Indiscretions

The young man's heart was as a lion,
but his stature somewhat slight.
At times, settlement unknowingly came,
by God's supreme might.
Oft times a conflict necessitated,
his donning of a brass knuckle.
He deemed God's punishment worse,
than any rodeo cowboy's buckle.

Our minds are complicated things;
many things we wish to forget, it remembers,
and things we wish to remember are oft forgotten.
It is like a computer where all thoughts are stored;
those things we can’t remember are not missing,
just misfiled, and while God Forgives, 
The price He exacts for our indiscretions,
could perhaps be our memory of

In our youth,
many desire to dance with life.
Cognizant of,  that at some point,
the dance will end and the Piper paid,
yet we procrastinate.
Life holds each culpable for our youthful exuberance,
and our often, immature choices.
As youthful indiscretions darken our past,
so also, do they obscure our future.

Pray tell
how can this be;
That one
might opt to blunder,
Electing folly and improprieties,
Ultimately
casting soul asunder.
No matter
is the heart's intent,
The inevitable results,
are one and same.
If time in unrepented sin is spent,
twill be found rowed
neatly neath each name.

The Venial Indiscretions of My Youth

Punish me not for the sins of my youth,
I stand here today before you to confess the truth,
of the venial indiscretions of my youth.
A lost soul of this planet I once was,
A troublemaker who never knew no bounds,
I broke the commandments in many-a-rounds,
Of drunkenness, carelessly living in sin,
Ignorant and selfish, I cheated to win.
