Best Indiscretions Poems
Punish me not for the sins of my youth,
I stand here today before you to confess the truth,
of the venial indiscretions of my youth.
A lost soul of this planet I once was,
A troublemaker who never knew no bounds,
I broke the commandments in many-a-rounds,
Of drunkenness, carelessly living in sin,
Ignorant and selfish, I cheated to win.
I spent most days in the dark corners of the street,
Getting into trouble, I was indiscreet.
With the Devil on my side, I drove with pride,
Taking all I could, it was a pleasant ride.
Setting fire on objects with a single spark,
Deeper and deeper, I fell in the dark.
The light tried to reach me but I was too afraid,
My eyes so sensitive, blind I stayed.
You tried to reach for me Lord but I hid away,
Many-a-nights I stayed up and cried the night away.
Because what I used to think gave me joy,
Was actually out to have me destroyed.
Now that I’ve grown Lord and I fear your wrath,
Please shine your light lord and show me the path,
To righteousness, and I will follow it now,
Until I reach your destination, to this I vow.
But it’s so hard and I’ve struggled much,
to try and break free from the Devil’s clutch,
Please Lord, free me from his horrible touch.
To show I am worthy, I accept this test,
Of trial and tribulation, I will not rest.
Give me strength Lord, please take my hand,
And guide me safely from this unholy land.
Punish me not for the sins of my youth,
As I stand here before you to confess the truth,
Of the venial indiscretions of my youth.
My heart is heavy coz I’m burdened with sin,
But with you by my side Lord I’m sure to win.
As long as I remember you and never forget,
That you love me infinite, I’ll never regret,
Having opened my eyes and embracing the light,
Standing up to the Devil, I’m ready to fight.

Of Youthful Indiscretions
Written: By Tom Wright

In our youth,
many desire to dance with life.
Cognizant of, that at some point,
the dance will end and the Piper paid,
yet we procrastinate.
Life holds each culpable for our youthful exuberance,
and our often, immature choices.
As youthful indiscretions darken our past,
so also, do they obscure our future.
Just as the Prodigal's Son,
we can return unto the house of our father.
For, as with our Heavenly Father,
there, will be found love and forgiveness.
Never should we write ourselves off, nor should others;
For Jesus said, concerning the woman taken in adultery,
" He that is without sin among you,
let him first cast a stone at her ".
Youthful improprieties need not be synonymous with failure,
and beginning anew, requires only that we aspire to improve;
An alteration of attitude, or surroundings, per se,
and a return to our Heavenly Father.
By those who know and love us, surely we'll be exonerated;
while those who don't know us, it scarcely matters.
Of the embarrassment and pain we cause ourselves,
we deserve, and unquestionably will endure;
Consider this the Piper's payment for the dance.
As for inadvertent anguish caused to others,
it takes but a moment in time to say " I'm sorry ",
but takes, what often seems like an eternity, to validate.
Hopefully, we will not be remembered for youthful knockdowns;
let our true character lie in our ability to rise from our last.

Our minds are complicated things;
many things we wish to forget, it remembers,
and things we wish to remember are oft forgotten.
It is like a computer where all thoughts are stored;
those things we can’t remember are not missing,
just misfiled, and while God Forgives,
The price He exacts for our indiscretions,
could perhaps be our memory of the same.

My youthful advice,
Be a willing combatant;
Don’t yield to bullies.

Pray tell
how can this be;
That one
might opt to blunder,
Electing folly and improprieties,
Ultimately
casting soul asunder.
No matter
is the heart's intent,
The inevitable results,
are one and same.
If time in unrepented sin is spent,
twill be found rowed
neatly neath each name.

The young man's heart was as a lion,
but his stature somewhat slight.
At times, settlement unknowingly came,
by God's supreme might.
Oft times a conflict necessitated,
his donning of a brass knuckle.
He deemed God's punishment worse,
than any rodeo cowboy's buckle.

But the size of the fight in the dog.”
