Signed X's and O's

Signed X’s and O’s

Through the tears…despite my fears,
I’ll be back home again.
Though the war rages for endless ages,
I’ll be back home again.

Though I’m far away from you,
You have no need for concerns,
For my love remains true,
And my passion still burns,
And I’ll be back home again.

Though its dark and lonely here,
Thoughts of you keep me strong.
Being kept from you is my only fear,
But I know it won’t be for long,
And I’ll be back home again.

And though the time I must be away
Drags slowly on and on,
We both know there will come a day
When from this hell I’ll be gone,
And I’ll be back home again.

And though I say, “Don’t forget to pray,”
That I’ll be back home again,
And when I’m through, you’ll know it’s true,
‘Cause I’ll be back home again.

When it’s my turn to come back home,
It’s on the first plane I’ll be,
With no more desire to roam,
And it’s your lovely face I’ll see
When again I’m back home.

I’ll do what I must,
And in God I trust,
While my service I complete,
Till I’m back home my sweet.

Signed with X’s and O’s--
That’s how the letter closed,
That the chaplain brought to her door.
A soldier back home never more…

Home that never was

"Home" is a word that echoes in my mind
A haunting melody, a cruel design
A place where shadows dance, where love's a lie
Where the heart beats with fear, and tears never dry

I've known the weight of hands that meant to hold
But crushed instead, leaving scars that never unfold
The silence screams, a cacophony of pain
A symphony of shattered dreams, a refrain

I've searched for solace in the darkest night
A fleeting peace that's lost in the morning light
The ghosts of memories haunt me still
Echoes of a love that turned to bitter pill

I yearn for a place where I can be free
Where the weight of expectations isn't crushing me
A place where I can breathe, where my soul can rest
But it's a mirage, a fleeting dream, a distant quest

In this wilderness of broken dreams and shattered hopes
I'll wander, lost, with heart that beats like a rope
I'll follow the shadows, the whispers in my ear
Until I find the silence, the stillness that's so dear

Perhaps in the darkness, I'll find my way
To a place where love isn't a four-letter word for pain
Where home isn't a prison, but a sanctuary true
Where I can be me, without fear, without shame, anew.

The Journey Home

Just one pint in a cosy warm pub
Keep us away from the family we love

Just one more pint - the evening won’t end
The time you have a laugh with a friend

Just one more pint, a pint between mates
Talking about all our trophies and mistakes

Just one more pint, A pint for the road.
We start talking about secrets we’ve been told

Just one more pint relaxed and unaware
Of people were talking about standing right there

Just one more pint - We’ll put the world to right
Standing up for what we don’t really care about all through the night.

Just one more pint although the evening is young
We may try a nightclub too old for this fun.

Just one more pint and then the stumble home
Fingers too fat to type on the phone

Just one more pint- then we’ll call it a night
Stumbling back with fast food in sight

I’m from Kansas. My name is Dorothy Gale.
I could weave for you a fantastic tale
about farmhands, a twister, and a floating abode;
flying monkeys, little people, and a yellow brick road;
a wizard and witches and old, yet new, friends;
ruby slippers, little Toto, and how the magic all ends
when the needy at last see they’ve had all along
what they thought they were lacking and then became strong.
I could tell how the clicking of heels took me home,
for there’s no place like home. I have no need to roam.

But instead of creating a long narrative,
I’ll just say from my heart how much I love to live
on a farm here in Kansas with people who care.
The great lesson I’ve learned, I am happy to share:
a trip over the rainbow was not what I needed.
A hard bump on the head led to wisdom I heeded.
When I came to--surrounded by those I love best,
I at last realized I am gloriously blessed.

Home

is when you play your mother’s
favorite song, in a strange city.
The cement road tickles like sun-kissed grass.

is who you see in the mirror
every time tears run without permission.
In the salted blur, you can taste sweet blueberries.

is what the sun carries
oceans away, the love that nurtured you
basks you in warm wishes from the land of pines.

is how the city’s lights flicker when you’re
in the mountains, if you squint—
Imagine, in your reach, reflection of a galaxy.

is where white flowers peek through
cracks on a brick pavement.
Different lives, but same life—
a foreign land, yet one sky.

Continent of Lilies

A daylight will stay with us from on high
And mailings will be reviewed when I sigh
Among bleeding cacti within the fence
After we are engaged in a pretence
Here I, reversal permeability
Reduced to wearing only this vittae

perception

Your eyes are like a treasure casket,
Filled with gold,
Eyelashes like the tree after a freshful rain,
Cheeks , soft like cotton
Smirking face, elegant charm.
imagining you is like,
imagining a landscape,
Which has everything that you
Wish for , desire for
Wanted,are obsessed with
And the aroma of soil,
Reminds me of you,
Everytime i see you,
This is the way , i see you.

I found today
I found a start
Along the way
I found my heart

I felt the pace
I felt the beat
I saw her face
I felt the heat

I fumbled nouns
I fumbled verbs
I mispronounced
I slurred my words

I felt her hand
Caress my face
I understand
I found my place

we need adult pants
to confront our dreams demise
before time waves bye ~
moving to a sunny state
might turn our sadness around

no more lush yard land
useful outbuildings scattered
old farmhouse we love
maybe sad byes to willows ~
then hi to palms and beaches

we felt this was home
an old house where we belonged
not our shared fate though
so to sun state we will drive ~
with frowns to wear in some months

verse 1:

the night is long and the road is wide,
i've stepped through dark, side by side.
yet in the darkness- a voice has grown,
a gentle call to take me home.

chorus:

take me home, where the light will stay,
through every storm, you will lead my way
when all is gone, and I stand alone,
your love will rise to take me home.

verse 2:

the world may melt, the years may bend
but love outlives the bitter end.
no fright, no night, no tomb of stone
can split the song that takes me home.

chorus:

take me home, where the light will stay,
through every storm, you will lead my way
when all is gone, and I stand alone,
your love will rise to take me home...
