I Am Not Immortal Any More

I used to think I was made of saltwater and wire,
the bones humming with the permanence
of myth.
I stood naked in the mirror—
a girl with the face of her mother,
but none of her death in her yet.

I thought I could outlast sorrow,
that heartbreak would crack
and pour out of me like yolk
without taking the shell.

But now, when I kneel at the side of the bed
to pick up the sock you dropped,
my spine sighs like an old house—
I feel time like a breath behind me.

Even my blood knows it.
The nights stretch longer,
my dreams more quiet.
I wake, and do not expect a miracle.

Premium Member Cassandra

Cassandra, you who knew the leaves of time,
And traced them in your mind before they fell:
A gift perhaps for mortals too sublime,
Perhaps a cloak of darkness suits more well.
Cassandra, did you wish this thing to be?
To reach beyond the veil the future lays?
To now and all of time at once to see?
To live a life thus spread across all days?
Cassandra, had they heard, then Troy would stand,
But how can little merit know the best?
Too rare a soul for that more brutal band;
And so a diamond fell with all the rest.
You suffered twice, before and when Troy lost:
A gift immortal comes with mortal cost.

OZYMANDIAS- THE PHARAOH MADE IMMORTAL BY SHELLEY

Here is someone who is worthy of all the grace,
Let me describe his glory before his name gets erased,
The Pharaoh Ozymandias of Egypt,
Who was even worthy of Shelley's praise.

He has done a lot I feel,
Even though I cannot see his real reel,
I am sure he was praised well,
Even by the worthy poet for that- I can tell.

He might not be alive now,
Nor even the graceful poet - You know how,
But then he is made immortal,
By the poet who made others in front of him appear Mortal!

Premium Member We Are Not Immortal, Child

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." ~Matthew 7:13-14 NIV

We are not immortal, child,
and you have done your share
of running wild.

Running until you hit that wall, child,
there are only two paths through
which way will you fall?

He has let you play awhile, child,
but in the end your soul laid bare,
with tears of sorrow; there's no tomorrow.

Days Bygone

Sediments are yet to be cleared
From the window sill of the days bygone
Handprints of an owner's ignorance
Remains carved on the glass alone.

Fossils of a lively refuge
Still masked by dust veils
Home, where once honey grew
Now marks the tombstone of loves's grave.

Novelty springs under
The eternal fountain of life
The creatures of days bygone
Stop to greet the future hive.

Premium Member Immortal Lines by an Aging Poet

If wisdom could come from a joyless life
of a hundred years where love's never found
but hatred comes at the point of a knife,
then these lines offer hope with this poem's sound.

From dawn to dusk, life drifts—cold and resolved.
It is too grand and epic to give pause,
to care, for us: fate and being's too evolved!
The whys and wherefores, reasons for first cause

to know, escape us. We have only time:
time to find meaning in ourselves and God.
To surmount life and death takes lifetimes: rhyme,
or measure, fails to capture or to laud

how existence can be both cruel and kind;
like drought and rain, life starves or feeds the grass.
So, spend time with loved ones—seek friends and find
moments together to recall and pass.

Premium Member When Gods Immortal War

What shall it mean, when gods immortal war?
No guns shall fire, no cannons shall they roar.
And yet, the Earth itself partakes of horror.
The rhythms of the Earth shall make no tune,
Asunder shall its structures fall to ruin,
Unleashed, shall chaos crawl upon us soon.
We must of needs be greater than our fears,
More strong than what adversity appears.

Immortal

My love
If love given is life..
Then you my Love are Immortal..
The Love I give you is infinite

IMMORTAL VISION

EYES are the light of the body

That leads us to light from darkness in & out.

EYES are the sun shine that bless us with a vision

That pushes us to strive hard to break the ice.

EYES are the twinkling stars giving hope

That guides us in the dense way to dare dreams.

EYES are the ocean of power with pupil & iris

That sails us to overcome the floaters to win.

EYES are the nest of Nature with eye lids

That help us to rest after a tiring time

EYES are the treasure with support of retina

That propels us to view the wonderful world.

EYES are the beauty to our body

That presents us with an attractive look

Leave it here with magnanimity to someone

To have your beauty and be immortal.

Passion

Your passion ignites your soul
The flames burning tirelessly
But your fire isn't immortal
Deprived and starved of the things you crave.

Premium Member Immortal Ballet

Just lay back and I’ll be your atlas
let’s explore the craters of Saturn;
Beauty lies in so smokey a burn
erupting into perfect stained glass;

Wild rose and aqua in it’s display
of a dance lit with comets and stars;
The pleasure of its vision is ours,
welcome to the Immortal Ballet;

 Ever changing perfect interlude,
celestial splatter changes fast;
Flying on pointe supernova blast
as we chase that je t’aime attitude.

Premium Member Capt Smith's Immortal Words As The Titanic Sank Without A Trace

She was posh and built at enormous cost

Alas, She was fated to be star-crossed

      Plunged to Her eternal grave

Capt Smith gave a final wave

And shouted, "Cheer up folks! All hope is lost!"

To Life Immortal

TO LIFE IMMORTAL
THE NOWHERE MAN SAID
FOR I SHALL NOT SLEEP
TILL EVERY DEMON AND DEVIL
IS DEAD.
FOR EVERY JOURNEY I TAKE
IS ANOTHER TRAIL
UNTIL EVIL IS GONE
FOR I,LL FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL.
FROM DUSK TILL DAWN.
THERE COMES ANOTHER ONE
FROM THE HOURS OF DARKNESS
TILL THE RISE OF THE SUN.
MY GALLANT HORSE
SILVER HOOVES ARE SHOD
FOR MY PRAYERS ARE MY WEAPONS
MY ARMOUR OF GOD.
CREATURES OF EVIL
MANKIND ITS FEAST
FOR DAY AND NIGHT
THY SEEK THESE BEAST.
THE TRAVELS I TAKE
THROUGH COLD AND HEAT
FOR IMMORTAL HEROES OF GOD
WILL NEVER BE BEAT.
FOLK OF THE VILLAGES
OF EVIL THEY SPOKE
BUT STORIES OF SUCH
ARE NEVER A JOKE.
MOONLIGHT IT SHINES
THROUGH WATER FILLED GLADES
CATCHES THE SILVER
OF MY DAGGER AND BLADES.
