verse 1:

the night is long and the road is wide,
i've stepped through dark, side by side.
yet in the darkness- a voice has grown,
a gentle call to take me home.

chorus:

take me home, where the light will stay,
through every storm, you will lead my way
when all is gone, and I stand alone,
your love will rise to take me home.

verse 2:

the world may melt, the years may bend
but love outlives the bitter end.
no fright, no night, no tomb of stone
can split the song that takes me home.

chorus:

take me home, where the light will stay,
through every storm, you will lead my way
when all is gone, and I stand alone,
your love will rise to take me home...

I was able to sing this to two different melodies. One was 'Country Roads,' by John Denver.

That’s awesome! I bet it sounded great with “Country Roads". Take Me Home- certain themes (home, light, love, storms, journey) The song explores longing, guidance, light through darkness, and “home” as both a place of love and peace. Many “home” songs (like Country Roads) talk about a physical home/place. Mine, feels more spiritual and eternal — home is not just a place, but a state of peace, guided by love that survives beyond death. Thank you.

lovely lyrical poem, Rowen. Love poems are my favorite, and this one spoke to me...'love outlives...end.' was ideal. Well crafted. hugs, Sara

Rowena, your romantic lines are perfect for me! I am such a romantic. " But love outlives the bitter end" is my favorite line! It indeed would make a fine song! Happy Monday!
