Industriousness

Consider the ants,
They gathered in plain,
For food for the queen.

Premium Member Critterature: a Bee In My Bonnet

Behold the busy bumblebee
Gathering pollen and nectar, his treasure.
He transports it home
To be stored in a comb
For his queen to dine on at her leisure.

How doth the humble bumblebee
Manage all that he does without stumbling?
He toils night and day,
Earning minimum pay,
Her commands he'll obey without grumbling.

Wherefore's he called a "bumble bee"?
Throughout all that rough and rowdy tumbling
Industriousness is no quirk,
There's no task he will shirk,
So, don't smirk, he is anything but "bumbling".

In a thriving hive of buzzin' bees
Will reside several dozen cousin bees,
All of whom are humble bees,
And very busy bumblebees,
Knee-deep in bees' activities
And apian proclivities
That show their main necessity
If just to bee or not to bee.

Premium Member Wars No More

Do not tell tales of wars to children,
Tell them stories of universal love;
May costumes of a charming war patron,
Be restored by physicians true cure shove;
Lasting be divine graces from above...!

May no toy-guns take the place of teddies,
Innocence be moral midst joyful games;
May each child grow up as always readies,
Taking risks for others with no self-claims;
May compassion grow as great constant aims...!

In the leisurely pleasure-ride of life,
May weapons occupy no vital space;
Smooth industriousness and soothing strife,
Enchant the existence of human race;
May ethics, in each step, be solid base...!

May fields of corns increase; not battlefields,
May green revolt outwit the bloody red;
May sickles and plows replace safety-shields,
May each one earn their needed daily bread;
Even in our nightmares, be no bloodshed...!

Premium Member Fathers Day

Fueled by a passion to feed and cloth his family,

And ever ready to assure our protection and security,

The role my father played in leadership was a model.

He was a long way from perfection, but he did his best.

Entrepreneurship was in his blood, and he mastered it.

Reality was what he faced, wasting no time for complaining.

Sundays after church were days he often took us to visit relatives.

Demanding and driven, he taught us industriousness and initiative.

Attitudes of rebellion and fighting among siblings were never tolerated.

Yesterday was a timeline from which to move on; dad believed in tomorrow.

On Twenty Seventh of July
Two Thousand and Fifteen;
Traveled to Shillong at request -
To Indian Institute of Management;
There in an auditorium luminous,
Students and greatest of intellectuals;
While delivering his lecture brilliant,
Only five minutes, lo, ‘Cardiac arrest’!
‘Pulse down’, they said, he collapsed,
The audience stood stunned as though dead.

Stubborn

I'm locked in
True to the end

Tunnel vision on Fleek
To my foes, idleness, I bequeath

An oak tree standing
not moving, glorious goals I'm demanding

The sun in my soul burns
Sweet dreams, my heart yearns

Aspiring to beautiful heights
Not meditating on memes, ready to take flight

Practicing social distancing but not because of COVID
Frying fish and making doughnuts 'cause indolence is outmoded

I'm stubborn about my dreams because they're mine
We all have 24, and I ain't playing with 'Father Time.'

I'm unwavering in my goals
Failure to plan will certainly invite woes

I'm unyielding about my life
To live frivolously is like dancing with strife

I'm just a stubborn creature
And my industriousness is my best feature

Premium Member Lady of Virtue

Marking yourself in the glow of service
lady of virtue are you along significance-height
shining beyond worldly stardom...
while becoming a blessing by God's grace.

Overcoming poverty's grip
your industriousness with persevering courage
helped lift your family...
granting your siblings opportunities to progress.

Poured out with heavenly provisions
you constantly reach-out with care
while sharing the Gospel...
and aiding those in need.

Exemplifying helpfulness’ gesture
constantly revealing your kind soul
you're always extending generosity...
attested by your husband and children.

Magnifying the Lord* with praise as your heart's priority
you're a paragon, worthy of emulation
mortifying flesh with the Spirit's sword...
since your love anchored upon faith* in Christ radiates.

*Proverbs 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

My Father the Craftsman Part I

Death of mother hallowed out silence
   more painful then buzzing power tool,
aye never again saw,
   nor heard industriousness jollity eviced,
   contrasted when mourning did rule

wrought immediate cessation
   from his strong lance throwing arms,
   where artisanal magic did un spool
and ample tears streamed down raw cheeks
 enough to fill a pool

uncertain if sparring with depression sprung
   via loss of a Coney Island jewel
whose poverty she claimed (shamefully)
   most meals comprising thin gruel
rescuing a damsel in distress thence deceased didst fuel

   unwonted burded, and forced him to spar
   with fear he might lose the duel
left alone in a old mansion
   with only fond fading memories utmost cruel.

The Death of True Beauty

THE DEATH OF TRUE BEAUTY

Nothing can climb without falling
But the dynamic seems to be descent
Industriousness out shouted natures calling
Now I can’t find where nature went

How many times has that bell tolled?
The ringing sounds just like a telephone
Recipients, ones who are the bought and sold
Buy and sell beyond flesh and bone

The pandemic of humanity
The ugliest of vanity
A city is just another word for insanity

I had forgotten the sound of beauty
Of the wind strumming the trees
I long to soak in the obbligato
Of a world before an ear could hear
