Mother Nature Reconsiders

Mother Nature gazed happily on her brood,
until one of them spoiled her mood.
Her smartest monkey was on the take -
"Could it be that I made a mistake?"

An Amoeba's Song

A brave sailor who sails the high sea
will aim knowing his aft from his lee,
but Brownian motion,
that fabulous notion,
works well for an amoeba like me. 

Four Characters

Four men in a boat,
afloat in the ocean.
The winds are still,
the sails have no motion.
The Optimist waits for the winds
with great anticipation.
The Pessimist shakes his head 
and curses in quite desperation.
The Fatalist begins to cry
and screams, "We're going to die!
The Realist lets out a Rebel Yell,
takes a drink of whiskey 
and calmly adjusts the sails!

Sprinkling

Clouds and Candy Raindrops

as a child, 
I perceived
the wonderment 
of Clouds. 

and elders 
likewise contemplated 

the curious celebrity of them

the solemnity of shape-shifting skyships

their charity of rain:
	encouraging fruit 
	greening hills
	irrigating joys
keeping 
watch 
around the earth 
in as enviable 
a perch 
as the risen sun 
or mystic moon 
that guides tides.

We fill our lives with work and stress
in the lust for new possessions
we're taught that this is called success
and it makes for good impressions

But pleasures we’re taught to suppress
so our souls will fly up to the heavens
but this flesh that god has gifted

eye on the storm

The sky is a cloudless crystal blue
with a breeze to chap your lips
I’m grateful for it, it’s heaven-sent
the dawn was a celestially stamped, angry red
sailors take warning

about the time we go back to school.

My police neighbor trains a NARC doggy
Liz sees, does, and sits by her need…daddy.

Nature Calls -- for contest

  Gene went for a dip in the local pool
  His swimsuit was loose, he thought it was cool
     Had four beers, he felt mellow
     Soon Gene turned the pool yellow
  He’d turn it brown too ~ if he could refuel  



 

No Escaping Political Yuk

   Nothing to say
      but that’s ok
   Watching too much

   Time to step outdoors
      get in tune with nature
