just me and You
Sometimes I don't know, is it just me
Why am I standing, when I should be in the trees
Sometimes I don't know if it's right for doing wrong
It appears that I'm singing a totally different song
Sometimes like in my past, is it just me
Maybe I'd be happier, back amongst the leaves
.
I wonder if I'm crazy,
It seems as though I am
I'm puzzled by so many things
Like what makes grape jelly
different from grape jam?
Or how anyone could have such low self-esteem,
To let their dumb commercials run
Are we to follow the dinosaurs?
And disappear beneath the sun?
Or how I could be so brain-dead
To find in my refrig,
Some food from the time
of the reign of Ramses,
How could I be so dumb?
The very thought, it scares me,
Makes my mind go numb.
Everything I buy or own,
I seem to lose real quick,
Is there a brain tumor inside me?
Or am I just mentally sick?
Too caught up in great thoughts?
Or just too gosh darn thick?
Sometimes I I find I wander
Into a room, and can't remember why
Is this for people normal?
Or did my brain just fry?
I guess there's no good reason,
To worry about things like this,
Sometimes your brain's on target
Sometimes it just can't help but miss.
Just Me: Part 1
I am just me.
That's all I am.
Nothing more.
Nothing less.
I am me!

Joyfully uninhibited, forthright and super-friendly,
Uniquely uncaring about order, actually loving mess,
Sassy, and spirited, once crazily sexy and sensuous,
Terrifyingly independent, willing to jump in without thinking,
Memorable to those who bother to answer my first “hi”
Me
Upon this pebbled path I tread
wistless in wonder
in heat and thunder
on such a simple journey
just me (a man) and my moon
my faith's been tested
my thoughts arrested
breathing in both good and bad
never really happy nor sad
I'm blissfully blighted
rarely enriched or super excited
floating aimless but not really free
that's just the way, you see
the bends have become a bit bigger
the narrows getting much too small
the thick is shaking (his head)
the thin unmistaking
and unforgiving
my hand once offered to steady
(for a fortnight or two)
ready it may or not (for you)
to travel together for a few
parallel roads paved in precision
not giving in to any one decision
driven off into greatness
a gallant gallop greeting history
an entangled tandem of intersection
oh what's it going to be love
what's it going to be
That ride home today spills in and over my heart..
My hand on your leg and your side glances are my favorite part..
We can speak an entire conversation for hours without a word being said..
We have our own vocabulary that only we can follow ahead...
You always know when to comfort me when my eyes become sad..
I know when just to hold you and pull you close even when your mad..
I could lay on your tummy for hours and watch your smile grow...
I can catch your dreams from the air and start this scene like a show...
You watch me laugh at the movies as if what's on the screen is not there..
I can run a bath for you and rub your back just to show you I care..
Bring you a glass of wine when the time is right, or just make love under
the candle light.. Or just watch you gleam in that beautiful dress, and thank
God for today because I'm truly blessed...
Maybe just me, my
perspective – but as
a word-acrobat, I feel
far less
affective....
Preferring more
a loosely worded chat –
for simple gratification;
as opposed to strictly
legal~proclamation!
So, straight forward,
not in form will I reside...
unless, that form
a less formidable stride –
come with me, let's stroll
sharing blossoms and leafy trees;
in the living, forgiving balmy breeze–
hard winter forms
will soon come
and my poetry
will also freeze – then written,
near hearth, by cozy fire
absent my
preferred
butterfly flier....
what you see
is all free
am not all heavenly
do have a friendly key
AM JUST ME
My head was spinning
Going round and round
I wanted to run away and never be found
I used to cry
People would ask but I couldn't tell them why
I had become so shy
I couldn't even look people in the eye
Oh when oh when would this feeling stop?
I want to curl up under that rock
I couldn't explain
It was like there was never sun, always rain
No-one will understand they'll think that I'm lying
But every day I swear to god Im really trying
I should have been living, having fun
Not standing here wanting to run
Whenever I walked out of my door
I would automatically look at the floor
Hands clammy
Legs going bammy
Heart would Pound so fast
I hate this feeling, how long will it last?
See the thing is I have depression
But I wish that someone would have taught me the lesson
About how life can get so tough
When you juggle with your mind and other stuff
So now I'm here to tell you all
That it is okay to feel a bit low
You don't have to suffer my dear
I am here to give an ear
I am someone who understands
Ill be here to lend a hand
I’m ok being amethyst alone
No one to share my humble home with
I guess I do miss a kiss
But is that lust or just
Just an infatuation to resist
I think I’m too selfish to love him
And at the same time like many
I’m self sacrificing because
We are given dolls to care for as girls
Taught to nurture the whole world
Yet never given permission to be
A recipient of the same emerald energy
Never taught that boy who hits you
Has no right phuck that HE LIKES YOU
Never taught to get out your head
That girls want more than to be fed
The hard years of my life I was alone
The odd years of strife solitude was a throne
Sure I have basic needs
But that comes goes with burgundy breeze
I’m ok being alone with myself
I’m not so bad I am just and fair
And if God sent Prince Charming now
I’d send him packing at the next town
Not that I don’t believe God
Just that I have peace at heart
Why add to my serenity
When I’m ok alone with just me
I have the ability to be really cool
An' a capability to be evil cruel
I play it straight while acting the fool.
I am a thief, and a saint
I'll weep when I take
Try and keep some restraint.
I'm never the same man, two days just a chance
I change my name more than you change your pants
If life is a game, who now must dance.
Life is what you want it to be
It helps to have multiple personality
Someone to change into, when I'm sick of being me
Don't wanna be chained to, just being Me.
I walk in a daze never somber
I speak from my heart ever fonder
I see the light in each person and ponder
Why is she so different you might wonder
I will brief you this that's just me
All the fuss about what to wear closets calling
I find discrimination and popularity terribly galling
I sink so deep into books the words alluring
Why is she so divergent you may be mulling
I disclose this to you that's just me
I fall in love Yes! as a true Aries so easily
My heart could shatter just as needlessly
I love the wind gallivanting by teasingly
Why is she so fragile you think repeatedly
I will inform you this that's just me
I enjoy the beat from music in discretion
I believe in my ability to sing without question
I dance without a care for the haters aggression
Why is she so obsessed with music you think mid-session
Well my friends this is my utmost confession in possession of concession
That's just me

Footnote…
Writing this menu brings back many memories of a meal we had …
on our first date we ate at a lovely restaurant called ‘Celebrity’ it was the first time I had ever been taken to somewhere so posh where the lady gets the menu without the prices on.
After the starter the waiter brought over apricot sorbet – in my innocence I said … but I’ve not had my main course yet and I’ve not even chosen the dessert ... ‘madam’ he said it is to cleanse your palate – oh the innocence of youth !
