Waiting on queue
While life has me blue
Help is on the way
But, seems to stand a million miles away!
Been sitting on queue for hours long
Hearing the same three “PHONE HOLD” Songs!
“Please hold…Your call is important to us!”
Why is it that I can’t get through? I desperately fuss!
As I wait…wait…wait some more
Here it comes again: “The racing thoughts now pour!
At last, a rep answers my desperate call
And I freak out and stand appalled
As she reads from a monotonous script
“Ma’am, please!” I beg as the page she flips!
“Hush, Dear Child! I am saving your life!”
Without further ado, she shrugs off my gripe,
Returns to her script and resumes her read
Finally, her script ends and I am freed!
From the torturesome monotonous read.
“Now, will you just listen to me?”
To my utmost surprise, she says to me:
“Okey, Dokey!
“Now, let’s wrap this up doing the Hokey Pokey!”
In depths of solitude, I stand forlorn,
With shadow as my sole and steadfast friend.
By society shunned, from kinship torn,
I ponder on life's edge, its bitter end.
Upon the bridge, where thoughts of ending bloom,
My shadow's form beside me makes its stand.
This grim moment, midst the gathering gloom,
I gasp, “l'm not alone in this bleak land!”
For shadow's silent vigil, ever true,
Has walked with me through life's relentless strain.
In every trial, every triumph too,
He’s been my constant, through both loss and gain.
So, ‘neath moon’s light, and night’s cold embrace,
My shadow stands, my solace and my grace.
-Edward

The homeless guy was stretched out
On the sidewalk, looking dead,
In stocking feet without, much less,
A cushion for his head.
The passersby all stopped to look
But then went on their way,
Another small annoyance which
Would mar their busy day.
Though I didn’t really want to
Interfere or get involved,
I called the city hotline,
Knowing nothing would be solved.
A round of questions followed,
Then they told me help would come.
I walked away for other people
Stayed to beat the drum.
A little while later
I passed by that spot again.
No one was on the ground but there
Was no cause for Amen.
For there across the street he sat,
Propped up by building bricks,
Not appearing any better,
Just a temporary fix.
Trigger warning, in remembrance to one ending their own life and losing their battle.
When it softly rains
I can't help but think, what gentle soul died today
How all their pain has been released, how it is now washed away
As they lay there in peace, I can't help my heart as it feels a heavy weigh
Black and white image morphed together and all I can see is gray
You are gone but as long as I am alive your memory will always stay
Rest easy gentle soul
I hope we can do better as humans one day
Suicide and crisis hotline: 988
Please call if you or someone you know is having a hard time.
You are not alone.
For Sarah
I have so many questions
As to why you've gone away
Maybe I'm not meant to know
Perhaps you couldn't say
I'll never see your smile again
Or see your eyes of brown
Someone said your name today
And the tears came pouring down
I won't pretend to know the pain
You must have felt inside
I only wish I'd been there
To hold you while you cried
I'll miss your jokes; your pranks
How your laughter sounds
Someone said your name today
And the tears came pouring down
My heart will always wonder
Why you didn't say good-bye
I wasn't ready to let you go
To spread your wings and fly
Although I'll see you in Heaven
My sorrow still abounds
Someone said your name today
And the tears came pouring down
If only I had one more day
To spend with you my friend
I'd share how much you mean to me
A blessing you have been
I know you're safe with Him now
The Keeper of the Crown
But someone said your name today
And the tears came pouring down

Please, before you take your life,
make one call to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline - 988, just three numbers now.
There is help for you.
You’re my new addiction.
Tunnel vision got me spinning wild.
I don’t wear prescription,
But with you my thoughts are blurry, violent.
Textbook fashion.
Race through my mind.
Past the limit.
A ticket on sight.
Color is valid.
In their minds.
Our fingers are knotted together.
Eyebrows raised; they look so vicious.
Hear the chimes, sweater weather.
Cold like the looks that they give us.
Why they mad that we're together?
Just like them, I’ll play victim.
A victim of the fifteen letters.
The system of triple digits.
I emerge and see it all.
Afraid to make the call.
Who do you call when you’re afraid
Of the ones that hold the reigns?
They emerge and see it all,
But their eyes are laced shut.
Suicide rates go up.
Foaming mouth like a mutt.
Hands are tied in the front.
Bleeding out like a cut.
Hotline number, call it corrupt.
The system is bound to erupt.
You were supposed to love me,
Unconditionally.
Called the hotline,
I'll be fine.
Wait for the "someday",
Surely the sun will shine.
I just want a new life.
Way away from yours, mother.
Why do you hate me anyways?
Did you forget who created me?
I didn't mean to be this way,
The way I am today,
You forced me to be.
I tried your visions on me,
You know, you saw it too.
I saw, you weren't happy
Or proud ; just made me
Feel like a fool.
Mother,
I wanted to live, you know.
To honour the life you gave me,
But you took it many times too.
I promise, I love the sound
That makes when the word
"Mother" is said ; I just,
I can't see you this way.
I promise I've tried to,
Way more times than I'd ever admit.
More times than I should have.
I'm sorry, mother, forgive me.
I really tried to forgive you,
But I've failed, you failed me.
I mothered me better than you.

I've been in the soup bowl for an hour or two
Read some great poetry by poets old and new
So far my commenting is working as it should
Hope I'm not to early to say things are good.
Seems the soup Gremlin met with a grisly end
I think all that he wanted was me for a friend
Or maybe with another poet he's gone to stay
But I just hope from me ; he now keeps at bay.
If you encounter a Gremlin report it straight away
Because left unchallenged he'll sure ruin your day
Contact the Gremlin hotline the number is free
They'll soon be on the case and spare you misery.
Written 5th August 2020.
Corona has made a hot soup
caught us unawares, in a coup
a hothead.
We love to touch, hug eachother
enjoy our drink, chat together
with hotdog.
This weakness Corona exploited
mutating, making us doited
a hotrod.
Wanting to do damage contain
caregivers hurried, to maintain
a hotline.
Humans' old habbits die very hard
older and sick, it did bombard
as hotbed

Instead of calling
the suicide hotline,
you make an appointment
to get a haircut:
you know that your sense
of responsibility
won’t allow you
to stand up your stylist.
From my collection "The Eden of Perhaps".
NOT written during, or related to, the pandemic.
A local doctor’s contact number
Few grocery items,
Some fun wish lists were also there..
Blow bubble, coloring pens
and request for balloons.
There were some detailed writings
In the neat handwriting of an 8-year-old
What and how
She is offering her services
And her expectations, though.
On the corner, there
Was a tollfree number,
A hotline number to prevent suicide
Under all those happy and wishful items
Still a little figure, an un-erased one.
A little boy called William was weeping with sad words echoing,
it was my turn answering calls at a Kids Hotline this evening;
and as I listened to William my heart was breaking,
he was only eight years old and he was really suffering.
William was whispering into the phone his sad words echoing,
he told me kids said mean things that felt like whips lashing;
and his parents said he was worthless, stupid, and not worth living,
he was talking to me while an arms he was cutting.
William was whispering and weeping with sad words echoing,
he told me that he was thinking to end all the pain by hanging;
in a panic, I tried to keep him talking while the police I was calling,
then, the phone went dead and I was left blinking- my soul chilling.
The police called me- William was safe, now, I was weeping.
