Ignatius Poems

Premium MemberRepentance

I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than ninety-nine righteous people who do not need repentance. Luke 15:7

We don't go to the doctor just for the fun of it.
We may be sick, or need a check-up,
or want the doctor's advice about healthy living.

There are many reasons to go to God in prayer
but none as important
as seeking a cure for our spiritual illness
and restoring our relationship with God.

After all, Jesus says
there will be great joy in heaven
over the one who repents.

When we repent, we come to ourselves in truth
and recognise our very real need
for God's forgiveness.
Then, we are ready to be washed in God's love.

Loving God,
you know everything that is in our hearts.
Help us to trust in your love
that we may turn to you in our sinfulness and be healed.

Premium MemberLou Gehrig's ease

We've heard of ALS
as "Lou Gehrig's disease"
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
a cause to pray on our knees

But Lou Gehrig felt he was
"the luckiest man on earth"*
the Yankees, and his wife
the main reasons for mirth

Thankful for his life
though with illness cut short**
at ease in his disease
what an awfully good sport

(* regarding his farewell speech at Yankee stadium
** like in the Principle and Foundation of St. Ignatius of Loyola!) :)

Andrea Pozzo used the quadratura technique
but innovatively gave it a tweak
Creating a 3d space upon the flat
what do you think of that*

We cannot separate Mother Mary and Saint Joseph
They’re having so much connection
With the mystery of Incarnation of Eternal God
St. Joseph, being guardian of the Virgin’s spotless honor
Foster-father of the Divine Babe
Mother Mary’s family thought be made known
She might not be stoned by the Jews as an adulteress
Thirdly, that in her flight; have the comfort of a husband
St. Ignatius add yet a fourth reason namely that is birth might hid from the devil
Looking for Him to be born of a wife and not of a Virgin
Gracious God, I pray for my parents
For all family members who have positively influenced my life
For the happiness of good memories
For the forgiveness of those who have wronged me
And for peace of heart with those to whom I did not or could not say “I’m sorry”
For all the deceased members of my family
Your great mercy Lord
You may forgive their sins
And welcome them into eternal life

Titans of Powder Ink

O Ye
Titans of powder keg Ignatius ink
I speak to Thee
When flight and night
Draw
The thaw of bedded grass
Under village green sunlight flowers
I seek my charge
As fond letters
Adorned with stamps and frank's
Litter my thoughts
Provoking verse of stale curse
I while each stroke to the i
I dot and cross
For all is lost
More than the last
Each parting shot
Is such sweet sorrow
So i beg of your leave untill tomorrow
Goodnight god bless
No more no less
She takes to the Skies tomorrow
She leaves us at a loss
But somehow better
She is the personification of the letter in a bottle
My muse of peace
The season's follow
I set thou free
From my clench released
Go forth from me
Let me be

I Am Hyperborean, Atlantean

I am a Hyperborean living in Serbian land.
I am an Atlantean living in Serbian land.

I have fed hundreds of swans flying, I have fed
Hundreds of swans flying. I embrace
The pillars of Hercules, I am an inspiration
To the writings of Plato and Ignatius Donnelly.
I am a visitor to the magnificent Garden of Eden.
I kiss earthly gold and walkthrough the ocean.
I am the queen of Egypt. I am a teacher,
Showing Phoenicians their alphabet.

We mock the poor Hyperboreans, dreaming of
Thrace’s winds. BUT In one horrible day we died, Trampled by a hairy brethren of elephants. In one Horrible day and one night, we sank into the ocean, Lost in poverty, lost in war, Lost in fear, veiled and Suppressed by men, struggling, remembering.
I was once a Hyperborean woman
Who fed her swans, watching them fly in the wind.
I did not die in a world of myths, I was once defense
Counsel at The Battle of Thermopylae. Apollo used Me to spread his doctrine to other nations.

Since then no one has ever seen me,
I’m still waiting for her to become.

I am a Hyperborean living in Serbian land.
I am an Atlantean living in Serbian land.

Premium MemberThe Lapping Tide

This is nourishing, redemptive; we become less alone inside.
-David Foster Wallace

Walking through a delirium,
I was tired.
The sand felt like purgatory,
A rising incline into a forever
That my mind numbed against.
I was awash of intentions, thought, even interest.
I had, in short, nothing left.

Then the pillars came into view.
As if begging for a story, a reason for being,
I was pulled, staggeringly, as if reeled from a
Fishing line to those salted gray walls,
The shards of church windows poking out of weathered frames.
What is that felt echo? St. Ignatius? The Archange? Michael? My brother?
I am so empty.

I sat down on the stone to rest the non-feeling.
The tide lapping into my mind.
I wanted none of it.
But there it was, anyway.
Persistent. Maddening. Life-giving.

Tunnel of Trees

A meandering stretch of twenty miles
from hip Cross Village to Harbor Springs,
through hairpin turns and roller coaster dips,
we, the lovers of the lovely
travel through Michigan’s Tunnel of Trees.

Up ahead a windward wall gives way to sunlit stage.
We stop and walk to precipice-edge of crumbling sand
for a Lake Michigan show, 300 feet below-
the hazy blue sky melting into cobalt green sea,
the frothy-white waves kissing pristine beach.

Through sylvan cathedral of maple and oak
we journey on to the bucolic village of Good Hart
where we can meditate at St. Ignatius,
tie the knot at Northern Nuptials,
and enjoy homemade goodies at General Store.

On this, the second week of May,
through flickering aperture of wind blown leaves
dappled light illumines millions of trillium flowers
that carpet earthen floor to caress the frazzled essence
of both fallen tree and traveler in the Tunnel of Trees.

Ignatius Flats

Born of the sea and distant shore
passing tides is all he knew
ripping melodies from his heart
and blending waves with heart beats
pulsing with life
the sea engulfed him daily
only to show mercy and return him safely
every hour was a brooding storm
a mixture of pain and strife
common places that are found through out his life
the vast sea as a whole
rendered his spirit null and void
stirring his soul and conjuring ghosts
the wicked tides of past are all that's left
of the man called Ignatius Flats
