The Railway train

The railway train ambling along its tracks
Thousands of years echoing in harmony
Shadows receding among lush foliage
Aurora, your strides are always confident

pink jersey : traditional pirouette

[Poet’s Note : this is a wry autobiographical memory written in traditional pirouette verse viz. 2 quintains, line 5 & 6 repeat, which is the toe turnaround. I wanted to write a narrative of a weird syncopated vignette, when I was knitting a pink mohair jersey at the time of my imprisonment. I reduced the narrative to a pirouette. When in prison, one of my interrogators was knitting the EXACT jersey in the exact colour & exact wool ! ie. in the final analysis, (in retrospect) everything in human life can be reduced to a pirouette, a turn-around dance ! ]

You need not remind me of my mortality,

The evidence is reflected in the mirror.

But then you smugly preach about morality,

Come back down to Earth, maybe you'll see things clearer.

Normalcy

A return to Normalcy
As night comes, all are at ease
We return to slumber
In the electric comfort
Of artificiality that is our lives
We revel in the false sense of our own
Modern conveniences
We forget the thin veil between
Our electric life, truth of nature’s brutality
Of our existence, we believe we are
Immune to the real world, harsher realities
Till only a loss of electric life or death, finite
Our comfort zone is rot, lost, and won
Something jars us back to reality
Of the world so frail
So it goes for everything n anyone
We are wrapped in ourselves
We are ignorant of the truth, in flesh
We hid in the comfort of our arrogance
We whitewash our history
We tell ourselves one thing
We miss direct our attention
With glamour, illusions, n media broadcasts
Peel back the thin layer of civility
See the bones of mortality
The flesh of humanity
The blood of our souls, vanity
We are primal and dangerous
Everything foretold, lost
We are comforted by our excesses
We fear what we cannot hold
And believe all we are sold
As we turn in for a much-needed reprieve
A needed night's rest, we are in our woolen
Wilds and slumber in our hypocrisy.

How distant do you feel from our ideal life,
and how hard are you willing to go, to get there?
You’ve got to pull a big swing sometimes, to get there, you know?
You’ll flourish in the aftermath.
What I’m carrying is joy.

Notes for an American student in Paris..

Be less intense
tone it down
pullback.

Enough scrappiness, hustle,
and intensity on repeat.

Sure, honesty is sanity,
but give them a better version
some ‘church girl’ energy, maybe.
Win ‘em with winsome

Don’t welcome them, immediately, into your tense, inner world.

Not who you was but whom is portrayed
We all with evil, pulpits shouts redemption rise
Every is entitled to redeem heart of the soul
Upon themselves the desire to want change
Among mist of our depths lays stories, secrets
Darkness evil hidden away torcher's pain
Taught morals, respect, one looks for in another
The kindness of being promoting good will
What is it we are except what we allow

That we have become radical civilization of hate
War falls upon the lips, riots destroy instead unite
Purpose of government not meant to control
But overseer of different law of land we bury
For our own good, forsaken all we stand
While hiding behind image of world our steps
All desiring riches, the promised way to life
But you can not find purpose with close eyes

Among starry skies, dreams of reality hopes
We fly flags, liberation to freedom rights
Each fighting against another even ourselves
We call for change just defile objective to be
Like selling your soul, price we give to breath
But does one die in vain their doing
Where does the soul go that live this breathe
But he be a better man than the world his journey

That decision you make daily to wear your real face or not
Deciding to "makeup" what dont have instead of wearing what you got
Honestly makeup seems to be a girls bestfriend
Long lashes and thick lips seems to be the latest trend
Yes wearing makeup puts on who you're pretending to be
Then when you go natural people are surprised by what they see
Makeup causes people to treat you better than they did before
Life is less complicated with it on so you buy more
People are beginning to notice you among the classy and conceited
Makeup enhances your beauty but now you think you need it
"L'Oréal" wears makeup to stay "Gorgio Armani's" "Cover Girl"
All it takes is a name brand makeup to be who you want in this world

Our true existence is in a subtle realm
and as above, so below, we here in form,
with the voice of conscience always at the helm,
having chosen with laws of God to conform,
do not let cravings of ego overwhelm,
invoking in its place, a benign bliss storm.
The trick is to connect with our higher Self,
sans desire letting life just flow by itself.

Premium MemberOf All Things That Fade

Of all things that fade
you stayed the longest.

Not in form...
But, in the way your absence rearranged the air.

Even forgetting remembers you.

Premium MemberClouds Blowing in the Wind

The clouds are swirling in the wind,
Unique designs appear within.
An artist’s brush could be the air,
For many forms are found up there.

Look up there, it’s a swimming whale,
‘Twill quickly change with the next gale.
It seems so strange to change so much,
It makes it hard to keep in touch.

There’s a ship with the flag raised high,
It slowly fades as it drifts by.
A dragon flies upon the mast,
With raging winds, it will not last.

One way to live with all this change,
Enjoy each form when it’s in range.
Then like a child with a new toy,
Each change will bring with it more joy.

Don’t allow fear to have its way,
Change will come with every new day.
Giving us a chance to mature,
A better chance to feel secure.

Be determined, put your game on,
take it up a notch, jazz it up.
Get into character, be your own best self.

Rewrite your destiny,
draw your path and follow it.
Be fearless and audacious.

Let your imagination run wild,
you are the hero of your life story.
Feel free to fake it till you make it.

Be bold, be grand, be awesome.
